Thus, the partition function, p(n), represents the number of possible partitions of n. So, p(3) = 3, p(4) = 5 (for n = 4, we have: 4, 3 + 1, 2 + 2, 2 + 1 + 1, 1 + 1 + 1 + 1) , etc.."

    Please disable all toolbars by default. When the user logs in, pop up a page that says:

    "This program tried to install a toolbar, you probably don't need it and it's probably full of ads. The nephew you always call when you have computer trouble would seriously be mad if you enable it. Would you like to enable it at this time? If so, please type in 'yes, I'd like to be inundated with ads and malware please' in the box bellow."

    Anyway, I think the argument is: The spammers are gaming your Metrics. It's not that there's 50% less spam in your search results, it's that you're detecting 50% less spam in the first place.

    I think, what they want is preferential treatment when requesting domains. i.e You request www.elvis.music then ICANN checks with the RIAA (since they own all music ever created) and RIAA says "No!!! Elvis is copyrighted!!!" Then you point out that your name is Elvis and you play piano. RIAA says "Tough, we've owned your name since before you were born, go suck it..." etc...

    The types of people that will read about the episodes on twitter or watch terrible videos from the audiance on youtube are the same types of people that will watch an episode 15x so they can come to work and annoy me with sad quotes. Then they'll buy your show on DVD, the "Editors edition" DVD, the "Extended cuts" DVD and then the box set.

    250gig? Are you serious? Welcome to 2011. I've got 6 TERAbytes of storage on my network... and that's not all that big. You don't need external storage or anything, you can get a terabyte drive for under $60. Buy 2 or more. Then have them in separate computers on your network and each computer up to the other with the various free backup software packages out there. I use http://www.gfi.com/ but there are plenty of others. This solution will not protect you from a house fire, you'll need a safe or off-site for that.

    If they refuse to tell anyone what this "Unnamed 3rd party service" is... then I think it's well within our rights to assume the worst. The FBI/CIA really aren't all that creative.

    My suggestion? British Petroleum. They are tracking out movements to determine the best place to have the next oil slick. If no ones around, no one will notice.

    any other suggestions? Once we decide on a winner we can go update Wikipedia with our "Facts" and start spreading it around the internet via forums and blog posts. Remember, if it's too ridiculous, no one will believe it... so try and keep your suggestions within reason.

    Actually, for the most part what I see are 2 types of people buying phones like these: The actually tech savvy type that would never buy this Motorola garbage... and those that think they are tech savvy but deep down really aren't. The latter go to the former to figure out what to buy. Even a basic Google search on the phone is going to bring up a treasure trove of people complaining about the phone being locked down.

    I work for a telco... your regular local phone techs would never do this. They have procedures they follow and getting some weird-ass setup to work is not their problem. They make sure service gets to the Demarc and then they leave. What happens however is a salesman sells the customer something that's nearly impossible. Or they sell them a package they think will work without ever visiting the site. Inevitably what happens is the tech shows up, drops service off at the demarc, which happens to be some closet or outdoor space in a huge complex... the customer is literally half a mile a way and would have to pay to have cable run through the whole building. But the sales guy wants his commission. So what does he do? He shows up in person and does something like what we see here. I've actually seen worse. Then the customer calls in to complain but according to the techs records he dropped off normal service at a normal demarc. There's no record of this mess... There's arguing back and forth... but in reality the sales guys just got to prevent the customer from canceling within 30 days and the commission is his. Qwest has no idea what any of that extra cable is, and as far as anyone in their facilities division are concerned they probably think the customer ran it themselves.

    or better yet, rather than wait for some pie in the sky orbital solar array... how about use a nuclear reactor so we can make this a viable option NOW and get the infrastructure in place. Once these devices are in common use, it would be economically prudent to convert them to solar power as soon as the tech was available. Making hydrocarbon fuels from nuclear power would be a huge step in the right direction, this all green or nothing attitude is what's killing progress in the field.

    If your house is 60 years old, the plumbing works fine and the water company makes some huge change that breaks it... yes, you're likely to blame the water company. Especially if here are hundreds of thousands of other water companies competing for your business that still work just fine.

    I agree that Microsoft is dead in the mobile arena... but Palm is doing better? Palms basically been dead since 2000, before they even entered the mobile phone market. The fact that anyone paid money for their garbage OS is amazing. Then, to say that they are somehow ahead of Windows phones? At least Microsoft can trick people into thinking their phone will work better with their home PC or something. Palm just has absolutely nothing going for them.

    Lets get it strait... the Tuscan shooter played ONE online game called "earth empires" which was about as sophisticated as mafia wars. The only interesting part of this were the posts he made in that games forums. He was clearly mentally unhinged and as you read them you can see the community is totally confused about what he's posting. They aren't sure if he's a Troll, just stupid or bat shit crazy. Unfortunately it ended up being the latter.

    Actually, the primary way of disposing of diseased animals at meat rendering plants is by putting them through a device very similar to a wood chipper. See the episode of Dirty Jobs where they visit such a facility for a very disturbing demonstration of such a device.

    They'd at least complain to apple and have the app taken down. A more clear copyright infringement there couldn't be. This, by the way, was what copyright law was intended for... and it's sad that it has little to no affect on cases like this anymore and is instead used by the very companies the laws are supposed to protect us against.
