    People don't buy a Cray or Origin cluster to have the CPUs sitting at 1% load, they're made to work. If a home PC was properly cooled I'd hope that it should last to whatever the lifetime is spec'd at by the manufacturer.

    Has anyone heard of a proxy/filter doing this?

    We have Privoxy running at work (and I do here at home). It can do on the fly text mods in it's "playful" mode.

    It's not replacing our current processors. It is just helping them with intensive floating-point calculations. Is that really going to be helpful to the average user?

    Considering their initial chips (if and when actually made) will be selling for $16,500 I don't think the "average user" is their initial intended market. They'll go to the clustering people and research folks first.

    Everybody in this charade are sending open letters to one another. It's as if SCO is trying to scare other companies into settling whereas the companies SCO are suing are trying to decide this in the court of public opinion.

    They should all just shit or get off the pot. SCO; show some code. IBM/SGI/et all; show what you've found. This fiasco has gone on long enough.
