  2. They have to be lumping DSL and Fios together on Netflix Compares ISP Streaming Performance · · Score: 1

And then I voted for him in 2008.....things change. Still, I agree, she's pretty much unelectable in my mind.

  4. Verizon sold me! on Verizon Speeds Up FiOS To 150Mbps · · Score: 1

They dumped all the low density markets to Frontier......they took away some of our features, can't make others work correctly, and seem to just turn stuff off at random times for "unscheduled maintenance" I'd hapily pay to have Verizon back.

  5. Nice try on Strong Contender Already For Adafruit's Kinect Challenge · · Score: 1

But that report is from July 2009 and only has sales figures through March 2009. I've played with this gadget, its taken the Xbox away from me and given it to my wife and kids.

  7. How did you downgrade? on The Verizon Wireless HTC Eris 'Silent Call Bug' · · Score: 1

I didn't think we leakers could downgrade without being rooted and that installing the leak wiped out root access.

  8. I'm a very satisfied Eris owner on The Verizon Wireless HTC Eris 'Silent Call Bug' · · Score: 1

I've had my Eris since March and have been very satisfied with it. As a pda, it does everything I ask it to and more, its only when you start using it as a phone that you bump into issues. The dialer is very laggy and I think the "silent call" issue is as much related to those problems as the 2.1 update. Personally, I think a number of Eris users, me included, installed leaked versions of the 2.1 update prior to the official OTA. The leaks updated HBOOT on the phone to a version that wasn't rootable under any known exploits. However, a phone updated to 2.1 by the OTA stayed at HBOOT 1.47 and was still rootable. People seeking root were claiming they were suffering from the "silent call" bug to get a 1.6 device that they could then root and update via OTA. Leakers regret.

  9. Who needs a mod chip on New Hardware Models Highlight Nintendo's No-Transfer Policy · · Score: 1

With bannerbomb it can be done using just software, it takes just a few minutes. The DS has the same problem, a $12 flash card will allow you to play pretty much any game ever produced. Nintendo's got two problems, their stuff is retardedly easy to pirate, and there is so much shovelware out that people are almost conditioned to try a game before they buy it.

  10. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on Dedicated Halo 2 Fans Keep Multiplayer Alive · · Score: 1

But does this shutdown affect Halo2 on the 360 as well? I was under the assumption that the shutdown only affected orignal xboxes.

  11. Just for once! on Genre Wars — the Downside of the RPG Takeover · · Score: 1

Can be stop complaining about the dedicated server thing? Honestly, I think IW just wanted to make a console game and didn't want to put the effort into a PC release. Plain and simple, no conspiracy. Inspite of the issues with glitching, I've had a great deal of fun playing MW2 on my 360 as I'm sure PS3 owners have as well.

  12. GoonSwarm on EVE Online Battle Breaks Records (And Servers) · · Score: 2, Informative

Wasn't the stated purpose of the Swarm to grief BoB in game? When did they get all serious about the game (just like the group they were mocking).

  13. There isn't really any homebrew on the 360 on Xbox Live Class Action Being Investigated · · Score: 5, Informative

The DVD drive mods that people got banned for were all about playing 'backups' which really means pirated games in 99% of these cases.

  14. Suprise! They are a collection agency. on US Call-Center Jobs — That Pay $100K a Year · · Score: 1

Those great salaries are likely paid to the employees most willing to berate someone into giving them their kids lunch money.

  15. The reality is...... on Xbox Gaming Platform To Span Web, Console, Mobile · · Score: 1

I have an Xbox and I'm going to pay my $50/yr to use live. It would be nice if that experience, games like the online version of 1vs100, the facebook integration that's coming, and just the general messaging services of Live itself, could be extended more thouroughly to my PC and mobile device. The trick is, I won't pay any extra, or for seperate access to all three platforms. I also won't pay $5 for a lightsaber for my avatar.

  16. The 360 is fairly easy to pirate on on Ubisoft Working On a New Anti-Piracy Tool · · Score: 1

It's also pretty risky too. I used to work at a factory, the 360 was fairly popular with the hourly guys there and I'd say roughly half of them had hacked their DVD drives to be able to play pirate games. But, every big release resulted in one or two of them getting banned from Live too.

  17. Did they really expect on Music Game Genre On the Decline · · Score: 1

Guitar Hero "Smash Hits" to sell like Hot Cakes?!?!?!?! Its a greatest hits album for a music game.....any greatest hits should have just been released as DLC. In fact, I think I've bought about 300 rock band songs, at $2 each, that equals about 10 times a single copy of a game (since they've said they don't make money on the controllers).

  18. The piracy argument is sort of legitimate on US Videogame Sales Have Biggest Drop In 9 Years · · Score: 1

The Bannerbomb hack for the Wii really caught on in May. If you are even a little tech savvy you can pretty easily use a soft mod to play burned disks. If you are really crafty, you can play them via a USB attached HDD. That had to have an impact on games like Tiger Woods 10.

  19. I think we are ignoring the most likely cause on Computers Key To Air France Crash · · Score: 1

With the tail found intact, I think it's increasingly more likely that we're seeing a similar set of circumstances to the A300 accident in NYC in November of 2001. The aircraft lost it's tail, due to turbulance, commanded or uncommanded maximum rudder deflection followed by structural failure. One of the first ACARS messages received was a Rudder travel limit error.

  20. Ummm....I thought they stopped sending coffin's? on Microsoft Extends Xbox 360 Warranty To E74 Errors · · Score: 1

I thought I read somewhere MS stopped sending coffins in the US? FWIW, I own all three, the Wii died once and took about 6 weeks to get replaced. It was kind of a suprise because we never really use the thing. The 360 died twice, once was a 2 week replacement and the other was due to a power supply failure. The people at the call center weren't much help in troubleshooting that. The PS3 has never been repaired, but it's really just a blue-ray player for us. The 360 gets by far the most use. Best online community and best games hands down.

  23. The Law we really need on New York Bill Aims To Restrict Games Containing Profanity · · Score: 2, Interesting

I don't mind violence and profanity in games, I just want a software switch the bleeps or turns the profanity off. I just don't see a point in hearing curse words. Yes, as an ex-marine I do realize that real marines curse, however having it in a video game doesn't add realism. Real Marines scratch their junk constantly and talk about girls, sex, and racial sterotypes. Unless you are going all the way with the profanity I don't see the point. Call of Duty WaW comes to mind here, there's an inordinate amount of profanity but there's also a switch to turn it off, however for some stupid, stupid reason, it doesn't work in online play.

I think it's sort of silly too, however I see more Mexican flags each day that I do American flags. The immigrant community around here is very, very proud of their Mexican flag I guess....They are nearly every bumper, on huge display in many a pick up truck window and I've even seen them flying over the local park for the Sunday soccer/futbol leagues.
