Phoenix has a neat little tool from the University of Central Florida to help with the color-

They're called color-calibration targets and are about the size of hockey pucks. Each device is covered with color chips, designed by University of Central Florida Physics and Astronomy Professor Dan Britt and two students. When Phoenix's camera takes pictures of the terrain, it will also capture the calibration targets, allowing scientists to compare the colors in each photo and determine the actual hues.
Of course it spans 6 pages. That way if you like the article - they get 6 ad views. Perfect for them
The very first thing to do when visiting sites that do this is to find the 'print' button. That puts the article on one page and usually removes annoying animation...
What sort of budget limits do you guys have for your show these days? I remember seeing some earlier episodes where money really seemed to be an issue
Along this same line... Wouldn't it be easier on the post-production budget if you spent $10 on some paint and/or duct tape up front, instead of blurring logos and such after filming?
I recommend "A Practical Guide to Linux" by Mark G. Sobell for a very good distro neutral book. Although it might be a little light on admin specific stuff.

Here's an online Linux admin guide I stumbled across awhile back-
http://rute.sourceforge.net/
For Linux specific security, I recommend "Real World Linux Security - Intrusion Prevention, Detection, and Recovery" by Bob Toxen (Prentice Hall ISBN 0-13-028187-5).

All "smart but inexperienced Linux users" should follow the guidelines Toxen presents before ever connecting an ethernet cable (or modem) to the machine.

Silencing a Hard Drive Using Household Items
I've found a standard ballpeen or claw hammer works well...
A 3 or 5 pound sledge also works, but those aren't typically
household items.
I haven't gotten the chills from a game since Doom2.
I haven't gotten chills since I was eaten by my first Grue.
Sheesh! Kids these days...
and Oh BTW- Get off my lawn!

Oh, no they don't. They can't do that to MySQL.
They can do it to TheirSQL, but not MySQL...
Screw that. I'm STILL waiting for my flying cars.

visit the website.
I was doing SysAdmin/Webmaster work at the time

Sure enough- Worst. Slashdotting. Ever!

Wow! Congrats on the longevity. I remember meeting the crew

The blurred image is really an annoyance...

Naaaw. They come with CERTIFICATES of Authenticity.
At least that's what the weird looking guy with
bad teeth and funny ears said...

candiates hoping the zlib, OpenSSH and other
recent security fixes would be incorporated.
I can't find mention of these updates for 8.2 on
the Mandrake announcement site, or forums.
Anyone know if zlib and the gang have been fixed?
My query about this on the Mdk forums was
immediately marked as "-1: Offtopic" suggesting
to me the fixes are not there.
