Granted, it's not incredibly deep, but it's quite a fun game.

The problem with programs like this is that they simply can't catch everything. This in itself isn't bad until you have users which rely on them. Once users rely on these tools, they let their guard down, and they immediately trust anything that the tool says is okay instead of remaining suspicious.

These are great tools, but they should add to personal judgement rather than replace it.

The point is that the music will be distributed, whether you DRM your songs or not. DRM won't affect the rate of copying at all, since there will always be people around to defeat it and then distribute the non-DRMed copies. Therefore, DRM is just wasted money.

Sometimes I felt sympathetic for him.

That's what's good about him as a character. He's not just some crazy guy, he actually has a good reason for wanting to do the things he did, and the fact that he turned out that way is all part of the tragicness of the story. This gave him a lot more depth than most RPG villains had by that point, since many were either just "hay guys i am crazy and am going to kill you now okay" or "omg i need power" types.

But it seems a lot of the people who proclaim FFVII is the greatest game ever are the ones who started playing with FFVII (the Playstation generation of gamers) or haven't played it since it came out.

Why does everyone claim that? I cut my RPG teeth on Dragon Warrior 1, and I hated VI and loved VII. Most of my friends feel similarly.

More of the same? What's always been great about the Final Fantasy series was that it never stopped evolving. Turn based turned to ATB turned to Gambit. Buying spells at shops turned to jobs turned to espers turned to materia turned to draw/junction turned to spheres. Settings are wildly different.

Honestly, if you take away chocobos, moogles, and Cid and change the names of the games, you couldn't even tell they were a series. They'd just be extremely-good JRPGs.

Ah, but they do have third party support already, and quite possibly the most major third party around - Square-Enix. The fact that FFXIII (and presumably DQ9) is going to be on the system pretty much guarantees that millions of people will pick up a PS3.

If Sony didn't have the major S-E titles, I'd be a lot less confident in their ability to move consoles. As it is, though, it seems they've got their killer app.

Monthly fees make FAR more sense than one-time large fees.

    1) It's more affordable for people who have small amounts of disposable income each month.
    2) It's not a waste if you play for half a year then quit.
    3) The company has an incentive to actually give people new content and good support - if you don't, you lose subscribers.

As for ads, I posted this in another topic about them:

It depends on the game. Sports and racing games gain a lot of realism by showing the same types of ads you'd see in real life. I prefer to play one of these games with real ads than with fake/no ads. Other types of games, as well, can benefit - running around a large city? Billboards make sense. Running around an office? Soda machines in the breakroom make sense.

It's all about context. Sometimes, ads can be good and add to immersion.
