Was it Enron's fault that he give the firefighter 90% pension? Was it Enron's fault that he expanded the state payroll based on the assumption that the internet bubble will last forever? Was it Enron's fault that he give away the bank when dealing with State Prison Guard union (who's one of his biggest campaign contributors)?
Joesph Gray Davis is good at three things:
1. Raise campaign money. 2. Run a dirty campaign. 3. Give away the house to his campaign contributors.
None of these qualified him as an effective governor.
No kidding. I tried book one of Goodkind, and give up after 100 pages. Never mind the cliche driven storyline, the abysmal quality of writing kept me from reading any further.
When ever they see even a way of squeezing a buck out of whatever you do, they'll go for it. This has the effect of driving business from even visiting the place in the first place.
Well, one of the benefit of sovereignity is the ability to print your own money, hope someone else is dumb enough to actually take it.
Although there are plenty of series that were cancelled, even the famous ones.
"Mobile Suit Gundam" was originally slated for 52 episodes run. By around episode 30s, their sponsor was ready to pull the plug, and only the pleading of the producers got them up to 43 episodes. This team's next series "Space Runaway Ideon" got the exact same treatment, except the producer weren't able to get them the 4 episode extension. The fans of Ideon have to wait another year to watch the ending on two movies.
Because of this food distribution system, ALL Iraqi citizen MUST register with the government in order not to starve. This is a very effective system for government to keep track of EVERYONE.
OICW isn't ready for prime time yet. The biggest drawbacks are: 1. weight. The combat computer is still too heavy. 2. reliability. The combat computer still overheats too frequently even under controlled situtation.
At this junction, I don't forsee every infantry soldier getting a OICW yet. At most, 1 per squad.
Second on Crest of the Star. It does Space Opera in a scale that simply could not be done in a weekly live action show (the only that came close is Babylon5).
The fact that it also has a very gripping and engaging story is a plus.
I presumed you're the type that think that corporate CEO who looted pension fund shouldn't get any time in jail, since they didin't actually use physical violence?
Well, one of the episode in the early part of the show does illustrate the Heinlein proverb: "An armed society is a polite society". Where Vash wondred into a town without any apparent law enforcement. That is until he realized that EVERYONE in the town is armed.
Well, Cartoon Network will have a good ole time trying to edit religion out of this show, since a crucial character, Reverand Nicholas D. Wolfwood is a traveling preacher/bounty hunter who carried a huge cross around (the cross also doubled as a mini-arsenal). And of course, his secondary means of income is his portable house of confession that he charge for listening to the sinners.
Second on the Jungle Wa Itsumo Hare Nochi Guu and Azumanga Daioh.
Regarding Azumanga Daioh, it's sort of like Peanuts, except the cast is a group of Japanese Highschool girls as they go through the Japanese Highschool system. It's appeal is actually quite universal. Even if you don't know the first thing about Japan and anime, it's still a good show to watch.
Ahm, one of ADV's biggest seller of last year is a shoujo baseball series "Princess Nine". The owner of ADV love the show so much that he personally negotated its license (though at the time, the show's prospect in a boys dominated R1 market is slim). Well, his gamble payed off, and you can bet your farm that when ADV gets their channel up and running Princess Nine will be amounst their lineup.
The famine in Zimbabwe is mostly the creation of one man, el presidente for life Robert Mugabe. Mr. Mugabe tried to circumvant the constitutional limits on his terms by inciting black on white genocide. This has turn Zimbabwe, once the breadbasket of the Southern African countries into needing to import food just to survive.
Seriously, even if God should rain mana onto the starving masses, the problem is still there. I see no future for that country as long as the thugs are in charge.
Their stock is currently on a downward slide. They need something to inflamed the imagination of the un-informed investors into buying these stocks.
Who do you think is bankrolling this SCO excercise in the art of pump 'n dump?

The concrete bomb is shaped exactly like the metallic bomb. The advantage of the inert bomb is that you can re-use them.
Also getting bought out by IBM is Plan A for the SCO insiders. Since IBM didn't balk, Plan B calls for pump & dump.
Better make that short call period to 6 months. The price will have crashed by then.

I have my fool proof way of getting rid of GAIN... Revert to the previous build image of the computer.
We need that for all of our 'positive' gamin'.
The ADR director is the same as the TV series, and all of the principle Voice Actors return for the movie.

Actually, this essay isn't exactly new. I've read this critique of LoTR from Brin in a different context prior to the movies came out.

Hey, I drove by there every single week. So that's what it's called. Boeing now owns the place, having bought up the Rockwell/Rocketdyne properity.
