Luckily I was able to take a course like this in my junior year in high school (admittedly this was back in 1998/99). While I can't remember every project we did, the teacher was really into it and the class was very enjoyable. The three biggest things we did that I remember were watching (and/or reading if a film and book were both made, to compare the versions) Blade Runner, Ender's Game and 1984. Those three have stuck with me and made a very big impression, so I'd wager they're a good starting point. Most of the students really enjoyed them and class discussion was always a lot of fun when so much genuine interest was present.
Thank you for the clarification. I seem to have been modded flamebait when it was an honest question because at first glance things did not seem right to me, but I stand corrected!
It's amusing you bring that up. Why isn't apple getting into deep shit with the DOJ for antitrust practices? Microsoft included IE with windows forever and they got in a lot of hot water over it - just imagine if they had FORCED users to use IE.
"Then i go back to my nicely locked down browser (no cookies, flash, etc without my OK) but in the process I've virtually guaranteed that no site i visit will ever get a dime in revenue from me unless they embed the ads from their own domain (haven't quite figured out how to block THOSE)."
There's an addon called "Remove It Permanently". It allows you to remove just about any object in a page (with a few options like similar or by domain). In conjunction with adblock and noscript, the internet is manageable again for me.
As much as I'd like to make fun of the hardcore linux nerds that look down upon all else as inferior, I'd have to say your troll garners 1/10.
Ubuntu isn't bad, I would likely use it full time if my raid array were supported (without having to splice monkey DNA into the kernel). I do dig the interface in Ubuntu far more than post-XP windows, because when they moved to Vista and beyond it sucked ass.
Modded troll, but instead of modding him troll why don't you point out counter arguments? This is a large part of the anti-linux sentiment and dispelling these "myths" if they are indeed such would go a long way in public perception.
As far as I see it, he's right aside from the ad hominem attacks.
To offer up a bit of a comparison, this principle is exactly what landed NASA in trouble back in the 80's, and likely before then too. Management not understanding what was being done and somehow, with this lack of knowledge, assessing acceptable risk.
Sadly it seems like mod composing is a lost art. I started with Impulse Tracker 2.14 (I'm horribly late to the game, starting in 1997) but most of the tracker format applications made after that seem to have lost any kind of spark that made them interesting. It's hard to define.
Schism tracker does quite well in replicating the old IT feel, but ultimately when composing I still prefer to use dosbox and the original IT application. Viewing the old mod files scares me a bit, but I've always been terribly fascinated by 4 channel mods since there are so many limitations. Didn't the mod format itself get upgrades through the years? I could have sworn I've seen 8 channel ones somewhere in the same extension.
Do they run Linux? Can I get a Beowulf cluster of these? :O
The possibilities for awesome here are astounding.
Blizzard? Is that you??
Isn't the entire goal of crossbreeding or selective breeding to alter the genetics of the result in cases like these?
How is that not genetic engineering? It would seem to me it's just a crude form of a control method for doing just that.

But since I'm not on Verizon, I can post this without fear! HAHAHA!
Reading this thread while drunk is very difficult to do while NOT giggling uncontrollably like a grade schooler.
I'm sure we all knew rule 34 would not fail humanity. Or all of jellykind.

Why do I read that in a Baldric voice from Blackadder the Third? Tony Robinson cracks me up.
Thank you for summarizing the entirety of Computer Stupidities - it's reminded me to check for updates!
What will happen if a furry convention comes to town?
I drive a Camaro and resent that comment you piece of crap! .. wait, I see what you mean. Damn it.
There is plenty of irony. You totally missed it.

You don't even need to be a musician to make music nowadays!

Q*Bert is related somehow, but I haven't figured it all out yet. Maybe this will help explain it.
That explains why my cat chewed my 50' ethernet cable in half.
Hmm..
There's a Russia joke in here somewhere, I swear it.
Fat people are the only ones unhealthy due to a sedentary lifestyle?
That's news to me.

You however can eat ass.
I expect it filmed and up on youtube tomorrow.

It boggles my mind.
Whenever I read posts like these I start to wonder if I accidentally walked into a Starbucks.
