As the speed limit in most areas is 120 or 130 km/h your real world average speed is actually about 100 km/h. Transportation planners use this as a rule of thumb and from my own experience I can tell that it is surprisingly accurate.
Agreed, I am not swiss and i pay a years taxes for only going there once or twice a year. I think we should tax the swiss similarly in our country out of spite:P
It is a cost issue. Paper and the distribution of it is relatively expensive and the margins in the newspapers are razor thin (hilarious i know) on a product that is cat. Printers are just trying to sell as many millimeters of ad space as possible. Especially since nowadays the largest papers in many countries are the free Metro style papers.
For books the production and distribution costs are obviously a lot lower relative to the retail price and they don't make money selling ads in books. You can easily spend a couple of bucks on a nice quality paper, good margins, binding and a hard cover.
Well obviously the law is different since it is a different country. In the Netherlands talks between clients and their lawyers are private (dutch: beroepsgeheim; lit. professional secret). This obligates lawyers to secrecy and they do not have to incriminate their clients even in court. This means that the defendant, their next of kin and his or her lawyer do not have to testify. A similar secrecy obligation applies to healthcare professionals for obvious reasons.
Too bad because i liked it. The first couple of episodes were painful to watch but later on it actually turned into a good bit of sci-fi. Plus it had the babe from firefly in it.
TFA doesn't clearly state that for this to come into effect it needs to be approved by every single EU member state. It is rumoured that Belgium, Slovenia, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Portugal, Austria, Slovakia and Romania are opposed to this.
Agreed, most of the apps are just crap. Twitter/hyves/facebook apps are decent and i use the teletext app daily but thats about it. When do we get the good stuff?
TomTom or route66 with locally stored maps and turn by turn navigation? Skype without any wifi restrictions? A tethering app
You know, apps that one actually has a need for and uses. Also i'm sad to say these apps are available on competing platforms. The iphone hardware is nice but the software is crippled.
I love opera, its a fast light weight but feature rich and rock solid browser that doesnt require endless tweaking and fiddling with extensions like firefox does.
Not only that but as any long time apple user will tell you, never buy a first gen apple product. Combined with apple's policy to dont do gradual price drops and the best time to buy a mac is basically never. If you need to upgrade your machine just after apple has released a 2nd generation machine is about the only time you can buy a mac that isnt horribly overpriced.
While i don't remember playing any of his games here are some reasons why i played pirated games.
Time rich and cash poor:
As a college student i had a lot of time to play games but no money to buy them. What little money i did have i spent on rent, books, beer and a computer that could actually run games.
Convenience:
Downloading a pirated game is easier than buying a game. No entering payment information or creating accounts. No need to keep a cd in the drive, just mount the image and play.
Price:
Pirated games are free, if you don't know wether you'll actually end up playing a game or not nothing beats free.
Quality:
Most games are crap, no really absolute crap. Most games just aren't much fun. They are invariably buggy and require frequent patching, support is horrible at best. When you've pirated a game you don't really care. But when you've spent a weeks disposable income on a game and you don't even know if it'll be patched up to a playable standard it's hard to not feel ripped off.
Risk vs Reward:
Where i live pirating software is risk free as a consumer. So the only thing that will force me to go out and pay for a game is a quality product. Add in some great value that is harder to pirate like great online play (think battle.net etc.) and i'll buy it.
I don't play purchased games as much as i do pirated ones:
Call me crazy but i played the hell out of Quake 2 pirated, i purchased quake 3 and hardly ever played it.
Pirated EU2 and loved it, bought EU3 and played it once.
Pirated FM '06 and '07 and played it for months, went out and bought FM'08 and played it twice.
Now i didn't have any issues with this since i figured i owed them some money for the previous games. But i'm not going to go out and buy a bunch of games that i might not even like or play.
The only games i know i'll play to death before they are released are by blizzard. Diablo 1 and 2 were fantastic and i know im going to buy AND play diablo 3.
You see, i just can't predict which games i'll like. I can pirate a dozen games and i might end up playing one of them for months and as a consequence i sometimes buy the sequel.
Demo's are useless to me, i haven't installed a demo in over a decade. If i want to try out a game i can just find a pirated copy online and see what the game is really like.
Actually in the Netherlands it is legal for an individual to download media for non commercial use, but it is technically illegal to upload those same media.
All of these examples give copyright to the printers of the work. You know the ones that make the copies? Not neceserally the authors, copyright as we know it today is a much later perversion.
Or when HTC comes out with a device that has 8gb+ storage, great touchscreen and a fast processor. Maybe they allready have such a device on the market, i havent looked at them in a while.
Last time i checked the htc didnt have a really quick cpu. Lack of a full keyboard and a slow cpu are the major downsides of the nokia n73 i am looking to upgrade from.

Opera is a Norwegian company which last time i checked wasn't in the EU. You are just paranoid.
I love how parent is modded +5 insightful.
He said it was pre-paid, so technically not a plan.
Yeah fuck this shit, I'm out of here!
Because a dictionary getting any age rating is a good idea how?
Yeah wtf, i was getting all excited untill i downloaded the thing. Love Opera but don't feel like keeping track of alpha and beta installs.
Yet they still taste great on a sandwich

Oh in what world are dumping, price fixing and exclusive dealing considered anti-competitive? I have no idea, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-competitive_practices
