I recently went to look at the current crop of HDTV displays.
I quickly realized that I want LCD instead of plasma because of the lifespan and power consumption efficiency.
That being said, the other hold up is 1080p. I know nothing is using it but I want it and to my knowledge only SHARPs 50" LCD has it. It seems to me it makes sense that 1080p will be a lot sharper than 720p since it will be running in a native resolution to my understanding.
Does anyone know of any sites or resources that thoroughly compare LCD vs Plasma? I've seen some reviews on Google but I'd like to see reviews from a more practical standpoint on real products vs theoretical analysis.
Our community ISP (win.org) decided to do broadband by satellite despite a group of us telling them they were out of their minds. The project never paid for itself. Win.org is a non-profit but technically not run by the city but they do get donations from the fire district and what not so it is funded by tax money.
So my tax dollars are indirectly wasted on this sort of useless crap.
I didn't say don't validate on the input side, but you can never trust code that's running on the clients side. Ultimately re-validate everything on the backend because you never know when a malicious user is screwing with you.
In my opinion, a good web developer will user server-side validation for every single form that gets posted.
With HTML forms or XForms or any other forms, a good developer is still going to validate all the data on the backend.
The only bad thing about the potential scripting in Web Forms 2.0 is that the script engine developers have previously made their script engines a security nightmare. (Microsoft mostly but Firefox hasn't been security hole free)
I haven't hit a limit at this point. I'm not sure what the official limit is but I have to assume unlimited for the time being so 1 or 10 accounts still gives you unlimited chars per server.
The issue here isn't creating a new account anyway, it's simply transfer of ownership of the single account.
I was planning on installing WOW on my laptop so I could play away from home but now it sounds like I won't be able to activate that copy.
I can completely understand only allowing a key to be logged in once but only allowing a key to be activated once seems wrong.
Now maybe I'm misunderstanding because obviously there has to be some way to reactivate to handle drive crashes/new computers/etc. Maybe it only allows you to reactivate with the original registration info?
I logged into my account and I can change every piece of information except my name.
I can see blizzard's justification. If they allow the game to be transferred to a new owner and the old owner calls up and says hey my Key has been stolen and I can't play the game what is blizzard to do? They have no proof that the new seller purchased the copy from the old server so it could become a nightmare for them.
That being said, it's a bummer that they didn't create a way to deactivate a key by the current owner so that the new owner could reactivate it. In that instance, being that the current owner needed a user/pass to deactivate it I believe it's a safe transaction and blizzard can start collecting another $14/month.
Each key allows you to create 1 and only 1 account.
Each account allows you to create as many characters as you want on any server. (There may be a limit but I don't know it.)
So to answer your question, there is nothing to stop you from doing exactly what you've described. In fact, I have two characters on the same server and one on another. I can easily mail money/items back and forth between chars on the same server.
The treaty is only as good as the countries behind it. It's more of a warm fuzzy feeling treaty because the moment it's easier for a country to stop abiding they will do just that. It's not like we're going to go to war against a country for not abiding by the rules. The U.N. certainly won't enforce them and if they did, bulk of the enforcement would be on the U.S.
I'm not trying to troll here but this is my perspective of the whole thing. I'm all for being more environmentally friendly, my feeling is that we will achieve this over time but hopefully before it's too late.
The best possible outcome I could see of a US backed treaty would be that we force new technology to the market sooner out of demand vs luxury.
I use the cosmos XML UI enhancements without the thottbot plugin but I do use the thottbot.org website for lookups.
Why does it matter who owns the thottbot site? It's my understanding that you can look at the plugin and see that it's not sending any extra information back to thottbot.org such as login or password.
Ultimately the worst case scenario I see is that the owner could start charging for access to the sites content that the players have built. Big deal, someone will start a new site.
I personally like the fact that blizzard has really cracked down on people selling gold and items. Selling accounts to me is not as big of a deal. I'm betting blizzard doesn't like this though. If I was completely done with the game, and would never play again, I would have no problems selling my level 60 shaman account.
I've had bad experiences with both companies. I'm glad to see them come together so they can die a slow and painful death.
Is there a good mythtv live cd?

I did a quick search on google and found one knoppix based live cd but it seemed to be only the front end and still required the backend to be installed some where.
Is there a standalone CD that I can try out with Mythtv ready to go for my GeForce FX 5700 personal cinema?
It sat stagnant for so long I thought for sure it was a goner. Good to see it's back in action. Is the project seeking developers? There are a lot of user interface issues that could use some work in my opinion. Maybe we can contribute?
No trying to troll but is safari ever better?

I'm not a mac user but I do know that on my linux boxes I always choose firefox over konquerer.
Is there anything that safari does better than firefox?
Are users simply using safari because it ships on their mac?
It seems like most newer keyboards don't have the problem of recognizing too many keys at once. I remember playing mortal kombat on my old 386 with two people on the keyboard and the trick wasn't skill, but to press enough buttons to keep your opponent's key presses from being recognized.
I ordered a machine last week and I'm sure this was someone's goofup but a 17" LCD was listed with it's part number at $300.00 then directly beneath it, the same part number was listed at $150.00.
I'm having difficulty finding the changelog. My office has been running subird for about 6 months now. It works well for what we're doing. (Small office) but it would be nice to see it grow into something a little more directly in competition with outlook. That allowed multiple users to post to the same calendar but keep their records identified by their user.
I really can't wait for a sync to palm button. It will make my palm pilot so much more useful.
Well if you're going to bash them at least explain why they shouldn't be using pconnect!
The sharp lcd had no problem with black. I'd say it's colors were every bit as vibrant as the plasma displays.
You're right though all the others had mostly washed out color when compared to plasma.
The commercially available products from http://www.xybernaut.com are expensive but they do exist.

hehe Just kidding. I'm too busy playing WoW to bother with retro arcade games.
I don't get it.

I don't get it. I guess I need to read the article.
A webserver needs port 80 and maybe 443 open. Any webserver can be secured.
Where's the news?
I can't entirely remember the account creation phase.
Is it, install game, create account, account creation asks for Key?

Worst case scenario though someone could verify that the guy isn't stealing account info with a sniffer unless it's encrypted right?
I mean it seems like it wouldn't be that difficult to hold them semi-accountable on that sort of thing.
