The issue with the Middle East goes farther back than that.
If you have read Common Sense, a great little writing on why England didn't stand a chance and that government should be small and hold very little power, you will see where Thomas Paine refers to people from the Middle East as "heathens."
This whole situation dates back to the Crusades and even farther.
They've been engrained with the hate and it isn't going anywhere. We appease Saudi Arabia to ensure oil supplies, they continue to encourage a boycott of American goods.
And realize that oil doesn't just fuel big thirsty SUVs, it fuels our econoboxes and our hybrids too. Even if you use less oil, you're still contributing to the problem.

why even bother posting that on *this* site of all sites?
You know you're just going to nailed as a Troll and then hit with other left political stuff.
Now there won't be any "They should go after Microsoft for making crappy software!" posts.. just "You conservatives blah blah blah government control = good when it 'makes life better'..." or a valid argument about how now the FTC regulates decency..
I've never even gotten one of these Windows messages so I have no idea what it's all about.. but whatever... once again the government has done something that won't change anything except increase their power.

I don't see how this post got remarked remotely informative. I'm an Athiest, but last I checked there's no 100% conclusiveness for anything about our creation.
Of course, this is the geek crowd were science rules all, so I guess that's why this got marked informative, eh?
If it's my fault as a Conservative that his girlfriend has a dialup Internet connection because I won't let my taxes be used to subsidize her Internet connection...
That I am perfectly happy with that because I like being able to use my money to afford myself my own luxuries. Such as the GNU/Linux X-Box I use as my personal computer because I can't afford anything better.
Great to hear. I haven't had access to a machine with a DVD-ROM in months so I haven't been able to test this. I just recently got Linux running on my X-Box so hopefully I can plop these DVDs in and they'll work. I assumed Backup would have atleast used GZIP/BZIP2/TAR or something standard for archiving and compressing.
I just used a Mac and backed up 20GB of data over 4 DVD-Rs using your Backup 2.0 software. Unfortunately I no longer have a Mac but need to restore those discs, could you tell me what compression/spanning techniques are used by Backup 2.0 so I can retrieve the data?
Apple Rep:
Apple uses all open standards with their software. Thank you.
Shortly after Apple announced the Mac Nvidia 6800 Ultra DDL card for the PowerMac G5s (which is required to drive the 30in Cinema Display), I sent a series of questions to a contact at Nvidia on the card. Yesterday I received the reply from Ujesh Desai, Nvidia's General Manager of Desktop GPUs. Although some questions didn't get as complete an answer as I hoped (often due to the fact Apple controls OEM Mac Nvidia products), I appreciate his taking the time to reply.
* How does the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL card for the Mac differ from the PC version (i.e. Does the PC version have dual link DVI?)
The GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL card was designed specifically for the Mac to provide two dual-link outputs to support Apple's displays.
* Does the Apple version of the GeForce 6800 Ultra GPU run at the same core/memory clock as the PC version?
The Apple cards run at 400/550, just like the GeForce 6800 Ultra GPU on the PC.
(Note: Some vendor's 6800 cards are clocked higher than the standard/reference design.)
* The GeForce 6800 Ultra for the PC has two Molex power connectors -
does the Mac version source all the power from the G5's AGP pro slot?
(or does it have a aux power connector?)
There is an on-board power connector on the graphics card and the motherboard to provide power, so there is no need for an external power connector from the power supply. (although the only Mac 6800 photos I've seen are tiny, it appears
there's a stub connector on the card that (I suspect) uses the
ADC (28V or 24V usually) DC power connector on the motherboard that's normally used for ADC display power to provide additional power (regulated down) for the 6800 card. That eliminates the need for Aux. (Molex) P.S. connector(s) like the PC/standard 6800 card versions have.)
* Does the GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL have a low-noise fan?
Yes, the GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL runs very quiet.
* Will there ever be a control panel with 3D/GL/FSAA controls for the
NVIDIA cards on the Mac platform? (ATI's retail Radeon cards (and OEM models with the 3rd party patch)
have a '3D/GL overrides' feature - which is seen as a big plus by many end users.)
Apple provides all the drivers for NVIDIA-based add-in cards. We supply them with the source code and they provide the final driver.
* Regarding the previous question - if there's no chance of an Apple
supplied NVIDIA card control panel (for advanced features/FSAA, etc.) -
if a 3rd party wanted to do this, can NVIDIA provide some assistance?
Apple is our customer, so if this is something that they requested, then we would support it.
