    I may sound like an idiot for saying this, but does anyone ever get the impression that p2p is going to be the new conduit for the oppressed ( oppressed being everyone subject to coorprate america). The first conduit was the free press on obstructed information flow allowing abolitionist and the like to band together and spread there cause, then radio TV etc . Now there is p2p another on obstructed means of passing information uncontrolled by the cooprate majority.

    I'm guessing this is Yahoo's answer to gmail. If so where is my 2Gig mail box.

    To be honest I think simplicity is paramount there is a reason I don't use outlook. I've found the gmail interface to be almost perfect for my personal back and forth e-mail.

    I used to be one of those few IT guys who had a completely unrelated degree (architecture). However I somehow managed to procure enough experience that I really didn't need all the certificates (MSCE A+ etc.) I also know of many others in the same boat. However if your lacking experience then certification is a good way to get people to take a chance on you.

    My boss knows nothing about computers and doesn't care to. Once they allow him to meet his bottom line he will never change a thing. I've learned that whenever I speak to him instead of dicussing details and technical mumbo jumbo I break it down into profit and loss. I explain to him that by moving to a linux based OS server we can reduce our number of servers and downtime, and that the productivity incurred will = profit. Our P200 firewall/vpn/ftp/www servers have been running straight for over a year. While our windows boxen have brought the company to a hault on more than one occasion.

    I have Vonage, given the cost especially with international call for the average home user it work great. Plus I as most peopel do have a cell phone so for me it works. Baby Bells despight the competition are still price gouging. I made a 15 minute call to jamaica which cost me over $100 dollars. given my family lives there I prefer being able to contact them in imergencies ( hurricane) and not have to worry about my phone bill.

    why would deregulating the communication industry help broadband. The only reason I have broadband at the price that I do is because regulations force Verizon and SBC to share there lines at a fair cost. Companies like XO would dissappear. I don't like the Idea that I have to go with either Charter or Verizon for broadband I would like more options. The only way this will happen is if other companies can tap into the cable and data lines at my driveway.

    This is just speculation. But there are so many legalities regarding federal contracts that i'm sure Corel has to jump through some hoops. An example would be their subcontractors must be US based or maybe the boxes have to be fabricated by disadvantaged disabled US veterans or something to that nature.

    most good MBA programs will not accept a candidate unless they have 5 plus years of expereince. There is a reason for this. Ideally I say get your degree in CS then find a job. Decide a.) if you liek the field and want to continue in it. and b.) do you wish to move up in managment. Keep in mind most managers don't actually program just manage programers. The biggest complaint i've heard from managers is that after moving up in the managment wrongs they rarely get to do what they love. so choose wisely.

    Even though i'm not in the field I've always got the impression programmers who have a math background are worth their weight in gold.
