The summary says nothing about where the ebooks come from, so does a book store allow the mere users to load any ebooks they like, or is it encumbered with DRM so mortals may only read the books B&S sells? I see it reads PDFs at least.
Lending to friends(In TFA) sounds suspiciously like copying, which distributors are supposed to hate, so how does one "lend books to friends"? is there a limit to how long they read for, before the file is deleted? or perhaps you can only lend them the first few chapters?
Looks spiffy, but I'm wary of the DRM it'll undoubtedly have. Will wait and see what others say about it first.
Perhaps not "as bad as the registry hell", but I would still prefer if Firefox blocked both of them until they were deletable like all other addons. I mean, have some backbone mozilla, if people don't do things properly, give them a nice big "FAIL" and send them on their merry way.
I think the good 'ol pistol duels, or the sword fights before them are more appropriate. but they just prove who's left, not who's right... more fun and less expensive though.
heh, just thought: would make the court cases from the RIAA drones much more fair and definitely satisfying.
But then people would just think that cameras don't work in cinemas because of bad spirits or something. with angry security guards they also get the message across that recording in such a way is illegal and pirating is serious business.
Need sleep badly, but gotta reply. I thought you meant that just having an idea isn't enough, it's a lot harder to be your own boss than to be someone elses bitch, and that a small team of talented programmers will almost always produce something of higher quality than a single person. Of course, people eat mcdonalds, so It could all be in the advertising. Way I see it, if that arkanoid rip-off is competitively priced, with the right advertising, a spiffier interface and generally way better than any other arhanoid rip-off, it should still make some returns? Something innovative would be even better, but we can't all be creative...
Completely off topic, but i'll say it nonetheless.
I was given a free Old Man's War ebook by signing up to some TOR publishing thing. as well as a few others, like Mistborn by brandon sanderson and some others that were really cool. I'd never have heard of them except they were emailed to me for free, now I plan on buying all their books. Just proves to me that the RIAA/MPAA/Book-nonsense-bullshit-association have it horribly wrong. I'm gonna go read that available online one now too.
That's what ABSA south africa does. their security process was better than most. username, password(has minimum complexity), then random 3 letters of a second password(also has minimum complexity). then once you're logged in, if you want to do anything other than looking at the small numbers you get the sms with one time password, and have to enter that.
It would be great if they also sms'd you as soon as you logged in, and gave you a number to reply to if that wasn't correct, but I think they charge extra for that and don't offer the "no I didn't" option.
I like what LloydsTSB does. First, they ask for my username and password, then on the next page, they ask for 3 random letters, like the 2nd 4th and 10th, of another password. not brilliant, but better than username/password and it means if someone gets my details via malware, they have to hope they get the same 3 letters, and they've probably got some system for too many errors.
Sure, totally agree, to get into the UK, I had to wave my passport, and south africa Is the same, but the bloke I was replying to was saying it's required by law to walk around at all times with ID worldwide. which is horribly wrong.
Did you play Doom 3? Some interesting tactics the little buggers used. closest thing i've seen to an adapting opponent. Never seen a good AI in a strategy game though.
That's not the case in Britain. Nor iin South Africa. Although it was for black people during apartheid. I guess I'll start calling your country the land of the less free every day?
... Is this company that makes online gambling software for use around the globe. Everyone from college wanted to get a programming job from them(straight out of college, haha noone did. I got a job quickly by sending my CV around to other companies while everyone was pining for their dream job). It was considered the best place to work in durban for IT. Anyways, I did have a friend who worked there, and he said it was great for his CV when he moved to JHB, and a nice environment, good pay, etc etc.
I guess you either get in with a company that wants to take money unscrupulously, or a company that makes gambling games for people to enjoy, and profits like that. If you go for it, I hope it's the latter.
That's because men are quick and concise in explanations so that there's less noise while the game is on, hence why a grunt is all the communication needed, women talk for so long you forget what was being discussed. Take this thread for example, it was something about FOSS.....
Thank you. my curiousity was battling with my self preservation instincts when I saw that link, but your warning tipped the balance in favour of self preservation.
While not following the law, he's not technically doing anything illegal. France has presidential immunity, according to someone posting above me, and a quick google search to verify.
Atomic likely has worse connotations because of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
A thorough rebranding, one without Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Chernobyl as poster children, is probably the only way to get the scared masses to accept Nuclear power.
I agree with great great grand parent though, this would be awesome in a car, and would maybe help countries lacking oil to break their dependence on it. Not to mention all the benefits to mother nature.
But they probably deal with that after the incident. if so, then if someone is watching it in real time, they can put it on youtube and a hundred other sites the UK police can't reach before the cameras "malfunction".
Random unrelated thought to what I was saying, but I wonder what copyright issues there will be with this game?

same-sex or interspecies, I don't honestly care what my neighbours marry. animal rights activists might, though, unless the goat is all for it.
Wish I could mod this insightful.

note to self: be rich.

Just nitpicking, and I could even be wrong, but isn't "absolute zero" absolute because you can't go below it?

In my experience, that's what she says :-(

If you name it Hyperdrive now, what will you name a FTL drive? Full-speed Hyperdrive? Hi-Speed?
Windows: Hyperdrive 7.
Mac: Hyperdrive Snow leopard.
Ubuntu: Hyperdrive Jaunty Jackalope.
Fine, fine, I'm going...
