The Apple TV setup is simple and straightforward. Minimal controls mean less things to mess up. My grandparents are getting up there, and they rarely mess it up with Netflix Streaming.
I also had issues regarding consumer grade routers (largely that they liked to slow down and die and crash horrifically), so I took a slightly different approach.
I'm using a small Mini-ITX server, using an Intel D525, 4GB of memory, and a 60GB SSD for ClearOS / Squid Proxy (does wonders for WoW Updates, actually...) That handles all outbound traffic. That's hooked up to a nice 16-port gigabit switch, and I run cables for as many things as I possibly can. There's about 30 different wifi signals I can hit right now, so anything sent is going to be slow as hell, provided that it gets anywhere. Cat6 cables run to everything.
For those few things that have no ethernet ports, I use an Apple Airport Express-N thingy to host my wifi. I've been using one for about 2 years now in this way, and have had no issues. I have two Apple TVs, both wired into the network. iTunes on my old Mac Mini is pointed at my ZFS file server, and everything works very well.
Whatever happened to the concept of Personal Responsibility? Of being held accountable for your own actions, instead of the knee-jerk reaction of "it's the firearms fault, ban them everywhere we can." This mass punishment, this taking away of people's ability to use their time and money as they see fit, is crazy. If someone proves that they can't handle a level of responsibility, then I can understand rights being taken away, but to punish everything, to take away abilities from everyone? I find it insulting, that I am automatically assumed to not be responsible off the bat.
About time that the results of an inspection actually spurred the brass to do something about it. So often, stuff just gets swept under the rug. I'm actually concerned over this, not because "oh look, we found 17 folks out of compliance", but more because "if this is what they are publisicing, what isn't being said?".
As much as I love seeing Officers getting called out, it really makes me worry about the Chair Farce's ability to get stuff right.
I'm currently playing through Crysis 2 on my old gaming computer, and it is running perfectly. No lag, shiny graphics, everything. Why spend money to replace it? It does everything I want it to do!

But in the end, it all comes down to cost. Current Thunderbolt displays are rather expensive. Heck, I picked up a dual-link DVI monitor of the same resolution for $275 on ebay! why pay three to four times as much for something with only a small few bells and whistles added on?
Thunderbolt, overall, is great in terms of performance, but it just seems to be well beyond what most folks are willing to pay. It's like that guy who brags about how "My car has a Turbo Kit option from the dealer" but he NEVER SPENDS THE MONEY TO GET IT.
The external drives, the only situation that I'd actually be interested in, are also stupid expensive. In the long run, just better off either using E-SATA, USB3, or internalizing the drives. Same goes for daisy chaining monitors. Want to run tons of monitors? Install more video cards! woo.
With all due respect, where will we get the money for this? Money is being bled so much from the DOD that we can barely maintain standards. If the men and women who serve are being asked to "do more with less", then how can you insist on spending so much money left and right? Can we at least attempt to pay off the debts our country has racked up over the years? If you want to spend money on such projects, then by all means, do it after we don't owe other countries insane amounts of money. Cut back on Government spending, Balance the budget, bring the Troops home.

If you impose a lot of rules, monitor every little thing that your child does, then all they will do is find a way around whatever blocks / rules you have in place. But it had WAY more program-compatibility issues then VISTA did. I was using XP64 for about a year before Vista came out, and I must say, I have had WAY less problems with Vista 64-bit then with XP64.
I really like how Steam currently works. Only one computer can be logged into the same account at a time, I can download / install all games on any computer, it works (mostly) in Wine. I also don't have to mess around with disks.
Steam seems to me to be a rather effective method of DRM. I can only be logged into the account from ONE computer at a time, and I can play my games. what's the problem?
I have a Macbook from just over a year ago, and it uses a Atheros wireless card, and it's the biggest pain to get running in Linux. Hopefully, with the Source released, it will be easier in the future to get the wireless working on this model of computer.

I must say, I don't like the idea behind robots fighting our wars, because that means that "acceptable risks" become a thing of the part, and we are Far more likely to "militarily intervene". Aka: "Less risk to our troops" can translate into "we go into more wars" which is something I don't support... wars benefit companies, and lead to the death of thousands. If the lives lost aren't American Lives, does it still matter? in my opinion, YES.
yeah, Frets on Fire is free, BUT the vast majority of the songs that people put into it... are pirated... so, it's much like Stepmania, only really useful with pirating.
How long until a Linux Distro uses that type of Motherboard for doing that? ALso... I want to see how fast Gentoo boots with that...

actually... if you look at performance and power consumption... it would make sense to run advanced tasks on graphics cards (GPGPUs) then on processors...

It's insanely hard to learn... even when you have friends helping you through every stage of it. I much prefer WoW over Eve, because at least I can learn how to play WoW without consulting someone else every 5 minutes.
I have multiple high end computers, ranging from an 8-core Mac Pro with an 8800GT, to a Quad Core SLI system running Vista with 8GB of ram. I have never owned a console. I previously never wanted a console. However, since games are now "console only" (like "The Force Unleashed") I am seriously considering buying a 360 or a PS3. I much prefer the Keyboard+Mouse controls, but when there are minimal good games come out.... they don't do much good. (Crysis + Crysis Warhead looked good, but the gameplay was really sub-par... especially in Warhead) The only thing that I use my high end gaming computer for anymore is World of Warcraft... (at least, the only thing it's used for out of video games)

See? The big companies CAN work together when they want to. I'm honestly surprised that 6 major movie companies could work together without backstabbing each other. On a related note: When it comes to DVD ripping... just use "Handbrake" (google it. open-source ripping software)
Mainly because I enjoy trying out the latest tech. I have too many computers utilizing many advances in technology, and I'm always trying to find a way to either expand their capacity, or just to check out cool new things. (and yet I don't have an iPhone... go figure)
