    I thought IE prime function was to cause me to loose hours of sleep writing CC code to fix up for the lack of standards, something my clients really won't pay for. So I guess I'll keep using IE 7 for that and ignore IE8 totally. But here is hoping anyone stupid enough to use IE updates to 8 immediately. Should we congratulate MS for taking 20 years to create a standards browser? Oh whoppie MS you are clever.

    And people wonder why I think the best way to secure peace is to get rid of the US...

    We don't need to get rid of the US, that is a tad unkind, all we have to do is enlighten them. The solution is simple increase the maximum tax rate to 80% and all the selfish pricks will leave, normal people with take over, arms will be turned into plow shears (health care and welfare) and it will be jobs done ready to serve.

    Now there is a pack of pricks that should be laid on a water bed full of petrol with free cigarettes... They own MM because MM couldn't afford any more time in court. Why that wasn't stopped as being a monopoly is amazing. They invent a plugin format for image editors and once everyone is using it the encrypt the format so it only works with their products. If ever there was software that should be cracked it's theirs!

    According to Google I'm 'the vampire killer'. On Thursday, I googled a friend I haven't seen in 15 years, found him on Linkedin and on Friday night we had dinner and 3 bottles of wine. (There was a lot to talk about) Not being too anonymous has some advantages. It's not all negative.

(And thanks to Firefox and Adblocker we can even give their advertising the two fingers.) So the stats they generate mostly for the purpose of selling their own advertising are flawed to the max. GAWD I came out as gay at 17 and told the world to get fuck. It's just another chance to tell the hegemony to get fucked again. And 34,632 people think I'm still classy.

    I've seen this soup in Bali. It's millions of plastic bags used to hold tea that are then disposed of in the gutter, then flushed out of the drains in wet season. Fully disgusting. What better method of disposal will solve that problem... a bin? Don't assume this is plastic coming from the developed world where developed world solutions can be applied.

    Start with Blackboard... you want that out no matter what. Go for Moodle. The rest are just minor apps you can rack them off whenever. Next is IE that has to go. Next Outlook >Thunderbird Move workstations to Linux and put any Windows apps on an application server. If they have to use them they still can. There isn't a lot of point in replacing Windows with Macs so give all the Macs to a charity. Too bad if they don't like Open Office they will get used to it and very likely 95% of everyone don't use the features in MS Office anyway. If you need something else just get the computer department to set that as an assignment, make the students do it. Likely there are SQL server that will need to be replaced with mySQL. When the Blackboard rep comes in offering to buy lunch put a few eees in his wine then introduce him to the vice chancellor. Any MS rep you can usually offer a joint, listen to how stressed he is and get an incriminating photograph. If the Adobe rep arrives just say you have not budget, they won't be offering any freebies. Job done!

    "Dude, it's Germany..." It's also Australia... And China and every state known for restricting political or religious freedoms. Trouble is it doesn't work for the Chinese as the population just use proxy servers at encrypt data. And it's not going to work anywhere else. If these systems were so successful spam would have been eliminated. Instead spam filters add to internet delivery failure of valid information. The Australian system is not even capable of opt out provisions.

    I see... land mines, nuclear missiles, a variety of air strike abilities including cruise missiles, the floating nuclear reactors and their strike power... not enough. They need to eliminate those black privates from the battle field so that their mums don't protest. What year are we going to learn the lesson! American Military Machine has pushed the country to the point of bankruptcy. That's not enough for them they need to make war doable and efficient. Increase the cost of hardware and line their own pockets. What OS are they going to run? Windows? Or something more 'friendly' a Mac OS. I think maybe a Mac OS and if they malfunction and a bomb comes up on the screen, they can then explode. You can't develop or manufacture weapons without the participation of people. If you put all the resources spent internationally into a creative field we would be living in heaven on Earth. Australia might have retained its leading scientists, education would be free to every nation, fusion reactors deployed... What has been lost is truly unknown we can only say that it is greater than a totally stupid number X compound interest. IE we have lost the opportunity for heaven on Earth for generations to come.     Anyone know a bookie taking odds on how long it will be before he is shot? America is just too stupid to appreciate the value of social welfare. Such concepts as a pension at 65, health care without bankruptcy or taking responsibility for unemployment are beyond the US imagination. Nor is any world concern for a tax system which distorts international taxation. (IE why do you think Murdock left Australia... better weather?) But don't worry when push comes to shove the US has plenty of guns in circulation to deal with those who have a social conscious.     RMIT offer a several subject on Java through Open Uni (Australia) www.open.edu.au that can be accessed anywhere in the world. The units are about $700 and the first is based around Savitch - Absolute Java. The advanced unit uses one of the Liang books... http://www.prenhall.com/liang/ Java is a great teaching language. It's the warm up to other things. Despite learning it I'd really prefer never to use it. Here is hoping Jaxer takes off! Yani

    I'm not in New York, Washington, Paris or London... Surely the real threat to me here in Brisbane Australia is not from a terrorist but from a launch by a superpower. F### terrorist BS the biggest threat to our safety comes from the US Military and a failure to push for total disarmament! All stock plies of Nukes do is encourage others to do the same. The real threat is that collectively the weapon states have such big and now old stockpiles that an accident is far more likely than a terrorist attack of destroying the Planet. No terrorist has the ability to destroy the world. The US does! This BS is no more than propaganda for additional spending on military and a reduction in civil rights by a country that is too brainwashed to even have a popular revolt on free health care. There is simply no need to maintain, produce and certainly not deploy these weapons. If the US had pumped the same amount of cash into Iraq as they spent on blowing the place up we could have had a very different outcome. Instead they have polluted the country with DU and turned it into a literal mad house. At massive cost to everyone including the world environment. 99% of the world would be unaffected by the minimal amount of nukes any terrorist group could ever get their hands on. 100% of the world is very definitely at risk from existing weapons. And the US sets the same example here that they do with their own country's health care. Suck up to the industrialists and BS the population into believing this is the only way forward.
