Because the media are just as bigoted as you in hating Microsoft and a solution to a problem is no longer newsworthy.
You see stories all over the press about "this accident". You don't hear about the people that cleaned it up. "The internet in X places went down yesterday" - no followup of "The internet is back for those that suffered".
I know someone who had a mac mini bought for her around 3-4 years ago. Her parents weren't exactly rich and went for the cheapest option there was.
The thing was terrible. You couldn't scroll over the dock smoothly if you had a number of programs open (and by number I mean Safari with a few tabs and a word processor).
I think this is part of the reason Apple do not drop to the very low price points. their system is just not setup to turn everything off.
Take opera

search google for hello work.
type

Search wikipedia for WW2
go to anything that has a search function, right click and Create search. Find a "keyword" that makes sense. New command added. Has been like that for years.
TBH just don't pirate music. If you don't agree with the price of music then don't buy it. That will teach RIAA (or whoever) a lesson long before piracy ever will. Then let the plebs who feel the need to pirate get caught for it.
The worst thing will be the people legally using torrents getting banned with no legal reason and likely no recourse for their lost service. Quilty before proven innocent. Stupid grounds to be allowed.
Because the CPU/GPU are not local. The thin client sat in your living room is nothing more than a sky box with a fancy remote. Hopefully a shit ton faster
And hopefully you now have no desire to use that application AT ALL. If you can't read the source (or at least read through it in some form of meaningful way) then how do you expect the developer to do the same in a years time when it needs a bug fix?
One of the advantages of FOSS is it allows you to weight up how well made the software is. In this case not well made at all.
Why is it these organisations so strongly want to stop the development of new technologies to the point that a powerful content delivery system should be blocked?
I agree - I mean I can't imagine all those TV presenters working to no salary to provide me with some basic entertainment. All those people that expect TV to be "free" should go join a commune.
Ad revenue sponsored gaming has real potential. In the same way TV advertising works - so could in game. It just has to be VERY carefully done so as not to alienate the players.
Yes I am aware that in many cases people pay a small fee each month for those channels that offer content without advertising (or with minimal advertising)
Right so they like the idea of people being "anonymous" so they are honest. In the same country that wants (or is?) to log all internet traffic - to monitor users activity.
Nice to know the government want us to be honest just like them.
A large number or people who die through drug abuse actually die because the drugs are improperly made/laced. Legalise the drugs and control over their contents can be had. Not only providing a safer drug taking society but also allowing a easier route for people coming off the drugs (similar to nicotene patches for cigarette smokers).
Actually the price could drop well below $20. Looking recently at EA and Spore. EA claimed a 90% Piracy rate. The game sold for roughly $40. So of all the sales of the game, the equivalent of $4 made it "into the pot". They still made profit. So if they just sold the game for $4-$5 to begin with. I bet the piracy rate would have dropped a long way below 5%. And I'll bet the overall take-up rate of the game would have increased. The game would have made more money. But thats just me hedging a bet.
I know I know - yet another Opera user.
But disable plug-ins and javascript and re-enable them on site I want them on. I have a very happy browsing experience and its three clicks away from re-enabling flash/javascript.
If.gif adverts are a pain you can also block moving images.
All without any impact on an already respectibly fast browser.
Sorry, I'll go back to my little Opera hole now.
I was actually thinking why do 8 critical vulnerabilities exist without ASAP patching...hell a patch with a minor revision number would be good.
The idea that I should wait for the next major release of a browser to fix a critical vulnerability is insane.

Could you work out what that code means? Do you need to know what they keywords are? Didn't think so.

Welcome to the well thought out world of politics.
If MS would just open windows update up a little and allow other program developers to use it then it could work pretty well.

Who says you can't make a living from F/OSS?
Stallman just says you make a living by providing users with good service. Not just by forcing them to buy shit - then buy the update.

Do I also get to leave it plugged in for this test?

Of course no project could work as a huge cohesive lump whilst still being worked on by an open community that has to self regulate.

The Chinaman is not stealing anything from apple. Apple are freely handing their money away without managing the appropriate checks at their end.
Umm...

"I recommend updating only software that you recognize."
No No No NO! Update everything. People didn't spend time updating software for you to ignore them. They updated it often because it needs securing.
There are no precautions...
the precautions are innocent until proven guilty.
I'd be interested in the BBC properly learning what torrenting is and actually incorporating it into the iPlayer.
I don't mind giving up some bandwidth in exchange for some content free.
I'll agree with you further on this.

Oi! Operas rendering is the same cross platform. Or for the sake of Seamonkey did you forget the Opera is actually cross platform...
