I fully agree with this for a few reasons.
1) Teacher workstation. Excellent idea we use on my campus. I set up a teacher podium with a desktop computer. In the necessary rooms, i mounted a projector on the ceiling connected to the teachers computer. This works great. the teacher has access to resources on the network needed for teaching, the students are not distracted by myspace and youtube during class.
2) We have a computer lab on each floor(2 floors) with fat clients. We really dont need the fat clients since these labs are generally used for typing and simple internet browsing. ive brought thin clients up with management and we might migrate to thin eventually.
3) Laptop carts. A good idea. Remember to use sign out sheets complete with the name, date, and time periods of laptop check out. Number the laptop carts as well. LP1, LP2, etc. Keep the carts in a location where you can keep an eye on them and are able to enforce and check the sign out sheet. Its critical when you have laptops floating around campus on a cart to have a sign out sheet to keep track of them. people dont like to have to return the carts. trust me on that one. Got me running around campus trying to find laptops. Also lock the laptop down to the cart, and lock it down on the network as well. maybe even keep it off the domain depending on the needs of those using it. a laptop floating around can easily be snatched up by anyone.
I don't understand why people would take a picture of themselves when theyre breastfeeding their baby and actually want to show it to people. just seems like something you do in privacy.
I agree with you. No way i'd buy a Wii just to play another "adult" game that i could be playing on my 360 or even my computer. I think Nintendo should just stick primarily with it's family friendly games. Maybe release some teen or mature shooting games, yeah. But to make a headline of it is kind of pointless for the reasons you stated.
$700 million more taken away from schools. Absolutely pathetic when the government makes cuts to facilities of education, where people are supposed to go to have materials to further their lives in the best way possible. Absolutely pathetic government and i am disgusted and embarrassed to live in a country that cuts funding to schools in any way. Education is the only thing we have left, and to take away from that is the suicide of the country we(whoever lives in the US) live in. No education, no future. Period.

Breach of rights? What rights? The right to NOT have your DNA stored in a government database if you were to get arrested for committing a crime? I didnt know that was a right. Isnt the crime more of a breach to my rights to live well than the government keeping a database of the people who actually commit the crime in the first place?

Seems like the main marketing tool apple uses to promote macs is safety from malware. i dont know about you guys, but i use windows and i dont have any malware. could it be that a large number of primary mac users really dont know much about computer functionality to begin with? could be. the only people that i know that actually use a mac for everyday stuff really dont know anything about what it is theyre doing. so they buy a windows pc, plug er in to the internet and get malware, then blame it on windows, or PC as Apple marketing calls it. if that doesnt tell you something about apple, then nothing will.
If the kids spent the time actually studying various IT subjects that they spend playing various online games, they would be smarter and probably know how to do more than "troubleshoot" hardware.
kids can adjust game code now? Wow, and they learned that from playing WoW? I guess i should play more WoW then, i could use some programming classes.
Wow, i was really curious if "nerds had a place in society now". i was worried that nerds didnt belong and should have been banished.
