Vector Linux is a decent distro to try out if you're a distro-hopper. But it's still just one of those generic desktop distros that doesn't seem to have any specific aim. I've used it in the past on computers that struggled with other distros, and it seemed to work well.
I'd like to know how the truly religious cope the fact that the book they read today has been rewritten over and over and perverted so many times that it can hardly reflect what was 'supposed' to be there.
By reading different versions? That's why this sort of thing is kind of important. All Christians and Catholics know that the Bible is really really old. Being 'Truly Religous' doesn't mean you've stopped searching for Truth, in fact it means you realize you don't have all the answers yet.
These aren't improvements so much as they are accomodations for Vista's complexity, or at least that's what I got from TFA. Until more details are released, we can't really say for sure that this is a blessing in disguise.
I think you may be missing commentary for complaints. People have been talking about SSDs for several years now, and I've actually kind of wondered that, if they were so great, why aren't we seeing more of them in mainstream desktop use?
This is why.
You have a point, that you may as well blame gravity for pulling down. Many technologies do (or at least did) benefit from Windows' popularity, but SSD technology clearly does not.
It does complicate matters for microsoft, perhaps much more than it does for the odf. But I'll be supporting* the odf no less!
*I only really care marginally because there is a free format in competition. It's like fighting over what pen ink to make popular, for crying out loud.
There is the off chance that this scramble for a green olympics will create more eco-awareness for the post-olympics China. Even if it does go to crap, maybe eco-integrity will be better than if they didn't make that effort in the first place?
Doesn't that assume that it's the exact same size as earth too? The article refers to it as a Super-Earth
As an example, another super earth mentioned in the wiki article, Gliese 876d, has a mass of at least 5.8 earths, but it's been estimated that it's radius is 1.4 earth-radii.
I haven't reinstalled it the since ff3 release candidate 2 binary tarball for linux. It's crashed on me once, and I use flash sites like youtube and newgrounds regularly. I guess your mileage may vary.
He's not announcing his security bugs, but at the same time he's not using deceit or obfuscation to hide them. After a certain amount of time he might release his private notes on what's not already well known by then, but he has no real reason to at the moment. No point in punishing those who haven't upgraded.
I'm not an united states citizen, and based purely on old cold-war documentaries and movies, it seems as though americans were afraid of cultural influence coming from a communist country.
But fortunately, their military, as posted above, has developed powerful weapons such as MTV, patriotic country music, and computer-generated action movies. We don't stand a chance.
Re:Is Linux kernel 2.6.26 == Linux 2.6.26 ?

Linux 2.6.26 Out

For linux, most of the stuff printing to the screen at start up would be the kernel (or if you use the old fbsplash, and not the userspace-straddling app 'splashy', then that's the kernel as well). The kernel may prepare some userspace apps for running, and may require bash or some shell script in it's userland config files, but it would be possible to make a kernel that does nothing but boot and print to screen.
Theoretically, you could hardcode some apps into the kernel itself, or make userland-like modules. Which is actually kind of an interesting idea. But between distros, nobody really does it.

I swaret Slackware.

Maybe instead of killing them, just get them to look for trolls to mod down on slashdot.
Not quite what I was thinking, but it works. The 0.5 is how that one creepy admin stores his porn.
How about we don't use any of them? LaTeX is way better than any WYSIWYG.
+1
It's a shame that LaTeX isn't more widely used. There seems to be a stigma surrounding anything non-WYSIWYG.
The AC is right. How many versions of wordprocessor extensions do we really need?
Three and half.

Or maybe I'm just an optimist.

Only geeks that have money to burn.

As TFA implies, vendors are much more likely to cooperate if you tell them you're buying computers in bulk.
A:
Be prepared to fib and say you're planning to buy 25 computers during the next 12 months.

well played.
I was about to say 'whoosh', but then somebody would reply to me and say whoosh back.
Welcome to Malware 2.0! The semantic web will be even worse, which is why we need to deal with these sorts of issues before we get there.
http://www.solardeathray.com/ another one. They like to burn stuff.
It might be a good business move for Apple if they would 'graciously' give Psystar customers a chance to 'upgrade', and then get Apple support.
Although, if they don't make much money off of the lawsuit, then they might not bother.
Besides, there might still be some copyright issues if they took over Psystar's products without buying out Psystar altogether.
I'm as surprised as you are.
