I have been using various web mail clients since 1996. I firmly believe in them, because no major service has ever lost anything of mine. I have a hotmail account that has been around since before M$ bought them. I use GMAIL now, and I love it! In fact. I have been a comp tech for some time, and basically refuse to use outlook because, I don't need 100mb RAM {j/k}to be wasted on a program I don't ever need to use!
>>>But it does x/y/z...
So does gmail/ hotmail / yahoomail/xmail y mail and zmail too
Ironically now I am forced to use outlook at work, and don't really know it as much as I like to get to know my applications. (yes i like to know my apps that well.)
rejecting myths for testing? How many have you rejected so far (approximatley) What is the hardest myth you have in which to design a test for? Is testing design a criteria in rejecting myths?
I loved the story of that game. Every element of that game made me feel "included" I can't believe I forgot all about it! I loved multiplayer, it was so fun, and playing as the Monster was sweet!
Many years ago, I was kinda poor. I was only 18 I lived with my parents, my job was minimum wage, and my bills were sky high (due to having a better job shortly before... & a few speeding tickets (o.k. more than a few)) I didn't have enough money to get my family the gifts they wanted. I tried hard to come up with something small and nice for everyone. The computer my parents had way back when was a wee little k6 2-500 and w/a permedia 2 gfx card.....
Everyone opened all there presents around the tree, and well, I hadn't recieved much more than I gave. I wasn't disapointed, but sad that I couldn't do more for everyone that christmas. Much to my surprise, my dad says "Hey there's one more box for you." I see this small square box, ripped it open and (exuse me, I am getting emotional here...) a light shone down from the heavens into this box I held in my hands (or so it seemed). The game Descent II. It was the first time I had really been surprised on christmas since I was 2, but thats a whole other story... It was one of the most meaningful gifts I had gotten in a long time. My dad actually paid attention to what I was into. It felt awesome.
IF YOU WERE ROBBING A BANK, THE SAME ONE, EVERY DAY, STEALING $100 PER SE FOR SIX MONTHS TILL THEY CATCH YOU, IS IT STILL WRONG?
yeah, but this isn't like robbing a bank...
BINGO!
It's nowhere near robbing a bank, infact it doesn't even qualify as breaking the law. It comes down to the fact that I complain about every day.
THIS WORLD DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO VALIDATE DATA!
If it violates their naming conventions, they could have screened for it on entry. Plain and simple.
(But they state in the Eula that you don't own your character...)
That may be true, and you can sign a disclaimer waiving your right to everything, but that disclaimer will not hold up in court, if true negligence is found.
It is soon coming time that we will need to have laws concerning virtual worlds like this one. A blatent, we are not responsible for anything, and you have to accept everything to use our system is fine and dandy concerning FCC interferance, but this is countless hours with a huge ADDICTED userbase, and holds a universe of virtual worlds whose members outnumber most small countries.
What kinda crap are all theese guys whining {canadian} aboat. {/canadian}
If you don't like the system, then protest on another media, & don't use the one you claim to hate.
Thanks GUYS
Slashdot was originally created in September of 1997 by Rob "CmdrTaco" Malda. Today it is owned by OSTG, which, in turn is owned by VA Software.
Slashdot is run primarily by me and by Jeff "Hemos" Bates, who posts stories and manages other sites for OSTG.
Slashcode is wrangled and various other deeds of a technical nature are committed by the OSTG Slashteam: Jamie McCarthy, Chris "Pudge" Nandor, Brian "Krow" Aker, and Jon "CowboyNeal" Pater.
Editorial responsibilities are still handled by Rob "CmdrTaco" Malda, along with the rest of the Slashdot Authors: Jeff "Hemos" Bates, Timothy Lord (Managing Editor), Cliff Wood (Ask Slashdot Editor), Michael Sims, Jamie McCarthy (YRO Sectior), Simon "Simoniker" Carless (Games Section) and Jon 'CowboyNeal' Pater (Editor at Very Large).
