sounds more like the management needs it's morals boosted with that kind of underhanded thinking!
i dont see why, it seems like that would be a wonderful way to make a happier workplace altogether. I suppose that there is a slight amount of underhandedness going on there, but it still makes the employees happier -which is good for them- and everyone benifits
Aside from your dumbass, arrogant remarks, they already have things like this for two way communications.
um... wow. wtf are you all worked up about, i cannot for the life of me figure out why you wrote that?
Although i do agree with you that I think that it is more trouble than it is worth at this point, I think one thing you must remember is that W.I.N.E. IS an acronym. It means, Wine is not an emulator... Meaning that wine does not add any "extra" layers on top of the os, but actually adds the functionality, such as libraries, so instead of the game linking to "windows.dll" (or whatever...i dont know) it links to a "windows.so" which is just a reverse engineered version of the windows.dll. Allowing the system to run the same on both. I dont really remember exactly all the specifics but I know that is the gist of it anyway
I dont have time to reread the article but anandtech did a review a bit back of different cards and setting them at dx9 and dx8 and benchmarking, probably some fairly usefull info for you all. here is the article http://anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2281
Speech to text recognition for dictation is great and all, but it seems that few people can actually speak coherently while they are in deep thought. I would much reather have a program that allows me to control such things as music on my pc, like skipping tracks, volume, etc, or opening new windows, urls. Is there anything out there that is capable of doing this efficiently?
wtf is gummint? if you are using that word instead of government then.... well you just sound stupid. Forgive me, but i am not quite sure as to what you are trying to imply or if you are just trying to be cute... as for the rest of the post, you do sound like you have something to say. So, dont ruin it with stupid "misspellings"
um... so why dont they just license them, and not have to worry about the cost of R&D for a lense for an artificial eye. Also, i belive that the patent expires in 20 years not 192, correct me if i am wrong. These guys put time and money into developing this technology, why should they not reap the rewards? what would happen if they were not allowed to have exclusive rights over thier invention for a set amount of time? Maybe then they could try selling thier idea, and in doing so, whoever they attemted to sell thier idea to could just steal the idea and use it without having to pay the licensing. That would really encourage me to invest my time and/or money into some research so that it can be stolen from me without me getting a penny or legal recourse. What would you suggest they do?
OK fine, cookies can allow websites to track you and allow them with access to more information than you may want them to know, sure. But, I, as with many other users dont care, I am not really too concerned with companies being able to keep some sort of tabs on me, such as through cookies, the information is quite limited... (whatever, it is my opinion, a personal preference thing, and I know there are many that feel strongly against that sort of thing. That is fine.... ) Although I think that the more important issue is with software that actually hinders a system from functioning properly, like starting up on boot and running in the background changing homepages, redirection urls, etc. As the grandparent mentioned, after installing yahoo the machines operated better, this to me is MUCH more important than not deleting certain cookies- it is obvious as too why they would not delete there own... there is no such thing as a free lunch, yahoo must pay for this software somehow, and if that means keeping cookies from them, then I say it is a fair trade-off
we should probably have warnings on powder blue crayons too. cause god know how bad it is when one of those gets jammed up your nose and i know from experience that this happens all the time same with screwdrivers and pencils and pens, and come to think of it every other pointy object, they dont have warnings- it must be ok. There comes a point when people stop paying attention to warnings because they already know that they know better, which is often the case- the problem with this is that more often than not, truly important warnings get glossed over becuase they are assumed to be the regular "do not light on fire", "not to be taken internally", etc...... extended warranty, how can i lose!
I totally agree, although i have not been able to find an automated-patch-from-cd solution from microsoft. Does one exist that i cannot seem to find? I have found this http://www.autopatcher.com/ though, which is quite nice, although the last release was in 8/04 so it is not quite up to date all the time. I appears also that they don't support sp2, they mention on thier news that the latest version is for those of you not wanting to upgrade to sp2.
that rust in your subaru probably came from your engine, which is steel. The radiator is most likely aluminium. Maybe not, but i am almost certain that most radiators are aluminum, which does not rust.
i remeber an article here on slashdot some time back about software that could do what that was all about turning a sketch into a 3d model. I cant seem to find it now though.
It seems to me that a browser hijacker is alot like a virus- especially if you cannot get rid of it. So why are the antivirus companies not addressing this with there AV software?
I was actually wondering about the possible enviromental effects while checking out the pictures myself. My guess is that any effect would be negligable at best. Not to mention that the alternative method of producing this much power would be much more harmful. I guess if you think about it though, I cannot imagine that this alone, or even a field of these turbines would even come close to the effect that even a small city would have on wind. I don't have any real knowledge of this sort of thing so I am not really one to talk.
After a quick seach on google I came up with this
basically, from what that says the effects seem to be minimal.
That is an interesting thought, why cant anyone patent spam.... i dont know a thing about patent laws, but if that is possible, it would be an awesome way to make money doing something good.
Although I know that this remark is not intended to be *mean* (well, i suppose it could be...) this kind of crap never helps any debate. Do you really think that there is no way that a bush supporter could be intelligent? Even though I am not necassarily a Bush supporter I find it personally offensive that you would call an entire group of people stupid for supporting the President. While there is a lot of desicions that Bush has made that I don not support there are some that I do. I am sure that there are many Bush supporters that do not support 100% of Bush's decisions, and that they have a good reason for supporting him. Many decisions that Bush has made can be good or bad based on opinion, do you really think that a personal opinion different from yours is a reason to call someone stupid?
I do think that the mods here should get a spanking for modding that comment insightful, at best it was funny
Security doesn't come for free. You have to invest something for getting it.
Of course we must be willing to give up privacy for security... that is a given, and I think that most people understand this. I however do not belive that this is a tradeoff I want to make. America is was known as the land of the free at one point for some reason, we are now slowly slipping into "the land of the safe".
No sane person would run a Windows or a Linux box on teh internet without elaborate security setup.
Of course they wouldn't but this is a threat that is actually there, I have seen for myself the problems with doing this... But, it is nobody but myself that chooses the security level of my box, I could make it ultra secure but then it would not be as usable. So instead I make a tradeoff between security and usability, The security measures that I have installed a transparent and they do not effect the rest of what I do.
If you vote such people into office you shouldn't whine about the privacy issues of RFID chips. You just get what you wanted.
I did not vote for Bush, and even if I had, should I just keep my mouth shut? I dont know why you think that we should just ignore the problem because, after all, we voted them in... Our country is supposed to be a free country, we are not supposed to be tracked like dogs and cows, we have a right to demand privacy.
In the end it is all about the tradeoff between privacy and security, and I for one would rather have my privacy.
Do you really think it was all that simple? you make it sound like all that they had to do was decide they didn't belive in the fight and they could go home. I cannot say that I am that great of man that could say that I have made that great of stand- Although I bet I could find something wrong/oppressive about the work you do, or what your job supports... and would you jump at the idea of quiting your job? And that isnt even as bad as going to jail... and I bet you dont have a family to support... or mabey you do, could you do it from jail? It is one thing to be rightous, and it is quite another to be dumb.
Regardless of the situation, and what you or many many other americans might do in the same situation as clinton, he is THE president. While this does not make him god or infallable it does mean that he should be held to the same laws that we are. He broke the law, it is that simple... I dont care what for, if he is expected to uphold the law, then he should at least be held to it, or pay the consequences.
its not the stories, its the world

so the use of marijuana would increase.... so? Do you think it would be any more of a problem than alcohol?