* There's been talk of previous NVIDIA cards taking a bigger than
expected performance hit from using some types of shaders (on the Mac) -
is this a concern with the GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL?
GeForce 6 Series GPUs have the most advanced shading engines on the
market. Compared to previous generation parts, the vertex and pixel
shader engines on GeForce 6 Series GPUs have been completely redesigned
from the ground-up. Pixel Shader performance is 4 to 8 times faster.
Vertex shader performance is twice as fast. Performance numbers have
been outstanding.
* Will there updated/new drivers for the GeForce 6800 Ultra?
Yes. Apple provides all the drivers for NVIDIA-based add-in cards.
We supply them with the source code and they provide the final driver.
Apple will control the release schedules for drivers that provide even
more performance, features and image quality enhancements.
* Do you have any idea how performance compares on the Mac between the GeForce 6800 Ultra and the ATI 9800 Pro/XT card?
GeForce 6800 Ultra represents the largest leap forward in graphics performance in our company's history. As
the MPAA figured that out a long time ago. And they found out that they make more money by releasing DVDs well after the theatrical release. The black market hurts those sales, but not enough to cause them to release DVDs prematurely.
But by destroying the black market they get those lost sales back.
Who the hell wants some crappy camcorder-made copy of a movie, anyways? I'll bet you only fans of the movie. People that buy that crap are only doing so to have a copy until the DVD is released. If they released DVDs and movies at the same time, there wouldn't be this problem. Or, at least we'd know his customers meant to infringe upon the copyright holders.
How about any college kid sitting on a fat pipe who doesn't want to pay for a movie because for the same price he could buy a case of beer? There's several thousands, even tens of thousands of people, right there.
Just out of curiosity, who said that you have the right to record a movie when you purchase a ticket to view it in the theater? Some people on here act as if they're supposed to be aloowed to, and I don't recall every in my life being told I was allowed to.
Hasn't this always been the case? The Supreme Court gets inundated with requests and they can only hear so many cases per year. So they choose the ones that pertain to the Constitution the most and decide which ones have the greatest impact and then hear those cases.
Please tell me you're not implying BMW isn't a major car company? They only sell a crapton of vehicles and have one of, if not the, highest profit margins.
1) IBM is having trouble getting the G5s built in big enough numbers. It doesn't help that the first XServe G5s are going to Virginia Tech. It sucks they're not up to 3GHz, but it's probably not Apple's fault.
2) Fast video cards are nice, but if I want a gaming machine I'll get a PS2.
3) Yes, only 256MB of RAM on the 1.8GHz. You need more, buy it from somewhere else. Apple overprices their RAM
I feel like your entire post is why Apple computers are still largely inadequate.
Regarding your first statement, it is Apple's fault. Steve Jobs' is writing checks his company can't cash. He needs to quit overstepping reality so he quits _lying_ to his customers.
Your second statement is the reason why Macs will never be considered a gaming platform. You, and I'm sure others, are content with using a 4 year old game console. So, Apple does little to make their platform conducive to being developed on for games.
And last but not least, yea, you can buy RAM from people other than Apple. But is it really so bad to expect them not to bend you over when you're buying their hardware? Is it really so wrong to think that, when buying a $2000 computer, you could get 512MB of RAM?
I enjoyed being a Mac user the last 3 years of my life (90% of those 3 being in college). But now that I've graduated and have to pay my own way, I don't foresee me buying a Mac again. The price vs capabilities just suck. The G5 is amazing, having two would be awesome. Most of the iLife software I used was absoluetly wonderful. And being forcibly removed from gaming by owning a Mac saved my grades.
But now I feel like I'm just wasting my money. At the very least it would cost me $2k to get a new PowerMac plus I'd have to BUY MORE RAM? They couldn't sacrifice a little bit of their 30% profit margin?
I love your sig.

Simultaneous Mac playability to come out in 2015.
That's why I never bought and played NWN. It had been out for over a year and already disposed of by my friends before it was even out for OSX.

So why not mark it Funny (which it is if in regards to the parent comment) or even Interesting.. not Informative...

Or is Chevy already trying to do that with the Corvette?

No, God forbid the LAPD be able to protect citizens that aren't protesting...
Like the ones driving harmlessly by, who get dragged out of trucks and beaten severely and end up in critical condition.
Or the Korean store owners who got vanadlized 24/7 during the rioting.
Thank God welfare payday came up and they all stopped protesting and went to sit somberly in line.
