Just paint the inside of the cabin, especially the wall between the cockpit and the passenger area, with that signal blocking, nano-tube paint. That will solve the problem.
By going to Workopolis and limiting my search by city. Also, what your site offers looks alot like the posting on Workopolis. Are you just scraping their site?
Umm...the US may be a "freakin' huge land mass" compared to Japan, but it is still dwarfed in size by Canada. Yes you are right, most of the population of Canada is concentrated in certain areas, typically towards the Canada - US border. But, our broadband providers also started setting up service in high density areas first, for the same reasons you cite the US telcos doing it.
I think there are a couple of factors that explain the difference:
1) As the article says 30% don't want it and 14% say dial-up is just fine. So, thats 44% that don't want broadband because they are not interested in it or see no benefit to it. Though I can't understand why, I would die without my broadband connection.
2) When broadband was initially offered in Canada there were very few ISPs offering it. Bell Canada, our major telco up here, and Rogers Cable our major cable tv provider. That made it alot easier to decide who to go with for broadband. As market penetration progressed many smaller companies popped up offer some form of a DSL package. Cable internet is pretty much solely in the hands of a few cable providers such as Roger's and Shaw Cable and there is less competition for cable internet. Basically if you want cable broadband and you are in an area serviced by Rogers, you get your broadband from Rogers, unless you want DSL then you have more choices.
Executives at other telecom companies, such as AT&T Inc. chief executive Edward E. Whitacre Jr., have suggested that Google, Yahoo Inc. and other such Internet services should have to pay fees for preferred access to consumers over such lines.
Doesn't he have this a little backwards? It's the consumers that are accessing the Internet services. I realize the lines blur a little but without the Internet users (ie. us) there is no reason for Google or Yahoo or Slashdot to exist.
HR definitely cannot get tech job ads correct. A few years ago a good friend of mine became interested in Java, learned it, and started job hunting. He kept finding ads asking for 5 or more years Java experience. This was at the time that the only people with that much experience would have been the engineers at Sun.
Well if you know what you were doing in C++ I see no reason to write the entire thing in Python then rewrite it C++. If you are rusty in C++, why not take all that time you are spending working in Python first and spend it developing skills in C++? That way you don't need the "model it first in Python" step. Or if it works in Python and you are happy with it why not just leave it in Python?
Good God didn't you just make the program take twice as long to create? You write it in Python, debug, test, debug, test and get it working. Then replace the Python with C++ code which you then have to test and debug (at least once). If you can model it in Python in the first place, why not just start with C++?
"but I believe that it has been held up in the courts many times that you have no expectations of privacy in a public place."
What does that have to do with stalking?
Well it has alot to do with what the MPAA is claiming. The MPAA is claiming that the film maker "stalked" some of its employees. In fact they claim that the employees called the police to report it. But if he was filming these employees in public places (MPAA claims its employees were filmed driving their kids to school, etc.) those employees have no expectations of privacy in a public place. Hence they can be filmed, photographed, stared at, etc. Its not stalking. If its not stalking, the MPAA's entire argument for making copies of the film without the film maker's permission just flew right out the window. So the MPAA would be guilty of what they claim is currently hurting the movie industry....illegal movie copying.
He wasn't stalking them, he was filming them. He is a legitimate film maker. IANAL but I believe that it has been held up in the courts many times that you have no expectations of privacy in a public place.
No the "war effort" is not cool. It's more like a "wares effort." I play WoW to quest and have fun, not to become slave labor so a few lvl 60s can enjoy a new dungeon that will become an old dungeon by the time I am high enough level to enjoy it.
And yes I know you don't HAVE to help with the gathering. I don't help. In fact I find the entire idea stupid and I am wondering who dropped the ball at the meeting Blizzard had when trying to decide what would be a cool way to role out this new content. If this is the best they can come up with on making their game "interesting" then I cry for what could have been.
Not only is it not fun, they have screwed up the game's economy as well as ruined game play for some of us. It used to be that most people respected the fact that you were killing a mob close to an ore deposit so you could mine it. Now, they just run up and steal the ore out from under you so they can hand in their 20 bars of copper and get a stinkin' badge.
Guild Wars, good game if you can find a group. Sucks to solo. Well at least I could never effectively solo. The AI mercenaries you can hire play about as well as a 4 year old would so they were never very effective. I was actually denied access to quests by NPCs because I was NOT in a group. What the heck is that?
