Give it 3-6 months when every manufactor has 15 different varieties of the Core 2 Duo motherboards for purchase. You will be able to pick then up for $50.
You just don't have the right type of AMD's I guess.
I am glad my AMD 1400 Thunderbird and Duron 1000 (both with 768 Meg of 168 Pinn simms) running my Linux servers for the past 4+ years is still worth something:-)
4 cycle does not mean 4 pistons. It's a reference to how many times the piston moves to make a complete "cycle". In the case of a 4 cycle, it fires once every 2 times it goes up. A 2-stroke fires each time the piston is up.
Basically they took a Makita 54cc (3.3 cubic inches) engine off a chainsaw (capable of doing 12,000 rpm) and hooked it up to a chain/belt and used that.
No.. actually this suit, as many others need to be filed.
If a company pushes out a faulty product, they should be legally obligated to correct the problem. We seem to have very high standards for say auto manufactors whenever there exists a problem. Why shouldn't a company who is pushing a electric consumer product be under the same scrutinty.
Bottom line, were are be bombarded with crap. Dell and there "bad" capacitors, Apples scratching nano screens, Sony's PSP and now Microsoft's overheating XBox 3-POS-0 powersupplies... and this has been in the past 18 months.
Interesting enough the later three were suppose to be "big releases". And if these four "small underfunded" companies can not put quality products, who can?
I say sue them all. Teach them that pushing crap is not going to be had and if they continue to do it, they will have to continue to replace it.
Apparently the original poster failed to mention that 99% of the time the machines that do not come with Windows are generally priced equal to or more then the comparable system with Windows. In addition to that, they generally never come with all the "free" offers Dell gives out with there PC's.
Right now Dell will see there 380n Precision workstation (no windows) for $1058. But I can go buy the 380 Precision workstation (with windows) for $1058.. so where is the deal?
Microsoft will do what it normally does: give it away for virtually free until the competition is destroyed or forgotten.
Now I am not saying it will be successful, but don't put it past Microsoft to start bundling MS Works in with Vista with the option to "upgrade" it to the full MS Office via a monthly $9.99 subscription. What else do they have to do with Works?
I will also admit this tactic is getting harder for them to pull off (Money vs Quicken, Media player vs iTunes, etc), but that does not mean they will not try.
Spokesman Bryan Whitman called Newsweek's report "irresponsible" and "demonstrably false," saying the magazine "hid behind anonymous sources which by their own admission do not withstand scrutiny.
If they want totally anonymous sources, then the publications should take complete responsibility for misinformation published. That includes being liable and sueable.
Buggy, exploitable, virtual items sellable on Ebay, rampant pking, and no longer supported by the creating company?
Even so, I do know where you are coming from. How many times should the "best game of the year" be nothing more then the "best game of last year" with a new paint job.
Yes, but if you think about it the owners of the house are the artists.. not the recording companies. And as the owners, they REALLY DONT CARE because they DO NOT MAKE SHIT on a cd sale. In fact, they probably encourage the free distribution of there music as to drum up more interested fans who might be willing to buy a ticket and see them in concert. At that concert, they buy t-shirts, beer, and soda.. yet more money.
Mark this poster as a troll if you wish, but he makes a valid response.

So what is his article going to be next week? When Apple comes out with dual core Power Mac so that he can replace his Dual 2.7 Power Mac?
Don't take it the wrong way I am sure Jay means well, but Jay needs more reliable sources then thinksecret and macrumors. A few years out in the real world would not hurt either.
But I give him credit, he got it past the slashdot editors.
"Exactly! Star Trek is that dog turd in the yard that's got the hardened shell from sitting in the sun too long."
Well then, if it's hard, it can be polished.

They did? Please direct me to a Dell System with AMD processors in it? Any Dell division for any country. What? Can't find one?
Well, might that be because they "have not" started shipping them yet?
Read your own article please
"After all, it's the customers and not investors that will be buying Dell's new four-chip Opteron server at year's end."
There is plenty of time for Dell to scrap the entire idea.

And let's not forget that you can back up that laptop to your LaCie 100gig HD designed by Porche.
STFU :-)

AnyPassword - http://www.romanlab.com/apw/ is just another Windows Program. Pretty nice. Load it up on a thumb drive and away you go.
Sure do. Saddens me that they don't make those Lawn Dart anymore.
And if there was ever a place for this .. its right here.
4) Profit
Tell ya what, I miss the days of Global cooling.
With all the Lance Armstrong wrist bands running around not only would anti-static wrist straps be functional, but also stylish.

Why? They are probably just as accurate as other sources.
what a real PC game is I would look at Diablo II

The executive summary of this goes something like this ..
"X-Windows Sucks"
Those mean old Slashdot readers, pointing out the obvious all teh time!

Linux is a kernel, not an operating system.
Google's definition of Linux
I think you have more of a chance to start a discussion on that statement then you do in regards to which kernel is "better".
