The world wide web does no have enough social networking sites. It simply needs more. =D
I never heard about this one. As someone who plays games I don't see a need for a social networking site to talk to other people about games, I'd rather just play them.
i[Now, if it turns out he was indeed following all local / state laws, then the authorities certainly owe him an apology at least.]i
Yeah, I bet they will slap their wrists and say they are very very sorry and it'll never happen again too.
I have a computer. One of those new fancy technology machines that store "files" on it. The local cops should come take it because I may or may not have "illegal" files on it. Once they analyze it they should possibly give it back depending on how they feel. Or they could just keep it. Oh they should also do this without obtaining one of those pesky warrant things. That will help save them time. It won't bother me at all because it's not an invasion of my privacy if it keeps the world safe from evil.
Note: research was done on a closed network and no hackers were able to infiltrate the system in a one hour window proving the closed source superiority
So far it's the best tool I've found. It's lightweight and very fast. I love how easy it is to adjust the exposure and color temps. It's easy to find blown highlights and get rid of them. The downside is getting it to work with my new XSi was a pain. I had to use a hex editor on the executable and convert my CR2 files into DNG files. The extra steps are annoying.
I tried out Lightroom, but there's no way I'd pay $300 for that bloated crap.
I'm definitely going to check out rawtherapee.
I only had one professor that required us to buy a book that he had written and it was actually one of the best text books I bought. The book was paper back so it was light and not a pain to carry, it cost $20 and it was actually relevant to the course.
I doubt he even made a profit on it, he seemed more interested in providing us a fairly inexpensive valuable learning tool. Too bad other professors couldn't be bothered.
I always tried to buy used books or buy from another student. It's quite a scam really, several courses I never even opened the book and passed the class successfully. Books are heavy, and it was a pain having to carry a bag full of them. I wouldn't have minded if they would've allowed a solution to buy a license to an e-book for the semester.
Some of my classmates went so far to buy a book, scan every page and return it for a full refund before the cut off date. What a hassle.
If those knuckleheads ever finalized the OpenGL3 spec it might get more love from game developers and thus make it easier for games to be ported to linux.
I have two boxes. One runs XP which I use for gaming and web surfing, the other runs Gentoo which I use for development as well as a media box/file server. Right now both machines are in the same room so I sometimes use the GUI on the linux box but no KVM and one monitor/keyboard/mouse is a pain. That wouldn't be such an issue if DVI KVM's weren't so insanely expensive.
Firstly, nothing stops you dual-booting both Linux and Windows in order to understand some of the benefits Linux could potentially bring to you. Yes there is, I have no desire to dual boot. I don't want to do and thus I choose not to, just like I choose not to give up my XP box because I choose to be able to play games.
But can we please stop with the "I won't run Linux because of lack of games" statements because they are meaningless." I'll stop with that statement just as soon as I can load up Crysis, TF2, HL2, etc and get the same if not better performance as running them under XP (but not vista because that's just too easy). =D
Believe me if NVidia opened up their drivers and game developers started releasing linux binaries for major games I'd have no problem switching over to linux only.
I was making a joke about the lack of games on linux. That's the one main thing that keeps me from switching to linux. I'm afraid that one day I'll just have to buy a console and give up PC gaming so I don't have to deal with Microsoft anymore.
Agreed. People should be using their extreme CPU cycles for things that matter, like helping the SETI program or running Microsoft Vista.
All the screenshots I've seen have been lo-res as well. I guess no one told blizzard 800x600 is no longer the standard screen resolution. hah.
Has there been any word on the resolution supported by SC2? I find playing SC painful now.

There's a bit more to it than that, from the article:
"The Intel-JaJah combination will enable you to dump your landline phone and use a PC-based VoIP phone without leaving your PC on all the time"
I had no idea jocks were interested in Lego

I think you mean "no security risks"

It's a true slashdot story then.
Speaking as a brit who doesn't like travelling into the prison state any more, I can't see myself attending any large events which are US only.
You mean returning to your prison state right?
I can't wait to try out ReiserFS on it.
I'm having trouble picturing Mila Kunis as Mona Sax.

Yesterday?
Get back to me when I can play the original pong on a lan.
I heard that's fairly immune to virus's.

I remember in grade school being taught how great Edison was. What a joke. It's interesting how they don't teach about real inventors such as Tesla.
By the students who claimed they helped code the initial version and he ripped them off?
That has more to do with the design of the map since each team switches color when going from offense to defense.
really?

Read the title as "Comcast Invents P2P". It seems like something they'd actually claim.
