Turbine's download manager uses a torrent system for Lord of the Rings Online (and, I believe, for Dungeons & Dragons Online too). The downside is that you have to install their software on your PC, but it seems pretty benign -- only needs to be running while you're playing the game.
They're embracing something that kids are doing anyway. The Scouts have been modifying their program in recent years. They now have a leadership position for Troop Webmaster, a Jamboree on the Internet and have wholeheartedly embraced Geocaching. I would have thought this would be marked as one giant leap for nerd-kind. They're saying it's OK to play video games. Where's the "HUZZAH"?
The requirements talk about comparing prices of games & consoles (and store return policies), teaching others how to play games, balancing homework/videogames, and picking games that will help improve school skills. You know, the kinds of things wediscusshereallthetime?
Now that's some quality TV!
(But seriously, if they make a movie with Robin Williams dressed up as a 3-legged dog saving Taylor Swift from Kanye West, I think I'm totally going to hurl.)
Wool and other animal fiber is expensive, and there is a huge market for it. My wife is happy when a skein of wool yarn costs less than $10, and it's not unusual to see her drop $25 just to knit a pair of socks. Oher animal fibers cost even more -- I think the most expensive one I've seen is Musk Ox, which runs about $150/skein (but sooooo soft). There's some markup involved, plus labor for dying etc, but still -- animal fiber is expensive.
Human hair on the other hand we have no use for -- barbers sweep it into the trash.
Has your friend considered Hillsdale College? They refuse to take any Federal or State funding; the whole college is run on donations by alumni and people who really dislike big government. Just a thought.
Target has a daily sales quota for credit cards and for warranties. It is part of your essential job function. You do it, or else. If you didn't meet quota, management gave you a warning. Two strikes and, well, guess you didn't really want that $0.35/hour raise, did you?
Why not just upload a ton of pictures of polar bears in a snowstorm? (I think the limit is something like 4-10MB for pictures and 10MB for video.)
Not that I'm advocating anything malicious. I just happen to like polar bears and snow.
Gov. Granholm will do whatever it takes to keep herself in office. After all, she is a Democrat in a pretty heavily Republican state (the major holdouts being Ann Arbor and Detroit). Still, she just might "get this one right" if the popular opinion aligns during election season. When the overwhelming evidence appeared that the Mayor of Detroit was on trial for perjury, she called for his his removal from office. Before the scandal, she backed him as a strong leader. Politics... bah.
The Founding Fathers of the US did not think it necessary for every person to go to school. In fact, we did not begin making public education mandatory until 1852, and that was only Massachusetts. It wasn't until 1918 that the US made even elementary school education mandatory.
Somehow we got along without teachers unions, millages for schools, PTA meetings, SAT's, etc. My my, isn't that something.
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
You could make a pilgrimage to Frys. There is one just north of Indianapolis, and two in Georgia just north of Atlanta. Frys often has some awesome deals. And, come on, it's like Geek Mecca.
I regularly watch for deals on SD and check the print ads.
Another good alternative might be Pricegrabber.com to compare various online retailers. You can view product by user rating too.
I didn't see any anti-dumping petitions for Kia's Buy One Get One Free event. Didn't notice any powerful lobbies in opposition either. But then, maybe that's why the Big Three are in such dire straits right now.

That's what she said.
Captain Hammer will save us.
Man, look at the fingerprints on her!

I have cleaned this off of 50+ computers at work. Stupid users. It's about damn time someone shut this company down.
And when the employees steal all of these computers, and then resell them, that'll help boost the economy!
That's alright