Nice to see that they are seriously considering bringing back this show. I love Simpsons and I am collecting all the seasons on DVD, but in all honesty the Simpsons should have been cancelled instead of Futurama. It has had a good run and is getting a little worn around the edges. Futurama was fresh and funny as heck.
I find most management types have no clue about computers, networks, software or anything IT related. All they know is money, so they only ever respond if there is a catastrophe that affects the flow of money.
I am not saying that you should cause something to happpen, but maybe you will luck out and something will happen that will cause the network to crash and prevent work from getting done. Then they will listen to your requests for staffing.
Or, take a vacation out of the country with no cell phone or pager on you. Make it for as long as you can but definitely no shorter thatn 3 weeks. They'll be ready to listen to you when you get back.
Ever played D&D? Its based off the D&D core ruleset. Go get yourself a book. 3.5 is the current ruleset. It'll blow your mind away. The rules are way more complex than WoW.
This is what is going to hurt DDO, the rules. Most MMORPG players have been spoiled by the simplicity of games like WoW. Throw in the D&D rules and it is going to turn a lot of people off.
Good point. I think this is the way developers are going to break into the Linux market. Developers need to release the Windows and Linux versions of their games on the same CDs. That way the game sells and the OS doesn't matter. Stores won't be left with extra stock of Linux CDs kicking around because there are only 4 avid linux users in the area. Game companies won't be left holding the bag wondering how many copies of the linux version to press....it will all be on the same CDs.
Gaming is the only thing holding me to Windows. If I could get the games I now play on Linux (yes I would gladly pay for them), Windows would be gone.
Yup! I use Orb and love it. Why would I want to pay SONY for something I can do for free? Especially when their software will be saddled with DRM and probably a root kit too.
Sounds like the problems in the 80's for Dungeons and Dragons. Parents trying to blame their kids' suicides on a game. Which also sounds like all the uproar over heavy metal music..."Playing the record backwards you can hear Satan. The music is making these kids be violent and do drugs and commit suicide."
The times have changed but people have just found new things to blame for their problems. No one takes personal responsibility any more.
As a student, I would prefer no WiFi in class and a solution for killing cell phone signals. I am an older student, studying part-time, while working a full time job. I have been in post-secondary education before. Why is it all of a sudden, that students can't study or pay attention in class unless they have WiFi access for their toys?
You need 3 things when attending a lecture. Pencil, paper, and your brain. Extras are just that....extras and are unecessary. Students have been attending lectures and studying this way for many, many years. It works for those that can pay attention and absorb material (or at the very least make legible notes that they can use later for further research and study) and it doesn't work for those that are not interested in the material or are bored by the material. Cell phones and laptops will make no difference in getting those type of people interested in the material.
If you are bored with what is being taught, or not interested enough to pay attention then leave the class. Some of us are paying good money to be there and are tired of the distractions. And yes someone wacking away on a keyboard is a distraction.
Ok, that hurt. Didn't buy the CD, now I never will...no matter what SONY or BMG says.
Sorry SONY, you may claim ignorance of not knowing what SONY/BMG was doing but too bad for you. I will NEVER buy another product from SONY or a SONY subsidiary ever again.
Just paint the inside of the cabin, especially the wall between the cockpit and the passenger area, with that signal blocking, nano-tube paint. That will solve the problem.

Wow, Python must be such a powerful language, it takes an afternoon to learn it.
I'd rather take 7 years to learn C++, than spend an afternoon to a language that has been dumbed down.
Well if you know what you were doing in C++ I see no reason to write the entire thing in Python then rewrite it C++. If you are rusty in C++, why not take all that time you are spending working in Python first and spend it developing skills in C++? That way you don't need the "model it first in Python" step. How many copper bars am I going to have to collect to open this elitist dungeon?

Don't hire IBM employees to something as simple as restore from a backup.
$20k to restore a deleted account?

Maybe I'm just getting old.
Yup! I use Orb and love it. Why would I want to pay SONY for something I can do for free? Especially when their software will be saddled with DRM and probably a root kit too.
You wanted to know why sales have been down? THIS is why!!! Well, that and the bubble gum pop crap you are pushing out lately and calling music.
Sounds like the problems in the 80's for Dungeons and Dragons. Parents trying to blame their kids' suicides on a game.
