Yup, I saw the front page, no comments and then made the rounds. I'm seriously bummed that it died that quickly. I mean, I realize the old one ran well on a P1 system, but I figured they'd have sense enough to upgrade since then.
It used to be people would order the burger and a drink, leading them to ask if you would like fries to go with that. But these days every one just orders the #3 and gets the fries anyway.
Thats for friends. And my time more valuable? Tell that to my boss. Unfortunately, he works around my college classes schedule so I'm fairly stuck for now.
Where's my DMCA lawyer? You've broken the encryption on my patented "Turning the opposite of right while indicating intent" method and released my secret to the world. I'll sue!
50 years of work CAN cover 950 years of play time assuming no abnormal inflation increases. Over 50 years, it is quite easy to collect several million dollars given a little bit of saving. After that, live off a portion of the interest and leave the rest of the interest to compensate for inflation.
Amen to that. Personally, I want to see INVOLVED quests. Using GTA as an example; three or four people across the city all recieve a competitive mission to [kill said gang member, recover said money, be the first to report to a mob boss for a second mission, or rescue a kitty from a tree] and those that don't make it fail the mission. Nothin I've seen so far goes beyond giving a quest to a single player. Make them compete.
I think part of the issue is to keep all level 1 characters with roughly the same skills. A solely FPS system would mean vets starting a new character would annihilate true newbs, but this could be circumvented with a lock-on system (GTA) with a certain amount of error built in based on skill usage. I haven't seen GTA:SA yet, but I've heard the weapon system is similar to this.
I consider Howard as comedy. Now, by your biased opinion doesn't that make him worthwhile on the airwaves? Guess what? Cultural events and theater are for making money. Political events are DEFINITELY for making money. I call that commercial.
I happen to like Howard Stern's slice of the spectrum, now go find a slice of the spectrum YOU enjoy; leave mine in peace before we think your slice is not of benefit or interest and try to get it freed up for more boring stuff.
I know I'm not supposed to give any points to M$, but.Net actually works. Knowing C++,.Net had about a 3 month learning curve. Anything really new takes about 10 minutes with google and msdn.microsoft.com. And while you won't get 100% fast and efficient programs, what you get more then handles a business environment and development time drops dramatically.
Now, here's to hoping the Mono project comes through with.Net on Linux!:)
Sounds familiar. Our CEO wants to know a little of everything, but doesn't know a damn about tech. The list you gave for jobs sounds familiar, but add workspace installations (desks, printer stands, etc), warehouse shelf installations, miracles, and anything else that requires a creative solution. Worst part? Average entry-level CIS grad makes more than I do by about 10k, and I have about 4 years experience.
However, the tech industry is turning upwards so I'm going to be forwarding job offer salaries to my boss for him to match. Sometimes, being the only person in the know about 80% of your setup is a benefit.
IIRC, Google's ToS states that they have a right to remove any listing that intentionally skews the search listing. How can you skew them any more than suing the company to change them?
I'm all for it; blacklist the term axa from google and their domain. Let's see how long they stay in business when their competitors are the only ones showing up on the internet.
I can see the complaints now. "They're gonna start up another Mofia".... That would be cool though, tommy-guns, suits, and old cars while manipulating the police.:)
This might actually get me buying music again. I'm content with radio at the moment. But if I can get good songs w/o all the crap, especially at a decent price, this is good. Maybe the music industry should start looking at this as a main music model...
That'd be really nice. Can you imagine making your own gang? cars and all? Add some AI to make missions interact with other players (not necessarily in your gang) and you'd have one heck of an addicting game, moreso than it is now.

Already down... Now that's a slashdotting.
Heard of this game a long time ago and wanted to try it but never got the chance, now Slashdot won't let me.
Before they had combos.

Not much if I know someone that knows them.
Usually dinner and a favor from family.

Good thing I don't like sports.

[Offtopic, I know]
DeVry is the short bus!
[Back on topic]
Doom2 and Duke Nukem of course.

I used to live on whidbey, so if you need help there, let me know. :)

Same situation in the past except now employed. Location is most of it. Minnesota isn't a high-demand area.
Good point. My one Windows install is about the size of all of my linux boxes' installs put together.
Never know, the grounding connection could have loosened, or the power for that matter.
It's always good to introduce western culture to the locals moreso than they already recieve from the climbers.
You forgot Twinkies!

Add some form of wireless heartbeat sensor, and you'd be set. Plus some of these villian toys, and the superheros/goodguys can't win!

The next wave of whining and complaining from the politicians and "concerned parents" of America may commence now.
