Hulu has tons of that content, foh free.
Slashdot, reddit, and a plethora of web comics/reviews (shout-out to Yahtzee) provide hours of entertainment daily as well.

The world produces a lot of excess mercury and it would be cool to see a new application for it -- despite any health issue associated with the substance.

It would seem to me that physical principles govern the world in which we live. All of which can me shown mathematically.
Some goofy apes using maths to run their roomba or make money isn't exactly mind blowing of frightening.
But then again i'm not the target audience of this story.
We found this thin layer of stuff enveloping our planet, haven't confirmed it envelops the other desolate planets in the neighborhood, don't have good predictions as to what it actually does there... and we want to talk about harvesting it for fuel?

Doubly invisible if you keep it in a dirty magazine. That is, it would be, if the pages wouldn't keep getting stuck together. Or would that just make it triply invisible.
that doctors are still being wooed by the drug companies when this is and has been for some 20+ years an obvious case of conflict of interest? It's an entirely new class of absurd....
That Command and Conquer is moving to a Pay 2 Play system. I don't care if electronic arts is ToDaLly - 4 it or not. The people wont go "4" it. Also there is no way 4 million already signed up, someone cooked that number on a spoon.

Was it some big deal that google was not allowed to map streets via this method in Israel?
