Expand Service-Learning in Our Nation's Schools: Obama and Biden will set a goal that all middle and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year. seems reasonable to me, i remeber doing a lot more than that in school, I imagine most schools aready do that... think canning drives, fund raisers etc...
Require 100 Hours of Service in College: Obama and Biden will establish a new American Opportunity Tax Credit that is worth $4,000 a year in exchange for 100 hours of public service a year. again seems reasonable to me. You want money, do some work for it. Where else you gonna make $40 bucks an hour in college?
The Tivo Software for the PC is simply a reproduction of the Tivo software in the tivo boxes that works on your Windows PC. It's not going to allow you to skip or record online videos, it will allow you to skip and record TV.
They only want a mathematical model of the brain, a mathematical model of society as a whole, and fundamental laws of biology so they can answer 'why we are here'.
Well at least manufacturers aren't building these features into registers or POS systems sold in the US that I've worked on. Samsung (Sam4s), Sharp, Towa, JCM Gold/Olympia, Royal... none of these brand cash registers have any kind of features like the ones described. It's not mentioned at all the the service manual. Unless there's some uber seceret key combo to get into there that noone knows, I call shens. What I do know of, is a memory all clear, which wipes out all totals, including the Grand Total.
Also, I've never met a POS software that made something like this a feature. Any feature built into the system like this could just as easily be exploited by the employees/management and render the trust of the numbers useless. Since POS systems just store the numbers in a database, and the owner/dealer can access the data at the lowest level, they could always manipulate the numbers. That's not a feature of the POS system though, that's a feature of owning a restaurant.
Even if there were some kind of add on tamperproof "Journal", the owner could simply throw it out, zap it, light it on fire before a audit. Don't laugh, We've had customers throw their registers out before an audit, for fear of the true numbers being discovered.
Must have taken a page from the G W Bush playbook by naming something the opposite of what it is. Patriot Act, No child Left Behind, Clean Air Act, now P2P Bill of Rights.
IIRC the carriers in the US could care less about retrieving a stolen phone. They could use GSM to lockout stolen phones, but don't. I'm sure apple doesn't either.
'The [just-released government] documents indicate that likely would have been at the heart of former CEO Joe Nacchio's so-called "classified information" defense at his insider trading trial, had he been allowed to present it. The secret contracts - worth hundreds of millions of dollars - made Nacchio optimistic about Qwest's future, even as his staff was warning him the company might not make its numbers, Nacchio's defense attorneys have maintained. But Nacchio didn't present that argument at trial. '"
What? That didn't make any sense in the summary, or in TFA. I didn't bring my bad grammar decoder ring to work today, can someone translate?
Roughlydrafted is nothing more than drivel made to look like news by and for apple fanboys. It's truly funny that this apple fanboy is sourcing an April Fools joke.
Isn't this a example of how it's supposed to work? A disgruntled employee alerts the antipiracy hotline there's piracy going on. The BSA goes in find 8% of the software is illegally installed, and the company has to pay.
Millions of windows apps are already available for the iphone.. it's called VNC.

Virgin Galactic would have to change it's name!

Kinda like abstract art. Throw some shit at a wall and call it a masterpiece.
I'm amazed the submitter didn't go for the glitzy headline: "Microsoft breaks RMS"

If the software in the phone is in an unknown state, then don't allow the upgrade to run.
Apple obviously wanted to brick the phones. Just about every other upgrade i've ever run checks the bits it's upgrading to make sure it's good to go.
