In my case, when I get a chargeback or complaint (I sell a subscription service so I get a couple of these a year), they freeze the funds from that transaction (between $5 and $20). No big deal, I would have ended up refunding the person anyway if they had asked. I can see how it would be a problem when selling physical merchandise though.
Well.. BeOS and MS-DOS. That just seals Java's fate;). Seriously though, I love Ruby.. The consistency it shows throughout the language is very refreshing. I can usually guess at syntax or method names if I don't already know them. We're on the same wavelength;)
Last I read, this is what the PTC wants as well. They're the ones who filed some huge number of FCC complaints last year. They want to be able to boycott these channels. Which is fine with me, *IF* that's all they truly want.
NeXT marketed their computers as workstations. A line which has since been blurred. All I think they need to do at this point, is offer the option of mice from other manufacturers when you order your computer from their website. Currently, you can order a 3rd party mouse from Apple, however you cannot do so as a replacement for the mouse that ships with your computer. I'm sure we'd have more Apple-styled 3rd party mouse coming out at that time as well. Think of the Sound Sticks.
Actually, at safeway. If you don't have your card, you don't have to talk to anyone. You just input your phone number on the same device you use to swipe it. It will say "Swipe card or enter phone number". That is all there is to it. No explanation or communication necessary.
This is true with Dvorak as well. All the vowels are accessable with your left hand (aoeui is part of your left hand's "home row"). This breaks things up quite nicely. Breaking up the rest is simply a matter of luck.
While I agree that knowing the right people is a very large determining factor in your success, your parents don't need to be successful for this to happen. It is quite possible to meet and picque the interest of these people without going through parents. You can always go through friends, as well as friends of friends. Your network is likely larger than you think. Go out, meet people. If someone wants to start a company, needs capital, and is not doing it because they think the people who gave birth to them are holding them back, then doing themselves a disservice and are lacking the drive necessary to see their goals accomplished.
Because it's an investment. The employees have invested time, which they are being compensated for. The owner of the company likely invested a lot more time before the employees were ever around, money, and the drive to see it done. Being an employee is low risk, and therefore has lower returns. This is how the economy works in general. It's the same with the stock market. The more of a risk you're willing to take, the bigger your returns, or your losses will be. I personally see no problem with that.
Can you use smart folders from Terminal? Is this a real folder? Or just something presented to you by Finder? This is something I'd be interested to know. If someone could paste an ls -l from a smart folder, that'd be even better:)
I agree. I completely side with Yahoo! on this matter. Unless they can prove that he wished for them to have that access (which it appears that they cannot), then it should not be granted to them.
You just said 'yup' to two of them. As you quoted, he said that everyone has done one of the following. What point are you trying to make? I think it's been lost.
It evens itself out. I know that in the UK no cell customers pay for incoming calls. However, last I checked, it costs quite a bit more to call a UK cell phone than it does to call a UK land line. In the US, there is no difference. My theory is that the cost is made up by the extra charge levied on the calling party. It just looks like two different approaches. But here in the US, as far as I know (and someone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong), NEXTEL is the only carrier that is currently offering free incoming calls.
I know I'm in the minority. But people complaining about NEXTEL's prices don't realize that they're the cheapest option for some people. First of all, free incoming calls is HUGE. As it stands now, my minutes are tapped only for outgoing calls made on the weekday during the day. I have a 600 minute free incoming plan and I use at least 2,000 minutes every month. I'll typically have at least 1200 minutes of incoming calls with the rest being spread out between nights and weekends and prime time. But I have still never exceeded the 600 minutes.
3,000 minutes for $70/mo? I'll take it. It just fits my calling patterns best.
Apple hasn't announced anything yet. It is speculated that they will tomorrow, April 1st.
He doesn't live in the US, so while there may be another law in his country that he is breaking, it sure isn't the DMCA.

My transaction count stands at 1000+ with no issues thus far. I think it is way overblown.
Remember. If they don't agree with you, or they have too much residual income. They're stupid.

And are they saying that they own much of Chevol Davis? Isn't that illegal?

He's catching you on a technicality. Had you replaced the word 'connections' with the word 'packets', you'd have been safe :)

I'll say otherwise. However, it's only because i find it funny that you're trying to tell him what not to say.

^M is carriage return. I think you meant ^H ;)

I'd say that Arnold is fairly left wing when it comes to social issues. He is, however, economically conservative.
If RMS had not started GNU, GCC would not exist. Period. So I would say that GCC 'as it is today' has quite a bit to do with RMS.
Let us know. But you definitely need more RAM. That would explains your disk thrashing.

You misread my post. I have unlimited incoming minutes.
From the post:
As it stands now, my minutes are tapped only for outgoing calls made on the weekday during the day.
