When an article is "posted" the first thing that happens is every link in the article is compared to a URL_table that only has links, and the ID of the article linked.

If there's a match, return the user to the posting page, put "DUPE ALERT" at the top, and give links to all the matching articles. Then the poster can use his most powerful computer (brain) to see if they are truley are, and they probably will be, URL's are pretty unique.

If there is no match, then post the story, and add all the stories links the URL table.

Here's what needs to be in the URL table:
    ID, StoryID, URL

    Pretty simple eh?

Want to make it have less false positives?
    ID, StoryID, URL, Date

Then when you do your match, only look for matches in the last year...

I think in this case I'd say you left a set of tools sitting in the guy's kitchen, in his way.

I have exactly the same problem, I have my laptop setup to auto-connect to the best network because it's very convienent while traveling. Then suddenly the guy in the office downstairs gets an AP, puts it on the same channel as mine (dumbass) and leaves it insecure. So I suddenly get connected to his stinking network and all my servers are unavailable. So I went down there, had a talk with him about security and for free, secured his network. 2 weeks later, it's called linksys again and it's insecure. I go down and ask him why "Oh, we had someone else come in, and we couldn't find the codes (he meant wep keys) so we just reset it. Great hu?"

    Yeah, great....

So now, I have a WAP that I sat as close to his office as possible. It's on the same channel as his, it has an antenna pointing at his office, it's wide ass open, the SSID is linksys (even though it's not a linksys), and it has no connection to the internet. awe......

Imagine a Cell processor on a PCI-X card, all graphics programs could use it (photoshop, 3dsmax, Edit) and even the video card could give it some jobs to do if it would be faster. While we're at it, lets take all the system memory and slap it in upgradeable cards. Why should the machine be limited to 2 Dimm slots. So, what's a 6MB T1? 4 bonded T's?

We also have this nifty little snapgear router, that also accepts a second connection, that I have a 6MB comcast link plugged into. The T1 is the default route for the mail servers, comcast is for the users... It's obviously not bonded, but it fails over to the other should one go down... and with my secondary MX and DNS pointed to the semi-permenant comcast IP, I've got some cheap ass redundancy....
