Flowers for Algernon is a good example of a depressing work. Very sad. I had forgotten all about that book. Not sure it was appropriate for a 6th grade class.
I'd add Frankenstein to the list. Everybody dies in the end, because one man couldn't handle what he had done. And the "monster" couldn't handle being alone.
There are only 50 states, and Arkansas is not bankrupt. I know we live in the backwards south, but guess what the people here know how to vote for fiscally responsible citizens. I'm sure a few other states are okay too.
Edit: So after RTFA it looks like the third movie will be stuff gleaned from Tolkien's other works, not anything that actually occurs in the novel The Hobbit.
I work with children (I'm about to turn 34, my "boss" is only 22, the owner is only 32, I think the average age is probably 23 or 24, we have a good mix of men and women), and we never have a problem with sexual harassment. Either grow up real quick, or don't hire a woman.
This case may not be a good example, but I can see criminals buying 3d printers to print guns. Hell I thought of it myself in the last week wondering.if it was feasible.
Cause they are not filled with crazy white American men.
Seriously, only Muslims and White American men do this kind of thing. I don't think there has ever been a Chinese-, African-, Japansese- American serial killer.
Maybe, that's why the US hates the Islamic nations so much.
That's just not true. I've used a single shot shotgun before, and I can easily get off three shots in less than 30 seconds. With a little practice, I could probably do better.
Sometimes I want to play a game with a good story. (i.e., Dragon Age, Skyrim, Final Fantasy 7.) These games can be a lot of fun. They can also be annoying as hell.
Sometimes I want to play a game with no story (i.e., Halo, Call of Duty, so on). These games can be a lot of fun. They can also be annoying as hell.
It all comes down to the mood I'm in when I want to play. Both are just used as stress relievers.
I have kids, and Nick has almost nothing of value. Disney on the other hand is a lot better. The writing for some of the new shows is really good. It's gotten a lot better once the Cyrus's quit/got let go. It's got sight gags for the kids, and it's got some intellectual humor for the adults. Now if they could play more than 3 shows a season, so that we can watching newer stuff more often. Or just play Phineas and Ferb all day (which I highly recommend all geeks on this site watch at least a few episodes. It's really good, IMO).
Even though the Romans were not an industrial society by our definition of the word, I would assume they did use quite a lot of raw materials. It probably took a lot of wood, and forges to keep the Legions armed. Not to mention all the burning of all the Christians by the Emperors. This could be one explanation of why it was hotter back then. Just brainstorming, IANAS. And I don't believe in Global Warming according to current theories.
But Almighty Steve gave them Jobs building all the iDevices. This was an area that they were lacking in before.

The mode series is also very depressing. The end of the last book, maybe not so much. But the other three are.

Very depressing stuff.
If they are like my coworkers their Monday headaches are caused by drinking too much on the weekend.
Glad I use this chip for first post.

But yes most are bankrupt.

I could see splitting the movies at the point where the Battle of Five Armies occurs, but a third movie? I agree that will probably suck.
Why not just buy a new hard drive and stick in there? Then you can nuke the old hard drive and not worry about it?

I was wondering how long until someone could circumvent the law with a 3-D printer.
In Soviet Russia, you give your bonuses to the CEO.
Oh wait, I guess it's not funny when it's actually true.
And new taxes, that will inevitably be passed on to the middle class.
Does it even matter when all of the programming would be outsourced?
No matter how secure the system is, if a third party has the keys, someone else will have the money to buy the keys.
I saw this movie. Luckily, Bruce Willis was able to drop a suburban on Lucy Liu and save the country.
That's not what I said at all I'm sure the number is closer to 99.9% but I'm sure someone rose would have taken offense at that also.

in another news, in USA I have used a gun, I have seen a gun and I have seen someone firing one, but I've never seen anyone killed by one.
In fact, I at least 90% of Americans (outside of the military) have never seen anyone killed by a gun.

This is slashdot, since when was anybody on here worried about legally acquiring anything?
