  2. giant wad of bubblegum? on Swiss To Build Orbital Cleaning Satellite · · Score: 3, Interesting

I hope this cleaning satellite is a giant wad of bubblegum with a couple of boosters attached to it. It'll just float around getting in the way of the little stuff, all of which will stick to the bubblegum. We all know how well gum picks up little bits of metal like the keys to a jail door, so it should be perfect for satellite debris.

Seriously? God of War is the game I cite for having a particularly infuriating and lousy gameplay. After l I hit one of those "walk the planks between ships" bits and managed to fall off the same planks and die about eight times in a row I quit in frustration and refused to touch it again. Maybe the rest of the game is fantastic, but it simply wasn't worth the trouble to keep trying to find out, and if I game isn't worth the trouble of playing, it's a pretty bad game in my book. I can't think of a single other game I've felt that way about in a very long time.

I disagree - but I'm unaware of any way we could come to a conclusion as it is merely the opinion each of us holds about what a whole bunch of people we don't know "really" think.

Wise words. If there was one thing I really wish could be illegal, it's other people telling me how they know what the person they're complaining about *really* thinks (and inevitably it's because that person is stupid, greedy, or willfully hateful -- all of them sometimes true, but not nearly as often as the demonization is applied). It's one thing to understand someone else's argument and simply not agree with them, but it's pretty deplorable to latch on to a gross misrepresentation of their point and conclude they're simply bad people.

Most people struggle to clearly articulate their own thoughts on complicated matters; it's pretty worthless to think you can summarize what's going on in someone else's head, let alone the heads of a large group of people.

If you believe in a company, that is a sure-fire indication that you should disqualify yourself from buying their stock, because it means you have a biased view.

I keep telling myself this every time I recall getting that $5k profit share in 2000 and briefly considering putting it all in Apple stock, but then decided to do the 'sensible' thing with my first investment account and diversify across a bunch of mutual funds instead.
