If windows 8 is the trainwreck it seems like it could be, well we might have 2013 as the actual year of the linux desktop and game companies coming along for the ride.
I doubt this. 2013 will not be the year of the Linux desktop. The only reason for gamers to update their OS to a new release is if the current version will not support the hardware they're putting in their machine. Gaming companies aren't going piss off their customers and require them to move to a Linux OS just to play their game so developer support is going to continue for Windows 7 for quite some time. I'd say that reasonably one could assume 2015 or 2016 for the year of the Linux desktop assuming Windows 8 flops very badly. Even then, Windows 7 enjoys extended support until 2020.
Make sure you check the definition of a militant or civilian when you check the figures reported because, you know, nothing's better for making something seem better than redefining something.
I thought the definition of a planet required that the entity have cleared it's orbit. If this entity has no orbit then it has no orbit to clear and since it can't clear an orbit it can't be a planet....
395 racist tweets from a 0.05% sample works out to 790,000 racist tweets for the country. Even if you assume each racist only posted one racist tweet max, that's 0.25% of the country overall being racist. For the state with the highest rate (Alabama) that's 2%. In an effort to root out racism, this study is presenting their results in a careless fashion which could be used to justify discrimination and anti-Southerner stereotypes against 98% of Alabama residents because of a small minority of bad apples. It is doing the very thing it is criticizing.
395 that contained search terms that the searcher decided indicated racist intent. There's no indication that any of the tweets that came up were filtered for actual racist intent. For example "Obama won bitch, niggers back" would have came up as a "racist" tweet. However it's likely that such a tweet was not a racist and that the author of it was probably black. If you look at the clustering of where tweets were coming from you see that a high clustering was occurring in cities like Atlanta, Georgia or Montgomery, Alabama which has a majority of a minority population (54% black and 56.6% black respectively).
The study is flawed and was never properly scrubbed, but the results were posted because it fits a preconceived notion (the south is racist) when the majority of the effect that causes that effect to show may originate from the very population which is the victim of racism against blacks.
They also searched for tweets that contained racial slurs such as 'nigger' or 'monkey' in combination with words related to to the election. Once I read that, I knew that the method was flawed.
Take the state of Georgia. The map for it shows a cluster of "racist" tweets in the area of Atlanta. Atlanta, which has a 54% black population. It doesn't take much to realize that the slur 'nigger' may have been used by non-racists blacks when talking about Obama. Montgomery, Alabama has a 56.6% black population and also had a cluster of "racist" tweets.
I'd take anything presented in the article with a huge grain of salt.
He wasn't labeled a traitor until he released the documents to Wikileaks. I doubt he would have been classified as a traitor had he elected to notify a congresscritter instead.
Consider this. They're data mining to find what to say to get you to vote for them. Most likely, they're data mining out what is causing voters the most angst and fear and basically reinforcing it.
Politics these days is all about figuring out what you're afraid of and appealing to it because fear is one of the most powerful motivators.
If they change residency, then yes they would. However a grant could never apply to a new college student coming from a state which is the most crucial point for getting the talent in the first place.
Grants would only apply to state residents. This solution would apply regardless of the home state of the student. Thus this solution can draw in STEM students from other states which is a boon for Florida since if you have the business environment to support those graduates then you can keep them in state rather than losing them to another.
Ignoring vehicle technology, the companies are way behind the tech curve when it comes to supporting their business. I work in an automotive related industry and based on my experience on how we've interfaced with the big three (GM, Chrysler, Ford), Chrysler is the best position. The fleet business for the big three is a significant portion of their business and I'm honestly surprised that they haven't taken more efforts to support this. Just to explain how the fleet business works (at its most basic level). A large company which has a fleet of vehicles will contact a leasing company to get their vehicles (a lot of fleet do not purchase their own vehicles). The leasing company, in turn, will then handle getting the truck into the company's hands. Often times these fleet vehicles must undergo some amount of upfitting before the end company will get them. This may be as simple as some decals. So the leasing company gets an upfitter to do that work. The trip of the vehicle in question then is often Manufacturing Plant to Upfitter to Manufacturing Plant to Rail Car to end destination depot onto a car hauler and to whatever staging area is used for the company to pick the vehicle up.
Chrysler has been, since about 2009, attempting to track where their vehicles are until they reach the final destination. That means when they're on a car carrier train car, at some upfitter doing work, on a car hauler, or if they've arrived at a dealership. They've also been smoothing out their shipping process by outsourcing some of their final shipment processes (like printing monroney window stickers) to upfitters who do work on their vehicles before they ship to dealerships. I've seen no similar efforts on GM or Ford's part so perhaps this is a sign that GM is going to try to get a better grasp on their chain.
That is like saying we can eliminate the threat of nebular war by disarming all of our nukes, and hope our enemies see things the same way.
I didn't realize nebular war was a serious concern. I'm also not certain how disarming our nukes it really going to have any impact on whether a nebular war would occur.
Big plays.
Impressive plays.
Like Indianapolis scoring the game winning touchdown Sunday with 0:00 remaining on the clock.
Just get a Healing Belt and you're top notch.
So you're saying that NASA forgot that Curiosity was in the middle of a clay field and is getting excited about it?
$100,000 is cheap when compared against the cost of damages cause by said unguided bottle rockets.

We shall call them "clone 6-pack generators".

Being forced to withdraw from Iraq? Our Iraq withdrawal followed the timeline set by the Bush administration. Manning's stunt happened in 2010.
Neither the Wehrmacht or the Waffen-SS engage in any of the activities you claimed.

France realizes it. Google flat out told them if the law passes they will delist the French news organizations.
France's response? "You don't threaten a democratically elected government."
