    This is called progress. The ultimate goal for our species is to be able to survive without the earthly ecosystem. In time, our planet will be gone, no matter what we do. There are many ways for the universe to screw our planet so the sooner we are able to thrive without it, the better.

    It is an awful strategy to keep all the living species in one place.

    Not if it is an open protocol. ZRTP looks like an asymmetric encryption, you can hardly monitor that.

    I'd recommend lubuntu -- vast repositories, reasonable hardware support (more so for older PCs), non-cluttered interface.

    It's not an unlocked door, it's more like a contagious disease. Whoever leaves the door open, is only damaging itself. Those infected are often letting their computers send spam, spread malware or participate in DDOS attacks. Sometimes the computers in question host fishing sites or even CP, therefore actively harming others. A contagious person should be kept away from the public, a contagious and unprotected computer should be kept away from the Internet.

    Not only that, linux users cannot simply download an executable, they have to make it executable (or extract it from an archive keeping permissions). In addition to it, linux users don't have "download-n-run" mentality as most if not all the software comes from a repository.

    One can argue about the reasons why it is virtually impossible to get a trojan using linux, but it is sure nice that I don't have to clean my parent's PCs once in a while as it used to be with Windows.

    If peeking is a major concern, why not use Keepass or similar? With Keepass I can copy-paste my passwords (which are random-generated for each site) with people filming my desktop: they won't see the passwords at all.

    He is not "my guy", neither am I a US resident. I just like how he is screwing everyone in the GOP's establishment up simply by playing by their own rules.

    Besides, Microsoft's hold on office programs and PC's operating systems is still largely unchallenged despite Vista and ribbon interface (85% instead of 90%+, no big deal considering the ever growing market). Marketing and management both played a great role in this. So, in that aspect Ballmer has not screwed up much.

    True, he has not captured other markets such as mp3 players, phones or search engines, but he had not lost cashcows either despite major screwups.

    The delegates are elected at the conventions, not by the people. The rules are not democratic and Paul is merely playing by them making the best use of resources possible. The GOP is a private organization, after all.

    As for your general election scenario: that would be by the rules, too. It would be a good thing, actually, to raise awareness of the system present.

    After all, G. W. Bush has lost the general election, but still became the president.

    I recall this story as well, there has been more answers than these three. IIRC, the student passed after issuing an answer that if you know the mass of the barometer you can throw it off the roof and measure the time before impact.

    BTW, the student in question was Niels Henrik David Bohr who received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922.

    Country of Belarus once had a 5-point grade system (along with the rest of the USSR) with "5" being the highest grade and "2" de-facto the lowest (1 has been used very seldom if ever). As only 4 possible grades were not sufficient, "+" and "-" have also been used but did not have an effect on resulting grades.

    The system has been reformed to a 10-points grade system with "1" still reserved for students who can't tell globe from a map. What has been a "5+" is now "8" with "9" reserved for extra knowledge and "10" for exceptional performance (e.g. what the teacher did not know himself).
