It's nice to see companies, such as yours, naming their departments correctly and honestly. Most other companies would call it "Legal department".

If that doesn't work, and we actually reach a state of utter cultural impoverishment where no games (or music or movies, for that matter) are being produced because nobody can figure out how to make a living doing it (and no hobbiests manage to churn out anything but crap)...which I maintain is an economic impossibility

It's also a cultural impossibility that indies and artist that give away their shit for free, are unable to produce something worthwhile. Music and paintings that have survived centuried aren't generally known for their capitalistic links.

I doubt that. I remember hearing Sunde on the radio two weeks ago where he said that they just barely broke even. And I frankly don't see where they would get wads of cash from, ad revenue is not great, and there are maintenence costs.

  16. Color and Evolution on Researchers Find Color In Fossils · · Score: 1

I was just thinking when I read this, at sometime in the evolutionary history of the earth, color probably didn't matter at all. The organisms were probably just "randomly" colored, that is, evolution didn't favor any specific color. Then eventually, species developed optic sensors, and then began to put meaning to the color, slowly weeding out individuals that displayed a color associated with negative features. So the it wouldn't be surpricing if the actual colors of the first organisms are kind of off-putting to the creatures of today. Or, they were just shades of grey....

The stock heatsink for the AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (I've bought two of them for two different computers) are among the best I've seen. They are a snap to install, they're pretty quiet, and my CPU temp averages at 40-45 c under load. As someone else mentioned, other elaborate third party solutions are often just alot of hazzle and don't yield that better results. Now I just decided to *not* write a story about a Zalman I installed recently, because it would take too long and upset me... bah

You forget the most important thing about 2008 as opposed to 1958, and that is communication. What your list fail to acknowledge is the applications of said improvements. A computer in every home, internet, and a cellphone in every pocket has changed our lives more than imporoving technologies such as atomic power or plastics.
