  1. Remember Habbo Hotel? on 'Free' Games Dominate Top-Grossing Game List On App Store · · Score: 2

When I was a teenager I used my household phone to ring up hundreds of dollars worth of virtual furniture in Habbo Hotel. I never got caught. No one noticed. These companies are making money off of people like me (as a teenager).

  2. Sure on SF Authors Predict Computing's Future · · Score: 2

I've learnt over the years to completely ignore any predictions made on a time based framework. They are just pulling that number out of their ass. They haven't performed intense and complicated calculations to determine when such and such is going to come out, and how. The fact of the matter is that no one knows.

  3. Definitely on Japan Re-Opens Some Towns Near Fukushima · · Score: 1

There will be a lot of elderly people who worked for forty years to earn their home and won't care about a bit of radiation. That is, if they even cared enough to leave in the first place.

  4. We finally got the internet! on Australia's National Broadband Network Officially Open For Business · · Score: 1

I say, mates, this is bloody impressive.

  5. Twilight? on Libraries Release Most-Censored Books List · · Score: 0

Is this from one box of cookies, or all of them?

  8. Sure on Native Apps Are Dead, Long Live Native Apps · · Score: 1

Developers are simply scared of losing profits when their software can be manipulated and redistributed. The solution? Keep everything on their side of the fence. This is not a new idea. It just takes people some time to come up with reasonable sounding excuses.

  9. Make something on Ask Slashdot: Best Certifications To Get? · · Score: 1

Honestly, the best way to make yourself attractive to employers is to make something. It doesn't have to be particularly notable, but it should do something interesting. Nothing impresses a job interviewer more than "I made this". It is in many ways superior to "I spent 4 years getting this piece of paper." Degrees are overrated.

  10. Buggy on Doom Ported To the Web · · Score: 1

I'm sorry to ruin everyone's fun but this is full of visual glitches.

  11. This article is stupid on How To Make a Good Gaming Sequel · · Score: 2

Reading this article made me cringe in much a similar fashion to how I respond to any particular artistic or entertainment based journalism; they are simply full of bullshit. The arts and enterinment industry in general have so little objectivity to comment on that anything but recitation of the facts is akin to heresy.

  12. Good Intentions on Neural Nets Make Art While High · · Score: 1

I think a more accurate title would be "Neural Nets Intended on Making Art While High".

  13. Unsuitable for Socialists on China Luring Scientists Back Home · · Score: 0, Troll

This topic has been censored by the Chinese Communist Party.

  14. Cross platform support on Why You Should Use OpenGL and Not DirectX · · Score: 1

It probably doesn't matter to the big game dev studios, but to the purists, OpenGL's cross-platform support is one of the biggest positives in my opinion.

  15. Well... on Has Conficker Been Abandoned By Its Authors? · · Score: 1

I suppose they just ficked off, then.

Obviously employers DO NOT need to use reverse psychology.

  17. Criticism is better on How To Encourage Workers To Suggest Innovation? · · Score: 5, Insightful

I think first companies need to make employees feel comfortable criticizing their superiors.

  19. Shrug? on Software Piracy At the Beijing Branch Office? · · Score: 1

  20. This is an OUTRAGE on Security Flaws In Aussie Net Filter Exposed · · Score: 1

As the spokesperson for the Australian Child Pornography Union, I must say that us pedophiles are going to make a stand for our legitimate lifestyle in the face of government tyranny. If the filtering scheme is not abolished at once, then we will probably do something bad!

  24. DANGER on Breaking Into Games Writing? · · Score: 5, Insightful

Whatever you do, DO NOT join up with some "game design" course. They are a complete was of time and money. You will learn how to make a script for Spongebob Squarepants, not Bioshock.
