Picked it up for a song about a week ago. My System is crap, but the game still plays "reasonably" well, if I don't mind the crashing occasionally. (It's my system, not the game). Awesome game, one I plan on finishing.
It's amazing what you can run on a overclocked Celeron 366.
I should be running my car at 3000-3500 RPM's instead of the 2000 RPM level, in order to get better mileage? Here I've been thinking I've been saving fuel and my engine.
I'm no engineer, mechanic, gear head, whatever, but that does sound counter-intuitive. I'll have to try it out.
Now if I can just get the car back from the shop. Damn dexcool stuff.
Occasionally I might log on from home to check out the servers, make sure everything is working. But, I'm not interested in always being On-call.
I work to live, not live to work.
If that make me a bad person, selfish, what ever, Big f(*&ing deal. I love forgeting what I was doing Friday afternoon when I walk out those doors, and not remembering it till Monday morning when I get to my desk.
Will it stifle my advancement possibilities, probably. I don't plan on being CIO, The pay would be nice, but I like the simple life. Just my wife and me enjoying life for as long as possible. I don't need the stress.
It would require a reliance on the Cable/whoever, that's a granted.
You could still always buy what you want for whenever and whereever you want to watch. My point is to get rid of all the BS shows people have recorded and stored in their den...never to be seen again. It would lessen the need for VCR/DVR's, not completely replace them, just lessen the need.
Once Video-OnDemand it pervasive won't the idea of buying or renting these things become obselete.
Imagine this...the full TV/Movie library on Demand...anytime you want it. Let's say $50 a month. Would it be worth it? You could bring up "Tails of the Golden Monkey: Episode 7" at 2:13am.
Other than portability to take it to your mom's house in BFE...why do you need a hard copy?
Reuse the space in your living room that you were using for that Danielle Steele movie collection. Those VHS tapes aren't needed.
Mobil Vactra Oil No. 4 is the normal recommendation for large machines where way pressures are high or good precision is required. It is also recommended for vertical and inclined slideways where drain-down can be a problem
rural as in BFE rural...where the cable companies do not care.....
My parents still have an antenna for the local broadcasts, and DirectTV for the rest. They have a 20' antenna with a booster, it can pick pick up about 30-40 over the air channels.
They could have gotten cable but my mom doesn't care for the local cable company's tatics for installation and service. Satellite seemed a much better fit to their existing system.
A co-worker's husband runs a Septic Tank clearing business. When we asked what a shitload was we were told "1600 gallons".

I thought they were gone forever...
25 years without and skillset update? With the way tech updates now, you definitely would be out of place.

That's just downright scary though. I hope you're right in saying they are past expiration...
Bringing class into it again. If there's ever going to be any progress...
Thanks for explaining it...
Atleast for Rise of Nations, but the Demos aren't free. $1.99

Very insightful argument. I tend to agree with you, the non-voting public is the problem.

I have to agree, that is the best metaphor for the /. affect.
