Oh, the days of using separate video cards for 2D and 3D support. It was "cool" to have a setup like that, but somehow I was never interested and held out for the TNT2.
That is certainly the elephant in the room. From the article: "A massive increase in power output - from a maximum of 4.5W to 100W - isn't going to be straightforward, however."
I guess expecting an explanation addressing how someone plans on getting that much power over a USB cable was a little optimistic.
Agreed, if the ground pin is broken off, or if the supply is not isolated and the plug is inserted into the wall with reverse polarization, there will be a potential between "ground" of your PC and actual earth ground.
Something very similar has happened in my town - a paved bicycle rail trail was proposed, which is currently a decommissioned "abandoned" railroad. The rail trail real estate itself is clearly unused. Anyone owning property adjacent to the existing "railroad" has a legal leg to stand on for disputing said bicycle rail trail in court. There are a handful of wealthy lawyers who are property owners adjacent to the proposed bicycle trail in each town the rail trail cuts through. These people thoroughly detest the idea of having smelly, loud, potty-mouthed cyclists constantly near their property (I can't say that I don't blame them) and continue to use their expertise of the legal system to dispute the proposed rail trail in court. This has been going on since the mid 90's, and the rail trail still does not exist. The total length of the proposed bicycle rail trail is under 10 miles. If it is this difficult to get a short bicycle path created out of an existing unused railroad, I seriously doubt fast railroads like the ones currently in Europe and Japan will ever appear in the US.
Besides, look at the Acela. It's the fastest train in the US, but it can only travel at it's top speed for a very short distance near Attleborough, MA where there are no street crossings. When it's not near Attleborough, it lumbers along like some amusement park railroad. What are the options for solving this? Have everyone and their brother-in-law get big bucks construction contracts to modify the crossings into bridges?
Will there really be mobile devices that can upload data at 1 gigabit? That would consume an absurd amount of battery power. I seriously doubt that that "marketing" bandwidth spec will be even remotely symmetric.
High Speed Rail as it exists in Europe or Japan will never work in the US. In the areas of the country where it is commercially viable, there would be too many railroad crossings. Imagine the cost of involving everyone's construction brother-in-law for making a bridge at every crossing. We already have "high speed rail" in this country it is called the Acela - fast for about 10 minutes, then slows down for the rest of the journey because of crossings. Besides, it's about 3 times cheaper to fly from Boston to New York City than it is to take the train. Much more of a pain, but cheaper.
In the areas of the country where it would be possible to actually build a high-speed railroad, with a minimal of crossings, there wouldn't be a market to support it. How many people really want to take a high speed train from Fargo, North Dakota to Omaha, Nebraska? Enough to support the cost of building a decent railway? I don't think so.
So, the Droid now comes with a Halt and Catch Fire instruction? What if it can be executed remotely as an attack? That's going to come back to haunt someone.
Is there actually a way to get a direct dBm output on an iPhone?
My Blackberry does it under Options -> Status
I'm currently at -70dBm and it claims 5 bars.
Channels 1 through 11 are here in the States, but Europe gets 1-11 plus 12 and 13, Japan gets 1-13 plus 14. If you don't change the drivers at all you will still be able to use 1 through 11.
Anyone smart enough to use these plug-ins probably does not, and is more than likely perfectly happy not having a Facebook account in the first place.
Like me.
I'm a casual Starcraft gamer, but I've seen PvPGN used for tournament play. My question is... does anyone think it will support Starcraft II? If so, there is your LAN support right there.
They're going to screw it up. Deus Ex 2 was garbage, but Deus Ex 1 was so amazing I have no idea how anything can ever even come close to it, especially now that most PC games are dumbed down for the console retards.
Deus Ex 1 was a PC game for PC gamers. FTW
I didn't like the game either, even after playing through 52% of the game. I couldn't even get the game to run with any stability - I would be playing a mission and it would instantly crash to desktop with no error window, no explanation of any kind of what went wrong. At the time I had at least 3 other "recently" released mainstream games on my machine (Fallout 3, Crysis, HL2:EP2) and none of them crash instantly to the desktop.
I emailed Steam support asking them for a refund. They said it was against their policy to issue a refund, but they gave me my $49.95 back anyways as a "one time customer service gesture"
At least there was that silver lining - as far as I'm concerned the people at Steam support are great.
...has a bunch of Rigol DS1000 series scopes. They are somewhat basic, only 50MHz with 2 inputs. The nice thing about them is they have a USB interface which we use for screen captures to jazz-up our lab reports. A quick search turns up educational pricing in the $700 range.
Most people have done the math and realized they could just get an engineering degree (even in aerospace!) and make twice that as a new grad.
I did that. I've got a VFR single-engine license and a BSEE. Sadly, I haven't flown in years.

Move to a dry dorm. Alcohol indirectly generates noise and vandalism.
Are there any LTE-enabled phones which support Cyanogenmod?

A Megasquirt might be able to do that. You could also replace the throttle system with an actual cable, which would also work.
http://nonpareil.brouhaha.com/ Calculator sim. I think one of the older versions can emulate the HP 15C.
But windows+tab lets you alt+tab in 3D!!

Something tells me shooting an old person into the sun would be at least several orders of magnitude times more expensive than their health care.
It's not a mouse, but the :CueCat failed more spectacularly than all of those mice combined.

Crazy people are everywhere. Stop giving them attention.
This attitude is unhelpful.

I've used alcohol to clean off lots of boards using this method, just make sure it's as close to 100% as you can get. The 70% stuff just won't cut it.
