is that those who adapt quickest to a changing environment survive (not the biggest, quickest or strongest). maybe thats what happened the Boskops couldn't adapt.
Field has a specific headache he’s hoping DirectAccess will ease: file synchronization. “Someone might take their laptop home for weeks or months at a time, and it won’t synchronize their files on the network until [the laptop] is brought back in.” He anticipates that DirectAccess will make his life easier because he “won’t need to worry about people losing files because they rarely bring in their laptop,” he says.
What!!!- has he actually tried file sync-ing over something that's more than about 10ms latency away....and thats most people off LAN these days.
I read with interest Mr Field talking about GP and all things M$, he needs to get out more. GPO's are good but they can be complemented by other technologies, not just what M$ gives you in this particular release. monocultures bad and being brain washed into a single vendors view is not a good idea.
ITV News was stating it was also effecting 6 RAF admin bases as well and they outbreak has been running since well before Christmas. All of this hear-say as the MOD (rightly IMHO) are keeping alot of this info to themselves.
Also no signs of how the malware got into the systems, accidently or a deliverate 'attack'.
given the time to clear up and the large number of systems it's compromised it's a little worrying to the least.
Would be interesting to see what the diff is like for NTSC vs digital. As most people kmow NTSC signal and picture is pretty horrible compared to PAL and SECAM, so I wonder if people think their new TV is great due to the better picture normal SD digital give you?
As others have pointed out a decent upscaled DVD looks near as heck as good as blue-ray/HD-DVD hence why blue-ray isn't catching on like DVD did - there's no discernable difference to most people at home.
Just pointing to an issue. Kinda muddie's their reputation. If there's problems with one part of the product and it's still an issue in the next release even after it being pointed out.
"So we cannot break the deniability feature in TrueCrypt 6.0. But, honestly, I wouldn't trust it."
total sales pitch here, this has been happening for several years where the malware writers use news headlines to trick people into opening email and links...
"If a person chooses a flower background and then draws a butterfly as their secret password image onto it, they have to remember where they began on the grid and the order of their pen strokes."
come on - they can't remember a passphrase never mind how to draw a house......
then there's the "I'm stupid and forgot my password" links and things have have to do to reverify....
Apparently the founder of Solid State Logic Colin Sanders used to have big old 15 amp wires to his speakers.
All this oxygen free, multicore stuff is overrated!
oh dear, I had pictures of a pipe from the boots into your trousers when the firm's name of Gotwind was read....I must get out more :-)
Funny 'cos CBS joined up with ABC and Fox News Channel to create the Network news Service in response to CNN over 20 years ago.
If this goes ahead the USA will have 1 big news service for TV news - maybe some sort of competition commission might block this?
only 4 digit ones are worth anything :-)

or stop de-forestation and actually plant more of the things ??
yes and yes.

Bruce Schneier and gang aren't impressed by truecrypts product .
Also gotta look at this from a risk point of view - and as previous mentioned don't forget those border guards in the US!

nothing to see here, please move on.
I'd say this is fairly easy to detect..

OK so I was there a few months ago and it is indeed an impressive beast - it's HUGE. About the size of a small data centre.
Also is doesn't crack the codes, merely gives the key to crack the codes from Enigma machines. Needs a separate machine to run the de-cypher...
no but it'll run netbsd ;-)

might help, might not..
When will the content providers get this. Whatever barrier they put in place will fail, just a matter of time.
my solution: sell it cheap pile it high..
cough - same as a US citizen then ;-)

gone :-)
crikey I must be getting old then.....
Like all complex systems any change will have 'interesting' side-effects.
And that (IMHO) is MS-Mindows main problem. It's too complex, and this is why there are so many issues with it.
End of story.
I wouldn't buy anything from PC world. Their customer care on problems after buying is totally rubbish..
They'll do anything not to help once they've taken youre money WITHOUT you standing in the middle of store and making a scene.
They'd be better with a campaign to get people to secure their websites etc so IE is safe to use as the default browser!
Why do they think people want to use something other in the first place.....cos IE's so much more vulnerable to malware than a.n.other browser.
I think that's "93% of all email *received in* the UK was spam" ;-)
OK can the folks buying DRM please remember all technology is fallible and that security is a process NOT a single solution.
