Apparently it took over a minute to finally kill the guy, much like Eduard Delacroix in The Green Mile. Fairly sickening. It would be interesting to know how the results would have been if the next "electricide" was DC. If it was faster, then surely the safety issues are with DC, not AC.
Just goes to show that political spin isn't a new concept.
It's reality TV. It's supposed to be completely against reality.
If it was real reality TV, it'd be eleven people waking up in the morning, going to work, hating their job, coming home, eating dinner, then sitting in front of the television watching reality TV shows. I mean, who'd watch that?
The word you seem to have misinterpreted is "restrained". I can see how you would be confused. It means prevent, stop, disallow etc.
There is nothing stopping the person from seeking employment with a competing company by saying "If you choose to work for a competing company within $term after contract termination, you will not receive your Golden Handshake." They are absolutely not prevented from seeking competing employment, they just have to way up the pay packet of the new job against the severance package of the old one. It's entirely their call, either way.
Weeks? These are torrent trackers; With DHT, centralised trackers are at best a convenience. Not having them will only add some legwork to those looking for files, it won't in any way stop access to them.
The genie is out of the bottle, and they're making copies for everyone to enjoy.
No, with the internet it's OMG (don't) think of the kids.
I guess it would be like BT Cloud access here; You have an account, you are presented with a default login form when you connect to an access point, you log in (or register) to connect to the tubes. Only unlike BT Cloud, it doesn't cost stupid money.
Devil's Advocate here, but does that mean they shouldn't be sued for their infringement?
I paid to see the film at the cinema. I feel ripped off twice over; I paid for something I could have received for free, and the film wasn't all that great anyway. I can't get a refund from the movie company or the cinema, but I can still be peeved at the folks who leaked it. IMHO, by the way, it's the leak who should be sued, not the consumers.
I wouldn't mind if they'd said full 720p on a 600-line screen, but it's 1080p. That's almost double the resolution the screen is physically capable of.
I'm willing to bet a large sum of money that the person who translated that report for general release to the English speaking press knew that well in advance.
Rubbish. Your lack of basic safety checks could kill someone, so you're damn right you'll get hosed in court if you don't do them. A better analogy would be issuing a product recall for a minor adjustment to the gear ratios, then finding out that it came back with only 12 gears instead of the advertised 18 you bought it with.
Still, you all bought the damn thing knowing full well what was in the EULA. More fool you, firstly for not reading it and thinking "GTFO I'll buy a pretzel for the walk home" and also for thinking that the fact the EULA should be unenforceable is a good enough reason for a court case.
Idiots continue to put up with the "release now, fix later" model of software development? Continue to have sub-standard produce foisted upon them because an application isn't a product you can hold, and therefore has gotten around merchantability laws on a technicality?
Yup, the general population repeatedly bending over to big corp budgets sounds like real life to me.
Microsoft issues a patch. This conversation follows:
Customer: Hey. This app stopped working. What gives? Support: Yeah, Microsoft issued a patch which broke it. It's Microsoft's fault that they have a buggy OS. C: Hey Microsoft, what gives with this patch breaking my app? Microsoft: The code used by that app was vulnerable to exploitation. We fixed it. You developer used code which was exploitable and will need to fix it. C: Hey, Microsoft say they made my PC more secure with this patch. Apparently your rubbish code was exploitable. You knowingly sold me software which had a vulnerability which could result in serious security issues? Shit, I hope your legal team is well paid. S: A patch is on the way. Please don't sue.
Considering you work in a profession which relies heavily on perfect grammar and sentence structure, I feel obliged to tell you that the phrase you're looking for is "I couldn't care less."
Please see here for a detailed explanation of why the US phrase "I could care less" is not at all appropriate.
Oh, and while we're at it, what the hell is satellite location doing in a damn canyon?! I can't get decent signal driving between tall buildings; The Grand Canyon is just under two miles deep at places.

s/number/code;
Indeed. And for when it turns out to taste like you just heated up a biological waste bin, you can drown it in ketchup.
I'm not sure I need this book.
Just remember to never ever cross the streams.

Yeah, it's called Distributed Hash Tables and Peer Exchange. TPB hasn't been a tracker site in quite a while.

Mine doesn't. I show my lack of support by not using any product requiring HDCP.

That's some serious stat-padding.
That story states that it has a 1024x600 screen, yet 1080p HD video playback. It has no video output port, according to the description.
False advertising or bad fact checking when writing the description?
Dumblederp <_>

From Chell: I'm in Starbucks, eating cake!
From GladOS: I find that quite unlikely.
The pub?

Damn right!
Team America was a warning, not a manual!
I think you mean "You be hearin' me, biatch?!"
A very accurate synopsis! Now, i wonder if you could help me with a definition of the word "pedant." An example of a "pedant" in action may help.
(I'll take that tongue out of my cheek, now.)
