I guess when a mediocre CPU manufacturer merges with a mediocre GPU manufacturer this is what you get.
At the moment AMD's GPUs are the best value you can get. The Radeon HD4850 and 4870 are exceptional cards while Nvidia seems to have botched their latest line - although they're faster, they're hideously expensive for only moderate performance gains above AMD's parts, and have very large power needs.
And just for the record, every GPU I've bought has been an Nvidia one. I'm no AMD/ATI fanboy.
Because when one of the rockets blows up in mid-air and covers half the planet in radiactive debris, it'll dig a PR hole more than deep enough to contain the rest of the waste, making itself redundant.
My understanding is that it's not legal to take any other course of action. The treaty requires an amendment to our constitution and that requires a public referendum.
You're right. Even Crysis is happy with 512MB at even the highest detail levels, up to a respectable resolution like say, 1680x1050. Even at 1920x1200 I'd say 2Gb would still be far in excess of the requirement.
Another demographic it might appeal to is the 'higher number equals better" crowd who might pick it up in a store on impulse.
My issue with cards like this is that, by the time a game comes around which actually needs 2GB of onboard RAM, the card will probably not have the raw performance to play it at a reasonable framerate at settings that would actually utilise the resource. I'm pretty sure it's not the first of its kind either; there was a 256Mb Geforce 6600, etc.
We're really beginning to feel it now. With this card, you're limited to around 1,750MB of RAM on a 32-bit Windows system; 4GB minus the 2GB on the card, minus all the other mapped stuff which amounts to 250MB on my computer.
In summary, I for one welcome our new 64-bit overlords...
But where would you put the charge? Oh, I know - C4 is pliable, it can be disguised as thermal compound! Be tidy though, it detonates when electrified...
We regret to inform you that you are, technically speaking, already dead. Congratulations and welcome to Heaven 2.0, now with seamless transitions! I think you'll find that things are about to get a whole lot better.:)
Release notes:
While reviewing the Heaven 1.0 source, we noticed that it was still dependent on Life 1.0 - it had been occasionally polling its database and importing users without notifying us! This caused some serious problems which Life 1.0 was not designed to tolerate, and we apologise profusely for the inconvenience. In an attempt to make amends, we have decided to merge the databases and deprecate Life 1.0, importing all Life users to Heaven 2.0.
As an additional gesture of good will, we invite former Life 1.0 users to suggest features and improvements to both the Diety Hypervisor System and the upcoming Heaven 3.0.
I was thinking that too. But on the other hand, technology sites have a habit of hyping things consumers won't see for years, like Intel's super-fast SSDs for example.
The worst thing about that was that it was nothing but a cynical move to get people to use Vista, not any technical limitation. I've completed the game in XP for god's sake.
Gah! They block access to trackers and you pay them more? No wonder we're screwed...
None shall be spared. We will lay waste to their threads and mod down their women!
What a title...
An application you really, really do not want to debug.
Why on Earth was this modded troll?
"Are you being sarcastic?" "I can't even tell anymore."
I can tell from some of the letters and having seen quite a few sarcs in my time.

If you can't find a parking spot, turn on the AC stealth camouflage and starting crashing into everyone else...
I feel I should SCOld you for making those terrible puns...

only the irish people were asked in a referendum

Yup. Their mind-reading device needs urine in order to penetrate tinfoil hats.
Think about it, I have a device that works as expected, can I be on the news too?
If you can land it on another planet millions of kilometres away, you sure can!

the number of games released each year for the PC that *require* a card like this to run at high settings can be counted on one hand
Nope! Even limbless amputees can hand-count that figure.

You mean real privacy with no rules or moderation. Only the latter make /b/ what it is.

"Comcast" and "Hassle free" in the same sentence? What's going on mods? I don't see a +5 funny!
Heh, yeah. That damn font dialogue!
The worst thing about that was that it was nothing but a cynical move to get people to use Vista, not any technical limitation. I've completed the game in XP for god's sake.
motherf*cking
Phew! That's a deeply offensive letter, thank yo* for censoring it!
