I think the real issue is about more than just addiction though. I think it's down to the level of passivity or activity required to engage with the medium, and the control over the experience.
I am still in High school and i argue with my parents with this exact argument. Video Games are better than TV because when you watch TV u are sitting aroung on your ass collecting dust, Video Games when made well can be just as entertaining as TV exept that most games Ex. Ledgend of zelda are traditionaly very long taking +40 hours

I guess a trained AI would be better at fakeing being your IM-buddy because some people IM like a text message where they say things with as few characters as possable.
It would be hard to make an AI that could understand that with all the mispeling word and stuff

Now i am still in High School and i can tell you one thing. Why cheat on an assignment if you are skilled at just BSing the questions. because we may have a diffrent system from when you were in HS, the teachers still have close to 100 students in all their classed and they still don't actualy read what you write.
If in france they actualy count the words in your paper then i might actualy pay for it

First of all, if he is smart enough to get elected as Prez of US i think he is resposable to let any major goverment secrets out to his friends and family. (like that area 51 is where they keep aliens) Second YOU CAN TURN THE TRACKING JUNK OFF. i have a phone serviced by verizon (same guys make the blackberry) and i can make the GPS thing only accessable to the 911 ppls. Third if the goverment is going to give him a super cool tricked out PDA/phone/internet/... i am sure that 1. they can keep track of it 2. it will not have anything important. like o lets say that big red button for the nukes
