I recall the glory days of quake world. There was no feeling like camping in the dark and seeing a quad rocket launcher coming in your direction. You just knew it was over the only thing you could do was pay homage to whichever POS it was who sighted you hung on some rune in a dark corner.

I concur. We use quite a few Dell Latitude laptops for field work. The last go around we tried the 131L for price purposes and have since switched everything to these systems. They run great.
Now, I keep asking this question about EULAS: tell me, now. Mike buys a naked, no OS computer and a boxed set of Windows Vista Home, and asks me to install it for him. If I'm the one who agrees to the EULA, how is he legally held to that EULA? He didn't agree to anything, I did. And unless he's signed "power of attorney" to me, well? well he owns the computer, and has given you permission to act on his behalf installing the software. assuming you made him aware and he did not object the responsibility is his. If you did not make him aware thus he did not agree to it, he woudl then have recourse if he were sued say by microsoft to then sue you.
What if his ten year old child (or neighbor kid) installs it? if the child is his he will incur any responsibility for actions made by the child
If I have six PCs in my house networked together then I do own my network connection. I also own MY COPY of Windows. Nowhere on the box does it say I don't. See excerpt from microsoft EULA below.
3. RESERVATION OF RIGHTS AND OWNERSHIP. Microsoft reserves all rights not expressly granted to you in this EULA. The Software is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws and treaties. Microsoft or its suppliers own the title, copyright, and other intellectual property rights in the Software. The Software is licensed, not sold. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/eula.mspx
If I'm not mistaken according to Micro Soft's EULA you don't actually own the software they do. They are just giving you permission to use it. Though you do own the hardware the worm in question would only affect or change the Soft Ware. In addition you neither own your network connection or most likely the building you live in ( dorm, apartment, mortgaged home etc) so from a purly legal stand point you have no leg to stand on. Though I do completely understand and support the meaning behind yrou rant:)
First they ship all there pictures to flicker, then they get rid of there version of myspace 360. Now yahoo music. I understand restructuring but they are doing horrible things to the brand. With the news of msn trying to by them out. If I was an investor I would be bailing out. Without content what do users flock to ?
This isn't new behavior by Ford. Ford has been on the war path with blueoval.com for years. keeping in mind this was one of the premier fan sites. I belonged to a club called newedgecougar.org when they whole new edge design was the in thing (1999). We were smart enough to contact Ford before hand. The only reason I think they let us do it was to use us as a part of their marketing.
good sound point. But also keep in mind the swept back angle of the wing also reduces drag. Thus the designers will sweep the wings back as much as possible. In addition given the plane was pretty light (reconnaissance only, no payload) lift wasn't really a major concern. Lastly the further back the wings were swept the lower the radar signature.
The blackbird was also capable of generating lift just from the body shape, to be honest I think much of the design went into stabilization.
I think these are everywhere and in my opinion quite effective, assuming; a.) it is only enabled during rush hour, b.) it is placed with the correct timing based on congestion. Traffic ripples (wave) can be a pain in the but. Those would be the effect of driving down the freeway (highway for you all) and seeing everyone hit there brakes for no apparent reason. I think these lights are to reduce this effect. If you were to have poorly timed merges then it was cause a continuous ripple effect which is a. dangerous and b. slows down traffic.
unfortunately one of the best ways to learn how well your disaster recovery system works is to have a disaster. The problem with scheduled drills is the scenarios themselves are planned out and typically not run system wide ie test the part of the system then that part of the system etc. on RTFA it seems much of the breakdown occurred because too many people assumed. There was also no centralized decision making identities who had access to all the information. All scenarios when view from there individual perspective seemed to have made the right decision. However sometimes when implementing a global recovery plan one system may have to be sacrificed by another.
running suse 10 with a custom firewall script, we also use firefox with outlook. funny thing is the primary culprit is the owner of the company who downloads music all day long and insists on using some free vnc type program to tap into his laptop (which still sits at his desk) to get work done when on trips;-\
this is the truth. At my company we are considering going back to cloned drives that get re-cloned once a month. even with spybot, windows defender, company firewall, and f-secure people still get infected.
