I always just assume the totally over the top asshats are Microsoft employees doing that to keep the Linux users are elitist stereotype alive. Scare the n00bs back into the comfortable fold.
To me it feels like I'm paying $60 for the shareware version, then need to pay another $1 to $20 in little chunks to unlock all the features of the full version. I'll just wait a year or two then buy the "Game of the year" , fully tested, patched, unlocked version when its under $40.
I don't see anything in what he said that has anything to do with open source. Interpersonal skills and teamwork are just as important to the proprietary world. Someone's reading too much into what he said.
I think it already has that image. As long as people like RMS demand that GNU, Linux, etc. all be called "Free" software and most of the rest of the planet understand "Free" to mean "no cost" then I don't look for that to change.
ps. I understand the meaning of Free as in freedom.
That still burns me about the first xbox. It's life was way too short. I'd consider getting a 360 since it looks like a great machine, but after the way MS killed the original xbox after 4 years no way. Some 3rd party developers made games to stretch it out to 5 years, but still...
I'm just doing a quick look through the links and it looks like this is a ~10 year cycle. Does it change the weather? Other than a "hmmm thats interesting" what am I missing?
"Today, as television has once again infiltrated the mainstream, a growing number adults are again enjoying television and understand there are tv shows that are appropriate for different age groups. But that hasn't stopped crusaders from trying to censor them in the name of 'saving' the children. Williams, 34, said those under 38 have a different view of tv shows than their elders. Most have grown up with tv and, like radio for the previous generation, television is embedded in their culture. "
or maybe...

What happens if after you buy a game on live with regards to "your copy"? If your hard drive fails can you download it again on a new machine or do you have to repurchase it?
What about if you sign into live on another persons xbox? Can you download it again there? Sort of like Steam allows?
So what did you do about power? Batteries can't hold a charge all day. Were there a bunch of electric outlets? Would a student be sol if they didn't carry spares?
Honestly, how much is Microsoft paying for all this advertising on/.? 14 articles in 7 days now. Until now I couldn't have told you 14 different points of interest in the 360.
Do the individual cells all have their own electrical outlet? That bothers me if true.

There are still quite a few dry counties here in the states, so yea the parent post is still mostly true in that regard.
No you don't. You get disks for both, but you can still only use one or the other. Can't use both at the same time.
"Naturally, the makers think that the chip will be used for sending pleasant odors to friends and family"
I've got bad news for them...
Yea, but it was built with longevity in mind. I expect it'll be the most disappointing product for several more years to come.

Well, if you think about it... how did all those machines become part of the botnet to begin with?

So how often will I be able to change my mind before I have to reactivate?
The article doesn't specifically say anything about the astronauts, but it does say this
And most of the honorees? They're not NASA employees. They're from Boeing and other billion-dollar contractors that aren't picking up the tab.
