    i see a lot of site are running very old versions of apache (1.2.x era). what keeps these people from running "# apt-get update;apt-get -y install" at least every year or so?

    some of these exploits are serious killers ... yet keeping up to date with the patches is almost always ahead of the game.

    so silly to have spent the time to run unix and then drop the ball by not maintaining it.

    doesnt he newer PIX os handle this enough with its snazzy access objects?

    No offense, but how do you normally configure the PIX ... via telnet or with a tool? The tools out there are quite robust for multiple pixs, networks, policies, and so on.

    actually this is not true, the media report shows otherwise but didnt bring to to full bear on bush because of the 9-11 stuff.

    the bbc/pri recently (last week) had some good reporting on why that is recently.

    but in essence it seemed to be unpresidented corruption by many people at the local level. not all of which were involved with ether other knowingly.

    thats sounds very interesting and logical, unfortunately very contrasted with that email that was sent.

    obviously they just alienated that 'customer interest' your speaking about when they basically say they wont be selling the untaxed boxes.

    all vital technical system are duplicated onboard. They are duplicated in a very odd way in that they have the same spec of processors, and electronics and wiring components from two sources. Not just buy two from the same manufacturer and rid them together. No they buy two from different manufacturers (that have proven they have no upstream shared source) and they rig them together.

    This is supposed to make the likelyhood of a phantom flaw unlikely to bring down the plane.

    what sort of identification do you need to present to fly your own plane from point a to point b in the usa?

    i know you have to file some plans and what not with the airports and agencies involved. But do you need to inform them of the identities of the passengers and such?

    attack this like spam or a virus:

    scan files for this 'loop' (i have never encountered it) or for a known checksum of a bad file (which would be gpg signed from some niffty person) which is auto downloaded.

    seems like a small perl script to me.
