    This would be awesome ARM is simple enough that I can actually build the computer myself. A little board I can put inside my monitor with a few usb ethernet all consuming a few watts (posibly with an FPGA for reconfigurable computing) would be so perfect and so fun for me.

    ok your laptop is SIGNIFICANTLY faster than any pc available at XP's launch. I would recomend reinstalling as xp should be pretty fast. If that fails to improve things then your notebook has something seriously wrong with it. As for linux distros debian net install with flux box. My desktop is only slightly better than that laptop and I run an XP/debian duel boot with no issues.

    chips near the centre of the wafer are higher quality. All google is asking for are these chips instead of a random mix of those from all over the wafer. This is why some chips over clock far better than others even though they were produced at the same week from the same plant. They can presumably ask for this because they are buying such large quantities. It's quite a novel way of saving money though.

    I am a student off to university even though I am 18 and am classed as an adult,can vote and be tried in a court as an adult I cannot buy my own damm knives (even cutlery) and have had problems buying things like screw drivers. This has greatly inconvenienced me.

    The latancey is falling. It has to wait the same amount of cycles but is running at a faster clock.

    that seems unreasonably cheap considering it costs more than that just to get to orbit in a Soyuz capsule. 700 million seems more probable.

    ah I'm getting two books mixed up the one I am thinking of also has a Chinese/asain space ship but it involves a utopian civilisation that evolved when mechanisation made physical items worthless. Didn't think too much of space odysesey's I thought ramma was far cooler.

    As an engineering student may I just say thats a bad idea. People trying to enforce their morals on me by encoraging a holistic understanding just annoys me. If I want to build a death ray for a mad dictator I will. Also that would mean less time studying what I'm actualy paying for.

    The speed of the development of high speed internet will make flash drives obsolete. It's possible to download 32GB in 7.1hrs today (not in America) and the speed at which connections are growing in capacity far outstrips the development of flash media. So expect that in a few years you will download the latest movie from bit-torrent.
