ShanghaiBill makes an important point: there are some things the free-market does better, and there are some things that the government does better. People often forget that the public enables the private. Government built infrastructure keeps the economy going. Roads, utilities, and the banking system allow commerce to happen generally smoothly.
When it comes to health care, the government run systems of every other developed country provide better results at much lower cost than what we get in the U.S.
One final point. I do think this thread should be referring to communism. Instead, I think they mean socialism. Even then, you can have government run systems that do not use socialism. For example, England's single-payer health-care system is socialistic while Canada's single-payer system is not. Both get better results than the U.S. at much lower cost.
It is called critical thinking, and it is something that should have been taught before and should be taught now. It will be interesting to see if legislators will be willing to give the schools money for this task.
Other postings have emphasized the need for parents to address this issue, and I agree with that. Once, when one of my children was around 10, she said something that was not true. Both my wife and I said that was wrong. She said, "I saw it on the internet." We then had a discussion about how to evaluate information on the internet and other places.
The trouble with smartwatches is the screen size makes them dumb. The screen size is too small for any serious reading or typing. The only way I could effectively use a watch is if you had a holographic projection that made the screen larger and could project a larger keyboard that could detect my finger movements. I have enough trouble typing on a smartphone and use a computer for any major typing.
There is a reason smartphone screens have been trending larger. They are easier to use
"...[A]n operator 100x better that she is..." If somebody else had not been convicted of this, I would have thought it was Donald Trump. He makes a boast that cannot be proven or is not true. If it was Trump, he could have been trying to get a job in case he has to leave his current one early.
This is an attempt by Keeper to shut down critical articles. While Ars Technica and Dan Goodin must respond, Keeper has no case. To prove libel, the plaintiffs must prove that publication or writer purposely wrote false statements or had malicious intent. Goodin quoted a security expert, and was reporting on the expert's opinion. Keeper will lose and lose big.
I do not think this will work because mistakes happen. I once bought a sandwich at Walmart along with other items. The sandwich was supposedly priced at $3.80. After I was done, I thought the tally seems expensive. The price of the sandwich was $38.00. I got it corrected, but the thought of not having people to fix problems scares me.
I use both Firefox and Chrome on an older Mac. I got the Mac in 2009. I use Firefox for the New York Times website and have been using it for years. Performance was never a problem until I upgraded to Firefox Quantum. The performance sucks and it takes around 2 minutes 30 seconds to load the NYT homepage. Other sites, such as Slashdot, load fine. Any ideas?
In other news researchers also said that 65.237 percent of moms wished that their children away at college would call home more often. For children whose names begin with B, the percentage of mothers who want their children to call home is 71.237. For moms whose first name begins with L, the percentage is 73.543. The researches assured us that the data is anonymized.
What happens if I lose the object or need to change the object I use for authentication? If I use my watch, what happens when I lose my watch or need to get a new watch for some reason? Can the picture be changed?
If the authentication takes place locally, could malware be downloaded that defeats the authentication?

I have an idea for a real fast page: "Send money here! ..."
Here is evidence that sometimes government does things better than private industry: Chattanooga Was a Typical Postindustrial City. Then It Began Offering Municipal Broadband.
24 also predicted a woman president after a black president. Unfortunately, that did not happen.

After all, if memory serves, it worked so well for Microsoft.
I think Trump is the biggest vulnerability. (I wish I was being funny. Unfortunately, I am serious.)
How many programmers does it take to change a light bulb?
None, that is a hardware problem.
Maybe if we rebuilt our decrepit infrastructure we wouldn't have these problems.
It is not a bug.
I.T. is a feature
It seems like these websites are going to a lot of trouble to discover that I can't type and can't spell.
Thank you. The refresh worked wonders.

The people who created it knew it would die. That is why they named it "Black" Friday.
Will the rocket have a DVD player for the kids? Otherwise, it is 2-3 months of, "Are we there yet?"
The one my administrative assistant uses once I get an administrative assistant.
It is not a b*g. It is a f#^t*r#.
Please do not insult bedbugs. They are at least honest about what they are doing.
I have some questions about this.

Our infrastructure is old. How can we even tell if it has been compromised.
