$30 a month, from January to May, then I moved into a place that already had a cable connection. Got to keep the DSL modem (want to buy a used DSL modem?), the router, and the card.
No I'm not posting my credit card bills, but thanks for making my day, I didn't realize I had gotten such a sweet deal!
I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. tehdely is absolutely correct, 1 router + 1 built in XP firewall is all you need to prevent your connection from getting wasted.
If you need a router, call up Verizon or someone and they'll give you a router for free. If you can't get a free router from your ISP, you're doing it wrong.
If you haven't already read the book, go ahead and pick it up. Even if you don't agree w/ what he writes, forcing you to think about this shit will make you a better programmer.
What he writes at the very end is the absolute clincher, makes going through the book quite rewarding.
We (my fellow slashdotters) did this already, it was a slashdot story about audio alarms. Someone would have one sound (cricket chirp) go off go off when a web server was hit, another sound (bell) go off when a new mail arrived, etc. Loud noise meant an attack going off, lack of noise (when given constant sound, the sudden quiet is jarring) means the server is down.
It's the "Spinning Cube of Potential Doom", for God's sake you fuckers! Couldn't you have at least wondered what an "Wailing Alarm of Ultimate Death" sounded like? >_<
The United States invaded Iraq. If that isn't proof that the number of journalists with integrity has dwindled to single digit numbers, I don't know what is.
You claim that the post you're responding to is "unqualified". If you were "qualified", you'd be out there defending this country instead of posting to slashdot.
Incidently, why bring up Jayson Blair instead of Jack Kelly?
Argh, it's like everything else: X is good. X is fantastic. If everyone has X, we will all be better off. So everyone gets X. Strangely, X's value and/or utility decreases. WTF
The guy who had the most detailed Ogre Battle fansite on the net has moved on to other things. Almost all of the Quest folk (including the guy who masterminded the series) involved in OB64 were picked up by Square halfway through development, which is why "stuff happened".
Ogre Battle 64 is my favorite game of all time, and the music is a staple in my MP3 player. It is a goddamned shame that we may never see a game of this caliber.
Mac IE isn't a direct port, it's a ground up app using RealBasic. Things that bother you in windows IE wouldn't bother you in Mac IE. Mac IE was the first browser (I think) to fully support CSS 1.0.
I think the browser is no longer being worked on and the team was canned. If so, brilliant fucking move. >_<
Although I'm reasonably sure there must be a way to get the patches through a non-windowsupdate.com way. via technet or something. I dunno.
I was actually gonna say it's kinda necessary to keep IE around because there are too many sites that don't support Opera or Mozilla and there's just no other way to get at that content >_< Or when Adobe Acrobat starts acting up and the only way to look at a PDF is in IE. (I didn't configure this PC, I'm just stuck using it...) Also MSDN and other HtmlHelp things need IE to view.
Reverse the polarity!
Trust me on this...
Feel free to mod me down but:
ROCK THE FUCK ON!
Ok, do we get to shoot them in the head w/ a shotgun?

Um, I specifically mentioned Verizon because that's where I got my Linksys router & Linksys WiFi PCI card, for free.

Companies think they can shovel "sound cards" like the Audigy on consumers, that's what happened to PC Gaming Audio.

Next story.
Please elaborate.

What sort of problems? (just curious)

Developed or Produced?
Bling bling, bitches.
Nyet. I have not touched it, but I assume it is superior to Visual Basic.

Of course, I read about this in DDJ a while ago. If I'm wrong, I blame them ^^;;
In another forum, my sig reads, "Disclaimer: I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about."

Stupid question: aren't Active Scripting and JavaScript teh same thing? In IE, anyway?
Until they give it a name on par w/ "spinning cube of potential DOOM", it's not gonna cut the mustard.
Speaking of which, ever since I read that article, it's been pretty much downhill for everyone else's project names too. Hm.
Damn straight.
Please honor his memory and love a fag today.