Our bandwidth and co-loc comes from Exodus.Net, and our hardware comes from VA Linux Systems. (You can learn more about our setup here.)
I felt the same way when I accidently locked myself out of slashdot! I sure as hell didn't want to be "someone else." Luckily, CowboyNeal, took the time to read my e-mail, and make sure that I was the "real slim shady." I hope that this makes it to the blizzard front page, because I totally agree with you.
Two things I didn't like about the TOS regarding names: 1. no first & last names. 2. no numbers. 3. character limit
DRAGONWEEZEL... hmm. I have had this nick since 1996. I relate with you totally.
Before HOTMAIL was owned by Micro$oft, I had this nick. (o.k. so I am dating myself here...)
It all started back in the BBS days, when once, I was the Flaming weasel (cause I blew fire, and could get my self out of tricky situations) (any INFRARED ROSE fans out there?) Then flaming became a derogatory term, so I had to change that really quick 8')
anywho....

I have allways been frustrated by the fact that if I choose not to get the box, manual, pretty poster, or whatever other crap they throw in there. I should get a discount.
That's how it works for all other software titles
XP has an oem version, no stuff, just liscense. for a fair chunk of change cheaper (say that 3 times fast...)
Thats what I really want! Save money , save time, save the planet by not killing trees... etc!
it's not like a choice of good vs evil. I consume with economics in mind, well, at least bottom dollar over the long run. What ever gives me the most stasifaction at the best price / performance ratio is what I am going to buy. It sounds simple, but to me it means researching purchases over $50, using pricewatch/ froogle, and driving a car thats fast / comfortable / fun/used/ cheap/ and easy to maintain.
oh yeah... LSONE is a lvl 28 Female Gnome Mage on the Draenor Server. Her professions are Herbalism and Enchanting. Secondary skills include 3rd Teir Fishing, 2nd teir (3rd Ready) First Aid, and 2nd teir (3rd ready)Cooking.
Selling Glowing weapons enchantments for 45 s & Shield +30 armor for 50s and Cloak +20 armor for 40 S Selling Herbs in lots, and by bounty(You tell me what you need, I will get it for you within my ability) Mail me for details
I love it! and am happy to say that I was one of the first to purchase a retail copy. The game has been an added joy for me, and (once you regulate how much time you alot to play it each day) it is easy to jump in do a few things, and jump out. I love that. The only complaint is that party size is capped @ 5 instead of 7 or 8
That's not entirley correct. I had the opportunity to see a rapid implimentation of this over the summer(only from a tech's perspective...), and while it was not easy, it was necessary due to the EXTREME number of machines that come in drasticly infected. I don't think I ever fixed that many machines in my entire life, and all in a matter of days.
The only problem I see w/ perfigo is that it doesn't prevent new infections, but is there anything out there that does?
Sure, there may be better ways... I am no security expert. (I thought I was, but that's a whole other post.)
I think, you struck a chord w/ me when you said Moralit is so last century. Last Century, Electricity was just starting to come around. Think about that. You allso say "It's the age of "I should be able to do what I want even if it hurts others, especially when I can do it and no one will catch me.""
Who are you hurting? If yur taste testing music, your hurting someone? come on...
Just playin devils advocate here. I believe we need some copywright laws, but I believe that even 25 years is too long. Should be 10 or 15. Things are just evolving too fast now to even bother with our insane limitations. I think that the copyright laws in the U.S. (don't know about the rest of the world) are a extremely agressive.
I calculate largley that I am lucky and have friends who upgrade hardware faster than me. I still pay a fair amount for HDD's, Peripheals. Are we counting digicams here? RamDrives, Media, Video Cards... etc. it all adds up to most hardcore enthusiasts to about 2k every other year. For me it's about that but more spread out throughout the year with constant upgrading.
I LOVE them too. I actually fein for their mag. I love the Rig of the month feature. They give me new ideas on product implementation. They have a large bias towards games, but really, game machines are fast machines. Thats like saying Car & Driver has a Bias towards sports cars. Oh, wait... they DO.
