Exactly! My girlfriend almost wasn't hired at Oracle for a sales position because she had a couple classes left on her 4 year degree. They wanted to hire her based on interview and previous experience but only would after she enrolled to finish the classes. I find that ridiculous considering their CEO didn't finish college!!! People in charge of hiring need to get with the times.
Exactly, and that is one of my biggest complaints about Apple. On one hand you have people claiming how simple and intuitive they are.
On the other hand how are the following the least bit intuitive? -Right click on older Mac Book Pros requires you to place to fingers on the track pad and then click the giant mouse button that easily could have been split in half. -Scroll wheel on iPods, who knows what you're doing half the time. -Pressing "Enter" in Finder on OS X does a "rename". Huh? What's the single press button to open the damn file? -"Home" and "End" in Mac OS X. I may as well rip these keys off the keyboard because by default they're useless compared to there behavior on a PC. -iPhoto: Try to delete something, I dare you. Hint: don't try the obvious stuff like the "delete" key or pressing "right click" (I'm assuming you already know you're Mac hardware's obscure Konami code-esque right click combination)
For all Apple's UI preachy-ness you'd think they'd have figured out the value of a right click context menu by now.
By reading the title I was ready to buy it because it sounded like such a cool idea and I wanted to own a piece of history. Then I read the part about the DRM. Nuts to that! Why do companies keep repeating the same mistakes everytime? After being burned by some software that used DRM and then they went belly up; I will not by anything with DRM, ever, period!
Why buy a subscription for a satellite radio signal instead of catching a free local stream?
Because "free" (yeah right) radio sucks ass. 50% commercials (there's your payment), 10% idiot DJ's, followed by the same damn 6 songs the RIAA has approved for your listening pleasure.
I still don't understand why Spiderman is so huge? As far as super powers go, spiderman got the shaft! I'm mean please, the guy is completely useless on a prairie or in the dessert. What's he going to do, shoot a web at you and then lay down on the ground? Ohhh, I'm scared!
And finally, in the movie what about Spiderman's complete rip off of the Matrix's bullet dodging scene? How can people stand for this crap?
I haven't seen ATOC (I probably will eventually), but Spiderman was the first movie I've seen in theatre's in over a year (I was FORCED to go), and at least now I remember why I quit going.
While we're propogating stereo types; I'm sooo sorry our "highly skilled manual laborer" doesn't make as much money as us over paid fat ass geeks. Maybe he should have done his own school work instead of copy some geeks. Maybe he should have spent more time using his brain instead of using his muscle to pick on geeks. Why are you even on Slashdot if you think this way? The internet was created by geeks, this web site if "news for nerds"; if you don't like it snail mail me your response to support your precious manual laborers. I'll get back to you in 6 to 8 weeks. ~Fucking trolls~
Dude! That car is ugly. Why not get something with some balls? or if you're not into that image, a moped? Mopds are a lot cheaper, and they're about equal with that honda on the coolness scale. Sorry couldn't help myself, I'm sure the cars very good for the environment. (Personally, I'd rather be sitting behind at least 200 horses)
I did like your other gift suggestions though. Especially the G-MAN Genesis. That suit could make any car cool;)
The Mitsubishi T250 cell phone plus AT&T's Digital PocketNet Service. Unlimited Web Access! Send emails, bid on eBay, check your stocks, manage your calendar. This phone rocks!
I have both roadrunner service and a 486 32MB machine with two NE2000 cards. Works fine! You're not going to get more than 10Mbps from the outside world at this time anyway. My machines inside the wall are all using 100Mbps cards and my hub is autoswitching. Don't worry about the speed of you're firewall machine, just don't use it for anything but server stuff. X is slower then snot, so if you like to use the graphical tools to configure you're box, be prepared to wait. Let me know if you have any questions...
It would be nice if Apple would copy other companies and add a second button and a scroll wheel. Just because someone else came up with the idea doesn't mean you shouldn't use it. I can't stand Apples one button piece of shit mouse no matter what color or shape it is. Also, why doesn't apple move the damn bump on their keyboard to the same spot as everyone else;)
Here's my response to a different post. (And leave my paper route out of this;)
I'm all for supporting artists (real artists that is). That's why I give into paying often times ridiculous ticket prices to see concerts.
Also, I have no problem supporting the artists I like. In fact I wish someone would just set up a web site where you could donate money to your favorite artists. (no min's no maxes, pure donation and the money should go directly to the artists, not some cheesy no talent middle man), then we could see who the real artists are. In fact I registered my copy of Winamp (way back when it was shareware/donationware) even though the software wasn't crippled in anyway, because I loved the software and wanted to see it get better.
I think real artists and a lot of anti-IP people, basically want the same thing. They just don't understand or trust each other enough to make logical compromises. Alot of anti-IP people are good at heart, they just don't like corporate America's practice of extorsion when it comes to things like CD sales. Also the topic is a bigger powder keg then abortion since it deals with money (becasue we've proved, time and time agian, money is more important than human life) so its not very easy to have civil discussion about change.
PS I hate the idea that when I buy one artists CD, some of that money may be going into the production of the next boy bands album... yuck!

It takes no talent in the US to get a drivers license. We should do it more like Finland:

I agree. Setup a PayPal voluntary donations link. I know I've contributed to people when the work they created was valuable to me.
I do not however like the "old model". There's a reason it's called the "old model". ;)

What an embarrassment to MN. I hope who ever is leading this charge is ultimately fired and kicked out of the state.
Guerrilla Marketing indeed. The article itself is a slashvert for the author's company. Nice.
Seriously, there is a ton of room for more keys on my MacBook Pro. Why do I have to hold "FN" for so many of them?
Worst keyboard ever! Where's the outrage for that?
For a product that prides themselves so much on UI, they still can't get a keyboard and mouse (one mouse button? seriously?) right!

He's the CEO, he doesn't have to ask permission it's literally "his company".
I know I work there and was very surprised to see Implex on Slashdot this morning.
So where do I take my VHS copies to trade them in for the DVD upgrade? After all, I've already paid for my license to watch them.
Theories don't always work out in the real world. I think their claim of 200mph is ridiculous to be making when all they have is a piece of clay.

First Post!
First Post!!!
Let me know if you still feel the same way?
If you do, then it may be to late to reverse the brainwashing.

That's Carl...not Charles. You know, "White guys have names like Lenny, while black guys have names like Carl."
