EEEPC with a Data Card? Seems the remind me more of that then a cell phone. Not saying it's bad thing though. I never could get too much into the smart phone thing. Ever new phone I get breaks faster then the last. Personally I miss my Nokia 5180... cause man that thing could place calls, had a basic calculator and that was about it. But if an H-bomb went off, it would still make and receive calls! God I am old ;~(

I used microwave link style setup for almost 3 years and it worked rather well. The cost is rather reasonable usually. It was 25 a month for 1.5mbit/384kbit. Just might save the headache for you and the old man ;)

  7. I really doubt VIA did this blindly. on Pushing a CPU to Heat Death, Intentionally · · Score: 1

I am sure they tested this before doing it. If you notice they also put a 2 week limit on how long they let it run. At the end of 2 weeks they will mess with it by adding heat till it dies. If I had known early this would have been a pretty safe bet.

  8. I agree. But... on Cisco CSO Says Antivirus Money "Completely Wasted" · · Score: 2, Insightful

Even if you made every OS somehow 99.999% malproof somehow. Someone would still be selling a Norton like utility that you need. Security is big business, since fear is the best motivation for buying you can have.

If they couldn't justify the fear, they would themselves research the holes JUST so they have something to patch or utility to sell us. While in a perfect world we could just patch our OSes for bugs and no need for anything running in the background to protect us from boogie men. Companies like Norton, McAfee, and *yes* Microsoft are going to make sure WE NEED THEM, since they see us more as $'s then end users.

There is no promise your pet is going to be the same pet that left you. To me this spits in the face of nature. Not that I am against cloning, but to think you can bring a loved one... even in part back from the dead is a tragic notion.

I have seen this stuff before and remember the pet may not even come back looking the same. Even if they got it looking EXACTLY THE SAME, the memories, the personality, the... soul will not be the same.

All it will do is leave you missing your loved one more. Just let it go, and keep them in your heart. Mittens / Fido will always live on inside you *Yes yes sappy but it's true and you KNOW IT*