The iPhone is a rectangular 115 x 61 x 11.6 mm touch sensitive screen, WiFi, 8 GB of memory a reasonable amount of processing power on a fairly common OS. The truth is you can use it for whatever is applicable. It also supports USB so you can plug almost anything into it. Steve Jobs isn't stupid he has a platform that can be adaptable for many things.
Video, Audio, Data Sharing, Communication, Interactivity the list goes on.
Shoot My palm I use as a web browser, video game console, organizer, music player flashlight when i need it, data drive you name it.
and with the amount of obesity in America, once again the US would become a true world power. all that fat, strapped in tight jeans, and spandex generating all this glorious power. !!!!
I've used hotmail and yahoo since college at least 8 years. In the last year or so I've switched to gmail. Funny for the very reason mentioned (spam) I never use yahoo, nor hotmail for personal mail because there spam filter is iffy at best, not to mention the fact that they produce there own spam in an attempted to advertise their products. So they can choose to propagate spam but where is it going to get them.
I agree, I used to work for a software developer who had a propriatory niche time program designed to work with some high end printing hardware. For years customers would complain and wine. Never satisfied with the changes. Some woudl lvoe it the other half would hate it, there was no way to appease the masses. Until finally the word came down from corprate..."just make it look like corel" They did this and the customers were extatic. It's not so much about ease of use as it is about familiarity. all the professional letterheads, and graphic designers know photoshop, painter, quark. so if gimp wishes to appeal to said market they must become like adobe.
not all government. I seem to recall the Clinton erra doign quite a bit to open up the internet, thus bringing us broadband at a pretty decent price. Now if your referring to teh bush regime I understand completely. Though it woudl seem the ragime is so bad back pedaling public service officers are doing anything anti-bush to stop there heads from also going onthe chopping block of public oppinion.
I'm always skeptical of these third world countries scientific claims of some miracle cure usinging some natrual substance. i recently went to a seminar given by a recruiter for one of the larger universities in the Caribbean. I was flabergasted to hear them making claims of there findings as far as avocado curing aids and other such BS. The fact is though ambitious i'm sure they lack the level of technical abilities and testing proceedure to make a truly scientific claim. Flame me if you want but this is something that I see happen over and over again. In my eyes this is no different than than me testing HIV cultures in show polish containers using coconut oil in unsanitary surroundings.
I disagree, I think it's all about building a case. If you have a suspect but no real evidence. It would be viable to use a system like this a track them and build a case thus arresting them before they commit a crime. I don't think the scenario will be someone watching as a guy drops a bomb then calling the cops in a nick of time.
I understand your point but you cant' help but think this thing could be one mutation away from attacking say good bacteria cultures. Thats still my biggest fear with respect to genetic modification is that we still don't understand the ecology of micro organisms in its entirety.
ok thats fine but keep it in YOUR bedroom, not on the internet, and no offense if you have to pretend to rape your wife to keep her hot I dunno. You may want to think on that one for a little bit. btw your analogy on mental health really shows only one thing which is your ignorance on the matter.
Few members of my family including my x have worked for social services and thus have helped me realize a few impossible facts that you should be aware of before you start getting so fervently ideological. You have a child who was raped continuously growing up, cps come in throws the parent in jail and puts the child in foster care. The only problem is now this child has been programed to act on warped sexual impulses in very violent way. he rapes and kills the dog and tries to mulest mom. The child is no longer able to be in foster care and now grows up in a a juvi home with other like him. This child now turns eighteen where according to law they must now let him go into society and there is nothing that can do about it. Simply because all his crimes were committed as a juvenile he has served his time and he record was expunged at 18 years old. So they let him go hoping for the best knowing full well with a few years he will act on said impulse and end up in prison in the psych ward. So how do you propose to fix this problem, you can't hold them againts there will. you cant' force them to seek treatment, they are jsut sitting there like a time bomb just waiting on teh right stimulus to explode.
