All to often I find that marketing has an inverse relationship to the quality, and if I will like the product.
When I go to sites and see a large advertising spread I'm more likely to avoid that item then actually buy it.
Not directly but they are wanting Comcast to provide a lot of free services.
Looks like they signed a new contract and now have buyers remorse and want the terms of the old one.
FTA:
The city said that since imposing a new franchise agreement in April 2007, Comcast has violated the 1985 franchise by ceasing to provide free drops and service to municipal school buildings, failing to provide a data network for communication between city buildings, ceased making payments to support local public and educational programming, and closed local public and educational video studios and ceased providing mobile units, equipment, staff and maintenance.
I used to have GameFly a few months back and canceled since it took too long.
It'd take on average 7 days from the time I mailed a game back to when I got the next one.
Taking into account how long I'd keep it, it just wasn't worth it for me. I think I was paying around $25/Mth, and at that subscription fee I could be a new release every two months.
I was tempted to buy a projector a few months ago when upgrading my computer, but heard bad things about the lamp life in them, and the cost to replace them.
I have a CRT going on 10 years, and my LCD going on 4; but from what I saw online the lamps only last about ~6 months, then its another $300 lamp.
"Fortune picked up this report and pointed out the somewhat obvious fact that the >$1,000 PC segment is Apple's by default, since Dell, HP, and Lenovo sell the bulk of their machines in the $500-$750 range, and Apple has only one model selling for less than $1,000."
But you can choose to order what you want from their menu.
I also don't like the majority of their food, but when I buy something I can choose what I want in my order.
I can tell them to give me a "#5, no meal, and a coke" because I may not like the hash brown.
But on a CD I don't have that option... I get the songs that the makers want me to get, and I may not like them all, so the way I perceive it as "I'm paying $20 for 2 songs" as opposed to say "20 songs for $20".
Who says they have to give you a trial, or even charge you.
They got detainees in Gitmo, that have been there for years with out trial or eve being charged with a crime.
Somehow I don't think the rhetoric of "You used illegal surveillance to jail me", will do much to convince them to let you go.
Our government will do anything it wants, and no one is going to stop them. We the people have already show how apathetic we are to this treatment.
But hay, enough with all this thinking and having opinions; American Idol and Survivor are on!
Why not tax electricity for the RIAA? After all, we all know music pirates have to use electricity to make illegal copies,
therefore all users of electricity must be music pirates! (This is the kind of logic we're talking about here).. HUSH, Before they hear you!
Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame?... if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you,... -V from V for Vendetta
I remember seeing these demonstrated at my college a few months back. At the time we could use them to point, and type things; but they were very slow and somewhat inaccurate.
At the time they did not have a "Backspace" method, so when you typed "O" instead of "P" you would still have to use the keyboard to delete it.
I agree that a vendor of IP or software related products could prevent the resale of their product. After all whats to stop me from making a copy and then reselling those to make me profit. (I'll abstain from getting into a discussion of DRM)
But for a physical product anyone should have the ability to resell it. I cant very well make a copy of an E-Meter, or other physical item without expending work and effort on my end. (Until they invent replicators)
It also sets a bad presence.
What if publishes of books want it to be illegal to resale books? Those college text books you bought at such a high premium, could not be resold and recover a few dollars; or all those book reselling stores / sites would go out of business. Its been years since I bought a book new.
What if manufacturers made reselling vehicles illegal, think of all those used car salesmen that would loose their jobs and then who would we have to make fun of?
What about houses?
I do sometimes wonder if the internet was better off as a geek thing and not something the main stream adopted.
It's becoming more and more about exploitation of the user.

Don't forget, they can also retire sooner too... So they can retire sooner and receive benefits longer.

Looks like Pluto is off the hook. He calls it a "Planet".
I thought Spore was a game?

Found a YouTube video of it, but I think this one from a different company.
