Someday, I imagine movie media becoming like Steam.
You buy a media player with a hardware key.
You buy a movie with an individual key (per movie)
When you play the movie, you authenticate against a server to play it.
Hardware keys that are cracked are invalidated.
Software keys that are cracked are invalidated.
Unencrypted copies won't play in a standard player.
No, I'm not saying this would solve the "problem" per se. I'm just saying I can imagine these people trying to use it in order to further protect their interests.
Not only is it useful on computers, it allows people who don't want to spend money on a Jesusonic hardware device to go ahead and write new effects for the Jesusonic.
Now there is someone who is completely devoid of marketing, or corporate thinking. He actually has the notion of contributing something on the basis of realizing that some people won't pay for something.
I suppose at this point he's pretty much made for life, and doesn't have to worry about money anymore. Still, how admirable.
#2: This Roland Piquepaille stuff is getting on my nerves. There is
obviously some kind of either backdoor deal, or favoritism for this guy
getting stories.
Where is your journalistic integrity?
Hey Slashdot! I feel like having the option to block this guy out on
my Edit Home Page Page.
I mean, he has more submissions than "samzenpus," whoever the hell that is.
Don't force me to write a RSS filter that blocks phrasewords out. I'm
feeling too lazy atm.
We have the ability to keep knowledge of some of the greatest minds, and provide that knowledge to everyone? But no! "What's that little girl singing about? Let's put her on a CD, to be kept forever!"
I wish I had the exact quote, but it felt fitting to find out that this is what people want to know about on the Internet.
What, you thought he'd be out getting laid?
With a name called "That's Unpossible" commenting on fixing social security, I may have just found the most beautiful irony I've seen in weeks.
More suitable? In the security sense, you mean? In that case, it's Microsoft's fault that he's able to code an ActiveX app in MFC at all! Not his.
Looks like Brian Hook is getting seduced by the dark side of the force.
I hope they don't cast Jar Jar along side her for this. I might never be able to get an erection again.
Since I choose to install the RPM files from MySQL, some of the other packages that are now dependent on it (e.g: dovecot) fail to install.
Yippie.
You mean like that dreaded Firefox.exe that keeps spreading like mad?
By all means, do you have any predictions for 2005. I find your posts interesting. Got anything to contribute this time around? ;)
*sigh*

The phone companies will still be around. They'll just profit further by no longer having to support phone towers, or CDMA / GSM systems.
With your hand? ;)

Why don't they force all vehicles on this road to be Canyoneros?

Weekdays at 5pm.
Selinux anyone?
Having something like PATH=/usr/* would be useful.
24 more years to try and get laid.
I think acceleration and top speed are waaay overdone as metric for what make a "production vehicle."
- - Cleaned up, overhauled, removed, and ported a lot of code (asm to C). [pagefault, MKendora, Nach]
I think they're addressing that shortcoming. It's pining for the fjords!
Someone needs to make a Linux emulator on Windows called "BLOW".
